Introduction: Variety of geological and geomorphological conditions in the Caucasian Mineral Waters (CMW) region determines a wide set of exogenous geological processes operating here, among which landslides are the most developed. Spread of landslides across CMW territory is zonal and their activity is determined by the regime of natural factors and the level of anthropogenic impact on the geological environment. Both factors are characterized by spatial and temporal variability, which determines the spatial and temporal variability of landslide manifestations. Materials and methods of the research: Main research method is the analysis of various sources containing information on the distribution and activity of landslides in CMW. Cartographic method was also used to visualize the landslide zones distribution in the study area. The results of the study and their discussion: Landslide activity analysis over the last 15 years (2004-2019) has been carried out, showing that it varies by year. For example, it increased in 2005, 2006, 2010, 2016-2019. An assessment of landslide susceptibility of the studied area was also carried out, which made it possible to establish that different areas had different landslide hazards. It's important to note that the analysis of the monitoring results of landslide activity made it possible to assess only in general terms the degree of landslide hazard and activity in the CMW territory, as the lack of large-scale landslide survey materials and maps (coordinates) of the exact location of major landslide areas doesn't allow presenting a complete picture of landslide development (with an assessment of the degree of their hazard) in the studied territory. Conclusions: Systematization and analysis made it possible to assess the conditions, causes, scale and hazard of landslides developed in the CMW. It was noted that in recent years, landslide activity in the region has been the most frequently driven by economic activity. Based on the results of the survey, CMW settlements that are most susceptible to landslide processes were identified and it was also found that the majority of landslide development occurred in the Predgorny District. Landslide cases leading to threatening situations along the CMW roads became more frequent. It was shown (also on maps) that landslides are most active in the vicinity of urban agglomerations.
Introduction: Stavropol Krai is subdivided into several geomorphological areas. One of them is the Kuban Plain, bounded by the Kuban and Bolshoi Zelenchuk River valleys and administrative boundaries. It's a coastal plain up to 30 km wide with absolute altitudes of 150-200 m. Due to the peculiarities of the hydrogeological and geomorphological structure the landslide processes are typically for this territory. They pose a threat to settlements and economic facilities. The purpose of the paper was to study the scale of landslide distribution and the activity of their manifestations in the landslide zones of the Kuban plain. Materials and methods of the research: main research method was the analysis of various sources containing information on the distribution and activity of landslides in Kuban plain. Cartographic method was also used to visualize the landslide zones distribution in the study area. The results of the study and their discussion: conditions for activation and spread of landslide processes in the Kuban plain were analyzed. It was found that factors of landslide activation are: atmospheric precipitation, erosion and less frequently - groundwater level changes and technogenic impact. The main landslides and potential landslide areas, which are located on the slopes of the ravines and ledges of the fluvial terraces are united into three landslide zones, which are characterized by different manifestation activity and hazard level. Unfortunately, now it's impossible to present a complete picture of landslide development, as there are no large-scale landslide survey materials and no maps of the exact location of the main landslide massifs within the Kuban plain. Conclusions: systematization and analysis allow to assess the conditions, formation causes, scale of development and the regime of activation of the landslides in the Kuban Plain in 2005-2019. During this period, natural factors had the greatest impact on landslide activity. Regular observations allow to assess the degree of landslide activity in different zones of the Kuban plain. This process prevailed in the Kazminskaya landslide zone. The most significant landslide motions were observed in 2005, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018. According to the survey results, the settlements most exposed to landslide processes were identified, and information on the scale of deformation of residential houses and economic facilities was provided.
Introduction: there are several geomorphological zones in the Stavropol Krai. One of them is the Stavropol Upland, located between the Kuma and Kuban Rivers and Kumo-Manych Depression. Due to the peculiarities of the hydrogeological and geomorphological structure the landslide processes are typically for this territory. They pose a threat to settlements and economic facilities. The purpose of the paper was to study the scale of landslide distribution and the activity of their manifestations in the landslide zones of the Stavropol Upland. Materials and methods of the research: main research method was the analysis of various sources containing information on the distribution and activity of landslides in Stavropol Upland. Cartographic method was also used to visualize the landslide zones distribution in the study area. The results of the study and their discussion: conditions for the activation and spread of landslide processes in the Stavropol Upland were analyzed. It was found out that the main factors of landslide activation are: atmospheric precipitation, erosion, groundwater level changes and technogenic impact. In addition, 4 main types of landslides were identified. Major landslides and potential landslide areas are confined to the western part of the Stavropol Upland and are combined into 16 landslide zones, which are characterized by different activity and landslide hazard. Unfortunately, now it’s impossible to present a complete picture of landslide development in the territory under study, as there are no large-scale landslide survey materials and no maps of the exact location of the main landslide massifs within the Stavropol Upland. Conclusions: systematization and analysis made it possible to assess the conditions and causes of landslides formation, the scale of their development and their mode in the Stavropol Upland during 2005-2019. In this 15-year period, natural factors had the greatest impact on the landslide activity. The degree of landslide activity in different landslide zones of the Stavropol Upland was determined. This process was mainly developed in the Tatarskaya and Prikalausskaya zones. The most significant landslide movements were observed in 2005, 2006, 2017-2019. According to the survey results, the settlements most exposed to landslide processes were identified, and information on the scale of deformation of residential houses and economic facilities was provided.
