To develop a comprehensive framework for understanding the factors associated with Chinese Generation Z (Gen Z) consumers' intention to purchase second-hand clothing (SHC), this study analyzed a valid sample of 967 Chinese Gen Z respondents obtained through stratified quota sampling. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted using AMOS. Guided by the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), the proposed model incorporated additional constructs related to values (biospheric and altruistic values) and social influence (subjective norm, group norm, and social identity). Model comparison using their variance explained (R2) for purchase intention showed that the integrated model exhibited improved in-sample explanatory performance over the baseline TPB, explaining 53.7% of the variance in purchase intention vs. 34.2% for the TPB alone. Altruistic values (β = 0.154, p < 0.01), biospheric values (β = 0.143, p < 0.01), attitude (β = 0.168, p < 0.001), subjective norm (β = 0.187, p < 0.001), and social identity (β = 0.394, p < 0.001) were positively and significantly associated with purchase intention. Exploratory multi-group SEM revealed no significant differences by gender or city tier. Given the non-probability sampling and cross-sectional design, all findings should be interpreted as associational rather than causal. This study offers new insights into previously underexplored factors associated with SHC purchase intention among Chinese Gen Z consumers by integrating value-based and social influence constructs with the TPB.
Sports bras efficient in the reduction of breast displacement (RBD) were always rated low in pressure comfort performance. Elasticity distribution was found to be influential in RBD and pressure distribution in the under-band; however, the effects of other parts have yet to be studied. This study aimed to investigate the effects of elasticity distribution on RBD and pressure comfort for the optimisation of these two performances for senior females. Five sports bras with different elasticity distribution in 5 parts (front strap, back strap, cup, back panel, and under-band) were developed to compare with the one without elasticity distribution. 20 senior female participants were involved, and the RBD, dynamic peak pressure and compressive feelings at four test points were measured and analysed by ANOVA. The results indicated that Bra A, C, and E significantly improved RBD in all three directions (P<0.001), Bra D enhanced RBD in direction Z (P<0.001), while Bra B showed no significant effect in any direction. The effect on pressure varied with the specific placement of the test point relative to the high-Young’s modulus part of the sports bra, and the compressive feelings of Bra A and E were below 3 at all four test points. Comprehensively, the elasticity distributions of applying high-Young’s modulus in the front straps (Bra A) and under-band (Bra E) were ideal and typical, which significantly enhanced RBD without inducing discomfort, and provided novel information in optimising RBD and pressure comfort for the sports bras industry and the exercising senior females.
Sports bras knitted with high-Young’s modulus materials are effective in reducing the range of breast movement (ROM), but also increase the contact pressure to the body, leading to discomfort or even body injury. Elasticity distribution was found to be a factor influencing both pressure and ROM, however, the mechanism has yet to be studied, limiting its application in the sports bra industry. This study aimed to investigate the quantitative relationships between Young’s modulus of different parts (C, S f , S b , B, U) and the performance metrics of sports bras in pressure and ROM for the optimization of both performance. A finite element (FE) model was developed to simulate the dynamic peak pressure at four test points and ROM for sports bras with different elasticity distributions during exercise. Based on which, a regression model was formed and the sensitivity factors (φ) were ranked through 2 5 full factorial analysis. The results revealed that the influence of Young’s modulus of each part varied with the pressure test points and the directions of ROM. Notably, the effect on pressure varied based on the placement of the test point relative to the part of sports bra. P 1 , P 2 , and P 4 were greatly influenced by Young’s modulus of the part covering the test point and the parts nearby, whereas P 3 was mainly influenced by U. The effect on ROM predominantly depended on S f , C, and U rather than S b and B. Therefore, the elasticity distribution design with relatively low S b and B, relatively high S f and U, and appropriate C was recommended to optimize both performances. These findings provide novel information for optimizing pressure comfort and breast support performance of sports bras, which is hoped to sever as a valuable reference for sports bra industry.
Under the dual background of vigorously promoting the digitization of cultural heritage and deepening the ideological and political construction of courses in colleges and universities, the ideological and political elements contained in China's rich cultural heritage provide important resources for ideological and political education of college students. This paper takes 305 undergraduates from 5 universities in Zhejiang Province as the research object, and empirically analyzes the cognition and attention degree of current college students to digital intangible cultural heritage through questionnaire survey. The survey results show that there are some problems such as imperfect construction of resource base, digital teaching mode has not been established, teachers 'relevant ability is lacking and practice platform is lacking. Therefore, this paper puts forward some suggestions from four aspects: constructing resource library, innovating teaching mode, improving teachers 'ability and expanding practice platform, so as to promote the deep integration of cultural heritage and ideological and political education and enhance the effectiveness of ideological and political education.
The popularity of traditional culture and social change has led to cultural products moving from niche to popular categories in the Chinese tourism market. In this context, understanding the social factors becomes crucial. This study aims to explore the effects of fan groups and family cultural capital on perceived congruity and their subsequent impacts on the purchase intentions of cultural products. Using the grounded theory approach, this study developed the dimensions of fan group involvement, family cultural capital, and perceived congruity. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was adopted to test the research model. The results illustrated that most of relationships among group involvements/family cultural capital, perceived congruity, and purchase intention were significant. The influences of interactivity in fan groups and family capital materiality on perceived congruity were greater than those of the other antecedents. Fan groups and families did not follow the same path in influencing behavioral intentions. It was found that group belonging and family cultural activity did not directly affect the purchase intention. Meanwhile, group belonging and family cultural resonance's effects on perceived symbolic congruity were insignificant. Similarly, family cultural activity had no significant impact on perceived self-image congruity. The results of bootstrap revealed that the most mediating effects in the model were significant. This study provides new insights to construct an innovative framework. It has developed dimensions of traditional consumer socialization agents in the field of consumer behavior, typically applied as observable variables in education studies. The findings highlight the importance of several social and psychological factors to enhance tourists' purchase intentions for cultural products. The conclusions offer practical recommendations for brands that attempt to incorporate traditional elements into their products and marketing strategies.
The effect of ESG performance has recently become a challenge, attracting controversy. This study investigates the relationship between ESG performance and firm value in textile and garment companies; moreover, it examines the role of green innovation in the relationship between ESG performance and firm value. We used 673 annual samples of Chinese Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share textile and garment listed companies from 2012 to 2022. Correlation and panel regression analyses were carried out to evaluate possible links between ESG performance as determined by the ESG rating data published by the Sino-Securities Index Information Service (Shanghai) Co., Ltd and market-based measures of firm value. Our main finding reveals that the ESG performance has a significant positive relationship with textile and garment company value; ESG performance can promote firm value by increasing green innovation, and green innovation has a partial intermediary role between ESG performance and firm value. We conducted multiple sensitivity analyses, and our findings are robust, which can provide useful recommendations for firms, investors, and policymakers.
This study establishes an integrated theoretical framework to comprehensively examine the factors influencing Chinese consumers’ second-hand clothing (SHC) purchase intention. Utilizing a randomly sampled dataset of 654 Chinese consumers, structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted using AMOS software. The analysis demonstrates that our integrated model exhibits superior predictive power for SHC purchase intention compared to existing frameworks, achieving statistically satisfactory results. The findings provide support for all hypothesized relationships among the theoretical constructs, while the significant mediating effects of the proposed mediators were also confirmed. Notably, invariance tests revealed the moderating effect of past purchase experience.
Waste clothing, as a renewable resource, has received increasing attention. Due to high production costs, establishing an efficient supply chain for the recycling of waste clothing is a problem that brand owners need to solve. This study uses mathematical modeling methods to study the closed-loop supply chain models of original equipment manufacturers and cutting making trimming (CMT) in the recycling of waste clothing. By using the Stackelberg game method to analyze the model, the optimal decisions and profits of supply chain members under these two modes were obtained. Based on this, further comparative analysis was conducted between the two modes. Our research finds that brand owners choose to produce and sell recycled clothing not for profit maximization, but based on enhancing brand image or corporate social responsibility considerations. For the brand owner, adopting the CMT model is more advantageous, but this mode requires higher production technology for the recycled fabric supplier.
: The rapid growth in the global apparel market and the rise of online consumption underscore the necessity for intelligent clothing recommendation systems that balance visual compatibility with personalized preferences, particularly price sensitivity. Existing recommendation systems often neglect nuanced consumer price behaviors, limiting their ability to deliver truly personalized suggestions. To address this gap, we propose DeepFMP, a multimodal deep learning framework that integrates visual, textual, and price features through an enhanced DeepFM architecture. Leveraging the IQON3000 dataset, our model employs ResNet-50 and BERT for image and text feature extraction, alongside a comprehensive price feature module capturing individual, statistical, and category-specific price patterns. An attention mechanism optimizes multimodal fusion, enabling robust modeling of user preferences. Comparative experiments demonstrate that DeepFMP outperforms state-of-the-art baselines (LR, FM, Wide & Deep, GP-BPR, and DeepFM), achieving AUC improvements of 1.6–12.2% and NDCG@10 gains of up to 3.2%. Case analyses further reveal that DeepFMP effectively improves the recommendation accuracy, offering actionable insights for personalized marketing. This work advances multimodal recommendation systems by emphasizing price sensitivity as a pivotal factor, providing a scalable solution for enhancing user satisfaction and commercial efficacy in fashion e-commerce.
Purpose Esthetic trend changes with the development of society and cultural differences. A minimizer bra designed to make breasts appear smaller is now popular with large-breasted women in China. To conform to the requirements of modern aesthetics in China, this paper aims to investigate vital features of breast appearance that influence people’s subjective evaluation of breast size and analyze how bra design parameters affect breast shape and make breasts appear smaller. Design/methodology/approach This study used 3D scanning technology and reverse engineering software to obtain objective breast measurements in detail. A subjective evaluation experiment was conducted to evaluate the overall performance of seven minimizer bras compared to a basic comparison bra. Around 20 design parameters of 8 sample bras were identified to make a further study about the correlation between bra design features and breast shaping effect. To gain a deeper understanding of how bras interact with breast tissue, this study presented heat maps of the breast surface to visualize the deformation of breast shape. Findings Nine breasts' characteristics, such as the distance between bust points, breast depth, outer breast curvature and slope, etc. have been determined to be highly correlated with the visual reduction effect of breasts. In addition, for the bras in this experiment, the high-performance bra for women with large breasts tends to have a wider side panel, a wider under band, higher gore and a stronger transverse rigidity of the bra cup. According to the observation of heat maps of the breast surface, soft full-figure bras provide a wider range of compression to the breasts and effectively flatten the breasts. Originality/value This paper first aimed at the need to shape the ideal breast appearance for large-breasted women and make a further study of several hot-selling minimizer bras in China. The suggestions given in this paper help lingerie manufacturers better understand how design features of bras can affect their shaping effect and improve the wearing effect of minimizer bras for large-breasted women.
This paper aims to introduce an innovative pattern-making technique to enhance the fit of pants for young females. Utilizing a 3D scanning system, seventy-one sets of detailed body data were collected to create a Y-body type mannequin. A raw pant pattern was crafted by unfolding the surfaces of the research mannequin in CLO3D. Through comprehensive assessments conducted by participants and experts for fit, movement adaptability, silhouette, and body shape correction, adjustments were made to the ease allowance and silhouette, culminating in the development of the pant pattern and final pant specification sheet that achieved a high level of satisfaction.
Dunhuang is the world's largest, longest-lasting, and most valuable cultural and artistic treasure of ancient murals and an important component of grotto art. The clothing and costumes of the Dunhuang murals reflect the process of Sinicization of Buddhism over the time. In order to save the costumes of these murals from deterioration and age-related factors, digital technology is used, which can not only save the precious cultural relics but also ensure their permanent and authentic preservation. This study takes the vestment on the imperial mural of the Vimala Kirti Sutra of Cave No. 220 in the Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang, China, as the research object. Firstly, it studied the detailed components, materials, colors, heraldic symbols, meanings, and aesthetic characteristics of mural vestments from the perspective of clothing history. Then, it restored the clothing patterns in the murals using digital technology, established the three-dimensional clothing model on the CLO 3D platform, and carried out the 3D digital restoration of the research object. In order to verify the accuracy of the restoration results, the analytic hierarchy process and the entropy method were comprehensively used to determine the subjective and objective weights of the indexes, and the comprehensive weights were corrected based on the idea of game theory. Finally, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation was used for the restoration results. According to the final calculation result of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, the restoration result was considered "good" with an overall evaluation score of 80.35. One of the greatest challenges of this project revolved around recovering the dilapidated mural paintings using digital technology. The high precision of the digital restoration of the vestment showcases the three-dimensional dynamic appearance of the Tang Dynasty emperors. This not only facilitates the education and propagation of traditional costume culture but also offers a novel approach to the sustainable display of mural cultural heritage.
The fast fashion industry has been widely criticized for its substantial consumption of resources and significant environmental pollution. In contrast, virtual fashion clothes are attracting attention from consumers and academics for their notable sustainability benefits and potential for fashion innovation. However, research on consumer acceptance of virtual clothes and the role of sustainability remains limited. This study aims to fill this gap by applying the Emotional Three-Level Theory to identify key virtual fashion attributes, including aesthetic, reality, personalization, presentation, sustainability, and inclusivity features, and evaluating their impact on acceptance using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A survey of 503 Generation Z consumers in China, analyzed through structural equation modeling, reveals that perceived enjoyment, usefulness, and ease of use significantly influence the intention to adopt virtual fashion clothes. Aesthetic and realistic features enhance enjoyment, while personalization and presentation improve usefulness and ease of use. Sustainability features positively impact all three factors, promoting consumer acceptance. These findings offer theoretical insights for virtual fashion research and practical guidance for the fashion industry to leverage virtual technologies for environmental sustainability. Notably, the study emphasizes the potential of virtual clothes in promoting sustainable development in the fashion industry.
Purpose Breast cancer has become the largest cancer in the world today. Health problems for women with breast cancer need to be addressed urgently. This study aims to select the best method for preparing temperature-sensitive sports underwear, and to verify the feasibility of using K-type thermocouple threads in underwear fabrics.Design/methodology/approach In the experiments, two samples were designed for temperature-sensitive performance tests and the effects produced by different outer layer structures were investigated. In the second step, K-type thermocouple wires were integrated into sports underwear. The comfort and feasibility of the temperature-sensitive underwear were investigated.Findings It was finally verified to obtain the best comfort and temperature-sensing performance of K-type thermocouple filaments integrated into sports underwear with plain stitching.Originality/value The underwear has a certain prospect for the application of smart apparel based on breast cancer health monitoring, which is of some significance for monitoring smart apparel.
为提升产品核心部件个性化推荐与用户情感需求的匹配度,帮助企业更准确把握用户定制过程的感性偏好,以女性运动裤的裤脚为例,构建基于感性工学的个性化推荐模型.首先采用语意差异法获取消费者对裤脚款式在7个维度的感性评价,建立感性意象空间;然后提取裤脚款式的设计要素,通过偏最小二乘法建立设计要素与消费感知的映射模型;最后采用模糊层次分析法量化消费者的感性需求,结合映射模型建立个性化推荐模型.结果显示:推荐结果与消费者感知评价的平均余弦相似度为0.902,说明设计元素与消费感知存在较高相关性;推荐算法预测结果的平均绝对值误差为0.54,推荐结果与用户需求匹配度较高,能有效将消费感性需求转化为设计元素.
为了满足消费者对于服装合体性的更高需求及企业提高服装定制生产效率的需要,文章提出考虑拟合度损失系数的青年女性服装定制号型的制定方法.使用三维人体扫描收集100 名年龄在18~25 周岁的青年女性的8 项人体数据,包括身高、胸围、腰围、臀围、背长、肩宽、腿长和大腿围,采用主成分分析、相关性分析确定聚类的依据变量,使用拟合度损失系数方法确定聚类数,然后通过K均值聚类分析和线性回归分析得到定制号型表.为证实拟合度损失系数方法的优越性,另选取两种确定聚类数的方法混合F统计量和最终聚类中心距离和,设置对比实验.实验结果表明,考虑拟合度损失系数制定的服装号型相较其他两类方法,在合体性、覆盖率和生产效益等方面的综合考量更优.
