Objective : Designing effective interdisciplinary scheme for the diagnosis and treatment of functional disorders of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Methods : 76 patients with complaints of pain, discomfort and constraint in masticatory muscles and TMJ, and headache were examined. When diagnosing, testing was carried out according to the Hamburg Protocol; according to its results three study groups were formed. Results: With minor initial functional changes in the muscles (group 1), splint therapy is sufficient to achieve the clinical effect. In more severe cases (2 nd and 3 rd groups), the use of transcranial electrical stimulation is effective, and muscle relaxants should be prescribed only if the latter is ineffective. Conclusions : An optimal differentiated scheme of interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of patients with functional TMJ disorders has been developed: an express examination according to the Hamburg Protocol determines the severity of the pathology, and electromyography is used not only as a diagnostic, but also as an evaluation criterion for the effectiveness of interdisciplinary rehabilitation at the intermediate and final stages.

Currently, miniscrews installed parallel to the roots are widely used in the practice of orthodontic treatment. When planning the placement of miniimplants, it is necessary to evaluate the anatomical factors that affect the stability of the miniscrew in the bone. For the analysis, we selected the zone of the external oblique line, where the thickness of bone tissue in the area of the first and second molars was estimated in the vertical and horizontal planes. As a result of the study, it was found that the area of the distal surface of the distal root of the second molar had the greatest thickness of bone tissue. An increase in the vestibular-oral thickness was also observed in the distal direction.
The objective of the study is to determine indications for alveolar bone reconstruction after tooth extraction according to orthodontic indications. Material and methods. 62 patients (first maturity level) with dental arch asymmetry due to loss of a premolar on one side of the mouth were examined and treated. Frontal-diagonal coefficient of the dental arch was used to determine the correlation between tooth size and dental arch parameters. Results. It has been demonstrated that changes of the alveolar ridge following the extraction of the first premolars in patients of the experimental group were less significant as compared with the controls. Conclusion. It is reasonable to apply this method simultaneously with the removal of a tooth for orthodontic indications or when the alveolar ridge in the post-extraction socket leaves insufficient bone volume.

The paper presents linear parameters of dental arches in 49 persons with macrodontia of permanent teeth in a comparative aspect with analogous parameters obtained from 83 persons, which teeth sizes correspond to the signs of normodontia. The basic linear parameters of the dental arches in person with macrodontia were authentically higher than with normodontia. At the same time relative rates such as dental diagonal coefficient and dental arch index didn’t depend on linear dimentions of teeth in physiologic occlusion. The difference between dental arch length of upper and low jaws in people with macrodontia was 6,94 ±0,72 mm, with normodontia – 5,96 ±0,67mm, that demonstrated proportional correspondence of dental arches dimentions of upper and low jaws.
The features of front teeth positions in people with optimal functional occlusion with different variants of macrodontia depending on value correspondence of dental sizes to dental arch parameters were defined. The correspondence of dental sizes to dental arches parameters was defined by frontal-distal diagonal of the alveolar arch. Front teeth were located in protrusion position and were characterized high torque (inclination angle) with inadequacy dental sizes to dental arches parameters under (to) 3 mm. The dental arch shape after treatment and achievement of optimal functional occlusion was similar to brachygnathic form with low torque of front teeth in people with incomplete dentition (as a result of premolar extraction according to orthodontic indications). The occlusive interrelations were attained after a treatment corresponding to signs of the optimal functional occlusion.
