Purpose: This work aimed to investigate the influences of microRNA-340 (miR-340) on proliferation and apoptosis of retinoblastoma (RB) cells and explore its regulatory mechanism.MATERIALS AND METHODS:miR-340 mimic and inhibitor were applied for up-regulating or inhibiting the expression of miR-340 in RB cell lines. Then, CCK-8 and AnnexinV-FITC/PI staining were used to measure cell proliferation and apoptosis, respectively. After that, luciferase assay was performed to affirm the direct targets of miR-340. Furthermore, qRT-PCR and western blotting assay were carried out to detect the levels of miR-340 and KIF14.RESULTS:Our results indicated that the miR-340 was lowly expressed in RB cell lines, and up-regulation of miR-340 can decrease the proliferation and induce the apoptosis of RB cells. Moreover, we verified that miR-340 controls KIF14 expression, either directly or through a subsequent molecular cascade, and inversely related to its expression. The results obtained from the rescue assays presented that over-expression of KIF14 reversed the miR-340-mediated inhibition on malignant phenotype of RB cells.CONCLUSIONS:Overall, we proved that miR-340 can decrease the proliferation and increase the apoptosis of RB cells, and its function in RB cells was at least partially achieved via down-regulation of KIF14, prompting that miR-340 was expected to supply a new direction for clinical therapy of RB in the future.
Objective: As a widespread toxic metal, arsenic had potential effect for hypertensive. We evaluated the association between urinary arsenic and the incidence of hypertension in adult residents along the Yangtze River of China. Methods: We conducted the study of 1358 adults 18 to 74 years of age from Chizhou, Maanshan, and Tongling of Anhui province, who participated in the baseline study in 2014 to 2015. Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry was used to measure urinary as of residents, and follow-up extended through 2016 to 2017. Results: We identified 275 hypertension events. The hazard ratios (HRs) of highest quartile arsenic compared with lowest quartile was 1.49 for hypertension events (95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.05 to 2.12), and HRs (>= P-20 vs <P-20) was 1.37 (95% CI = 1.02 to 1.84). Conclusions: Higher level of arsenic exposure might play a role in increasing the incidence of hypertension.
This study was to investigate the association of fasting serum glucose (FSG), thyroid‐stimulating hormone (TSH), and thyroid hormones with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC).
Objectives: A meta-analysis was performed to observe whether a difference in miRNA-221/222 expression exists in thyroid cancer with normal thyroid or BTLs (benign thyroid lesions) and, under this premise, assess its diagnostic efficacy for thyroid cancer. Methods: Systematic electronic literature searches were conducted to include PubMed, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Web of Science. The combined fold change (FC) was calculated, and pooled estimates of sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) and summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curves were calculated. Results: Twenty-seven articles were included in this meta-analysis. The combined FC of miRNA-221/222 were 13.85 and 13.75 in thyroid cancer with normal control. For miRNA-221/222, the pooled sensitivity was 0.79 (95% CI = 0.73-0.85), specificity was 0.84 (95% CI = 0.76-0.90) and AUC (area under the curve) value was 0.88 (0.85-0.91). For miRNA-221, the pooled sensitivity was 0.82 (95% CI = 0.76-0.86) and specificity was 0.84 (95%CI = 0.74-0.91). For miRNA-222, the pooled sensitivity was 0.78 (95%CI = 0.68-0.85) and specificity was 0.83 (95% CI = 0.70-0.92). Conclusion: Differences in expression levels of miRNA-221/222 can provide clues for exploring the etiology of thyroid cancer. In addition, miRNA-221/222 were promising molecular biomarkers that may significantly improve the diagnostic accuracy of thyroid cancer.
Arterial stiffness (AS) is a predictor of coronary artery outcomes in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD). Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cf-PWV) is a commonly used method for assessing AS. This study aimed to assess the relationship between cf-PWV and clinical CVD events. Of the 786 studies identified, 19 studies were included in the final meta-analysis. Meta-analysis revealed that participants with high cf-PWV by 1 standard deviation (SD), 1 m/s, and cutoff points have a high pooled relative risk for CVD events (1 SD: 1.25, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.19-1.31; 1 m/s: 1.12, 95% CI: 1.07-1.18; and cutoff points: 1.80, 95% CI: 1.45-2.14) and CVD mortality (1 SD: 1.23, 95% CI: 1.15-1.31; 1 m/s: 1.09, 95% CI: 1.04-1.14; and cutoff points: 1.85, 95% CI: 1.46-2.24). In addition, we found that the predictive value of increased AS was higher in patients with higher disease risk for total CVD events and CVD mortality than in other patients. Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity is a useful biomarker to improve the prediction of CV risk for patients and identify high-risk populations who may benefit from aggressive CV risk factor management.
目的 了解2011-2014年安徽省马鞍山、池州、铜陵三个沿江地区恶性肿瘤的发病特征.方法 从安徽省肿瘤登记系统以及各级医疗报销系统收集马鞍山、池州、铜陵三地的恶性肿瘤发病数据,采用国际疾病标准编码进行分类,按照性别、年龄、年代以及肿瘤类型等计算粗发病率及年龄标化发病率.结果 2011-2014年间,安徽省沿江地区恶性肿瘤年均发病率为243.88/10万(男性为299.85/10万,女性为185.94/10万),标化率为170.81/10万(男性为201.41/10万,女性为135.82/10万).80~岁为恶性肿瘤发病最高的年龄组,90岁之后出现下降.全人群发病率前三位肿瘤分别是胃癌、肺癌和食管癌.四年间,肿瘤发病谱有轻微变化,其中脑癌、鼻咽癌发病顺位降低,甲状腺癌及膀胱癌发病顺位上升.结论 安徽省沿江地区恶性肿瘤发病率呈上升趋势,消化系统肿瘤仍然是威胁居民健康的主要疾病,是安徽省沿江地区肿瘤防治的重点.
BACKGROUND:Previous articles explored the role of UGT1A1 polymorphism on predicting irinotecan-induced toxicity, but the conclusions were still inconsistent and not comprehensive. We performed this meta-analysis to investigate the association between UGT1A1 polymorphism and irinotecan-induced toxicity.METHODS:PubMed and Web of Science were searched for articles before July 2017. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were set to select eligible articles, and corresponding data were extracted from those articles. Subgroup analyses based on different cancer categories, doses and races were carried out to achieve comprehensive results. Statistical analyses were conducted using STATA 11.0.RESULTS:A total of 38 studies with 6742 cases were included after reading full text. Both UGT1A1*6 and UGT1A1*28 polymorphism are significantly associated with severe irinotecan-induced toxicity. Both Asian and Caucasian cancer patients with UGT1A1*28 variant had an increased risk. Compared with heterozygous variant, patients with homozygous variant suffered from a higher risk of toxicity. The effect of UGT1A1*28 polymorphism on diarrhea was less than on neutropenia. Subgroup analysis exhibited that for UGT1A1*6 polymorphism, patients treated with low-dose irinotecan were at a notable risk of toxicity. Moreover, the association between UGT1A1*6 polymorphism and irinotecan-induced toxicity was found in patients suffering from respiratory system cancers.CONCLUSIONS:Both UGT1A1*6 and UGT1A1*28 polymorphisms can be considered as predictors of irinotecan-induced toxicity, with effect varying by race, cancer type and irinotecan dose.
采用多阶段分层随机整群抽样的方法,于2014年9月至2015年6月从安徽省三个地区(M、C、T地区)的7个乡镇中纳入2 621名18岁及以上当地居民作为研究对象,同时对其进行问卷调查以及尿液收集.分别采用电感耦合等离子体发射光谱仪、原子吸收分光光度计分析人群尿液中砷、镉水平.结果显示,三个地区总人群尿砷、镉的几何均数分别为79.10、1.55μg/g.随着年龄的增加,人群尿砷、镉水平随之增加(P<0.001);尿砷水平在吸烟、饮酒特征上具有统计学意义;在性别、地区、饮用水、燃料类型上尿砷、镉水平均存在统计学差异.提示安徽省工业地区成年居民尿砷、镉水平较其他地区高,且在个体行为和生活环境特征上的分布均存在差异.
Pentachlorophenol (PCP) was used in large quantities, and mainly for killing the intermediate host snails of schistosome in China, thereby resulting in ubiquitous PCP residue in the environment. However, studies considering the carcinogenicity of PCP for humans mainly focused on occupational workers, and the actual carcinogenicity of PCP for general population is uncertain. To investigate the association between cancer risks and PCP exposure in a community population, an ecological study was conducted in three contaminated areas along the Yangtze River. Standardized rate ratio (SRR) was calculated to represent the risk of cancer incidence, by using incidence in the low PCP exposure category as the reference group. A total of 15,962 cancer records were collected, and 76 water samples and 213 urine samples in three areas were examined. Our findings suggested that compared with the low PCP group, the high PCP group had significantly excessive incidences of various cancers related to different organs including lymph (SRR = 19.44, 95% CI = 15.00-25.19), blood (SRR = 17.24, 95% CI = 12.92-23.01), nasopharynx (SRR = 3.97, 95% CI = 3.75-4.21), gallbladder (SRR = 3.46, 95% CI = 3.09-3.87), pancreas (SRR = 3.41, 95% CI = 3.07-3.79), respiratory system (SRR = 3.41, 95% CI = 3.27-3.57) and liver (SRR = 3.31, 95% CI = 3.09-3.56). Taken together, our present study provides evidence that general community population exposed to high level of PCP exhibits a broader spectrum of increased cancer risks as compared to occupational groups. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the prevalence, awareness, treatment, control and related influence factors of hypertension among rural adult residents in areas along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province.METHODS:Totally 2873 rural adult residents in seven typical towns along the Yangtze River of Chizhou, Tongling and Ma'anshan Cities, Anhui Province were selected, with multistage-stratified random cluster sampling, to perform questionnaires and physical measurements from year 2014 to 2015.RESULTS:The prevalence of hypertension was 30. 7%( standardized prevalence was 18. 4%), the awareness rate was 50. 6%( standardized rate was 29. 0%), the treatment rate was40. 4%( standardized rate was 18. 7%), the control rate was 17. 7%( standardized ratewas 9. 3%) in rural areas along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province. The prevalence, awareness, treatment and control rates of hypertension were increased with age increase. Abdominal obesity( OR = 1. 855, 95% CI 1. 467-2. 344), family history of hypertension( OR = 1. 594, 95% CI 1. 265-2. 008), the average annual household income < 60 000 yuan and increased BMI were risk factors of hypertension in rural areas along the Yangtze River. Female( OR = 0. 734, 95% CI 0. 604-0. 891) was its protective factors. While the factors of awareness, treatment and control rates of hypertension were not same.CONCLUSION:The prevalence of hypertension is higher in the areas along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province. However, the awareness, treatment and control rate of hypertension are lower.
The rapid economic development and industrialization have made heavy metal contamination a great public concern, especially in China. However, the levels of heavy metals in human body, especially those susceptible to the effect of industrial progression, are rarely explored. In this study, eight elements in 2643 urinary samples of individuals living in rural areas along the Yangtze River were determined through inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (As, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb, and Zn) and TAS-990 atomic absorption spectrophotometry (Cd). Two-level regression model was applied to explore the potential factors associated with the level of the eight trace elements. After adjusting for urinary creatinine, the geometric means were 77.5, 10.98, 14.39, 13.00, 0.59, 1.51, 489.62, and 1.80 μg/g for As, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb, Zn, and Cd, respectively. The level of eight elements varied among individual and familial characteristics. Compared with domestic and international results, the rural residents living in riverside areas had higher level of As, Cd, Cr, Fe, and Zn. Therefore, industrial progression followed by economic development has resulted in high body burden of heavy metals. Targeted public health policies should be made to improve the local environment and the recognition of potential risk factors.
<span id="ChDivSummary" name="ChDivSummary" class="abstract-text">目的了解安徽省沿江地区居民超重肥胖的流行现状及其影响因素,为肥胖的预防控制提供参考依据。方法于2014年4—10月采用分层整群随机抽样方法对在安徽省沿江地区抽取的7 183名居民进行问卷调查和体格检查。结果安徽省沿江地区居民超重率和肥胖率分别为27.8%和6.5%,腹型肥胖率为36.9%;多因素非条件logistic回归分析结果显示,饮酒是安徽省沿江地区居民超重肥胖的危险因素,文化程度大专及以上和单身是安徽省沿江地区居民超重肥胖的保护因素;年龄≥65岁、女性、居住在农村和饮酒是安徽省沿江地区居民腹型肥胖的危险因素,文化程度大专及以上和单身是安徽省沿江地区居民腹型肥胖的保护因素。结论安徽省沿江地区居民肥胖率低于腹型肥胖率,年龄、性别、文化程度、婚姻状况、居住地区和饮酒情况是该地区居民超重肥胖和腹型肥胖的主要影响因素。</span>
目的 调查安徽省沿江地区成年居民尿铜、锌和铁水平,分析其影响因素.方法 采用多阶段整群随机抽样的方法,于2014年-2015年在安徽省A、B和C三个沿江地区,选取2 397名18岁及以上居民作为调查对象,进行问卷调查及尿液样本收集.采用电感耦合等离子体发射光谱仪检测尿中铜、锌和铁含量并进行肌酐校正,分析性别、年龄、地区以及生活方式对铜、锌和铁水平的影响.结果 安徽省沿江地区成年居民尿铜、锌和铁几何均数为12.8 μg/L、430.9μg/L和11.6 μg/L,肌酐校正几何均数为14.9 μg/g、500.2μg/g和13.4 μg/g;肌酐校正后,女性尿铜、锌、铁几何均数高于男性(P<0.05);不同年龄组居民尿铜、锌、铁几何均数差异都具有统计学意义(P<0.05),在≥60岁年龄组最高(17.8 μg/g、572.8 μg/g和24.0 μg/g);A、B和C三个地区成年居民尿铜、锌和铁几何均数差异均具有统计学意义(P<0.05),B地成年居民尿铜、铁含量最高(17.4μg/g和88.4 μg/g),C地居民尿锌含量最高(545.4 μg/g);吸烟人群尿铜、锌和铁水平低于不吸烟人群(P<0.05);饮酒居民尿铜、锌和铁水平低于不饮酒居民(P<0.05).结论 安徽省沿江地区成年居民尿中铜、锌和铁在不同年龄、性别、地区间均存在差异,并与吸烟和饮酒有关.
The present study was aimed at exploring the prevalence and factors associated with depressive symptoms among left-behind women in China. A sample of 938 participants (439 left-behind women and 499 non-left-behind women) was surveyed with self-rating questionnaire. The scores of depressive symptoms were higher in the left-behind women; and the overall prevalence of depressive symptoms was 34.54% for all participants and 46.69% for the left-behind women (mild, 40.77%; moderate/major, 5.92%). The status of left-behind is an independent risk factor of depressive symptoms in rural women. The multinomial logistic regression in the left-behind women indicated age, religious belief, annual individual income, impulsiveness, and active coping were associated with mild depressive symptoms; whereas age, religious belief, domestic violence, and active coping were associated with moderate/major depressive symptoms. Results suggest that depressive symptoms were prevalent among the left-behind women. The findings should be considered for the psychological intervention in the left-behind women.
The present study aimed to reflect the current situation of social participation in rural areas of China, willingness to participate in social activities, association between health‐related quality of life and social participation, and factors related to social participation.
目的 应用伤残调整寿命年(disability-adjusted life year,DALY)对安徽省某县2010-2012年的恶性肿瘤疾病负担情况进行综合评价.方法 以该县2010-2012年恶性肿瘤登记系统的监测资料为基础,计算和分析恶性肿瘤的发病率、死亡率和DALY,以此评价该县的恶性肿瘤疾病负担.结果 2010-2012年该县年均粗发病率222.10/10万、年均标化发病率133.75/10万、年均粗死亡率137.54/10万、年均标化死亡率78.31/10万.恶性肿瘤发病的前五位是气管,支气管,肺(C33-C34)、肝脏(C22)、胃(C16)、食管(C15)、结直肠肛门(C18-C21)恶性肿瘤,占所有恶性肿瘤发病的71.31%.恶性肿瘤所致的疾病负担为14.22 DALYs/千人,其中死亡损失寿命年(years of life lost,YLL)为13.23 DALYs/千人(93.01%),伤残损失寿命年(years lived with disability,YLD)为0.99DALYs/千人(6.99%),恶性肿瘤所致疾病负担的前五位依次是肝脏(C22)、气管,支气管,肺(C33-C34)、胃(C16)、食管(C15)、乳房(C50).结论 恶性肿瘤疾病负担主要是由早死所致,疾病负担主要集中在年龄≥45岁人群,恶性肿瘤的防治重点癌种是肝癌、肺癌、胃癌、食管癌和乳腺癌.
