The purpose of the study is the investigation of etiological, clinical and epidemiological features of HFRS, caused by Sochi virus in the Krasnodar area, as well as a comparative analysis of the data with those of HFRS, caused by Kurkino virus in the Central Russian regions and Puumala virus in the areas of Volga region. Materials and methods For the identification of HFRS patients, sera from more than 800 acute febrile patients residing in Krasnodar area were examined for hantavirus antibody by IFA with Puumala, Hantaan, Seoul, Sochi, Kurkino and Dobrava viruses. For primary screening there was used the indirect immunofluorescence (ELISA) method with polyvalent cultural antigen as for serotyping of positive sera according to affiliation of antibodies to various Hantaviruses species, there were used ELISA method with monovalent cultural antigens and the neutralization reaction with Puumala, Hantaan, Seoul, Sochi, Kurkino and Dobrava viruses with the use of the method of Inhibition of Focus-Forming Units assay. Clinical and epidemiological studies have been performed on the base of history cases and records of the epidemiological examination. Results of the study. During 2000 - 2013 there were identified 64 patients suffered from HFRS caused by the Sochi virus. The patients resided in 36 settlements of 10 administrative districts of the Krasnodar area. A comparative analysis of clinical, laboratory and epidemiological data of patients with HFRS-Sochi, HFRS-Kurkino and HFRS-Puumala viruses allowed to reveal differences between the clinical (frequency of registration and severity of several symptoms, severity of the course and mortality rate) and epidemiological (prevalence in rural and urban residents, occupational pattern, the seasonality of the disease, conditions of contamination) manifestations. Conclusion There was established the etiological and epidemiological importance of Sochi virus. Sochi virus causes sporadic annual incidence of HFRS in the territory of Krasnodar area. Cases of HFRS caused by the Sochi virus are differ in more severe course of the disease and high lethality rate in comparison with the other two forms of HFRS caused by Puumala and Kurkino viruses in the territory of the European part of Russia.
The work is devoted to clarify the etiological aspects of the hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), clinical and epidemiological features that are closely linked to the etiology, as well as to development of methods and products for specific diagnosis and vaccine prevention of hantavirus infection. That regard to hantaviruses a set of virological, immunological and molecular-genetics methods were developed significantly enhance the effectiveness of the specific diagnostics of HFRS. The features of humoral immunity in HFRS were identified and atypical clinical forms of HFRS was istablished; indicators of natural immunity to hantavirus in the population living in different regions of Russia and the former Soviet republics have been identified that allowed us to refine nosological area of HFRS; new, previously unknown natural foci of HFRS, including hantavirus RNA, in the central regions of Russia and in the subtropical zone of Krasnodar region have been identified and studied; 76 strains and 70 isolates of 9 rodent species and one species of birds, as well as from the blood of patients with HFRS and sectional materials from HFRS dead patients have been isolated and identified; new hantavirus species - Khabarovsk, Taimyr-Topografov, Adler, as well as two new genotypes Dobrava/Belgrad virus - Kurkino and Sochi have been identified; species composition of small mammals - the natural reservoir of hantaviruses was the refined; etiological role and epidemiological importance of different hantaviruse types in HFRS incidence structure was established; the existence of new etiologically distinct hantavirus infections with significant epidemiological differences has been proven; manufacturing techniques and methods of control of the culture inactivated vaccine against HFRS has been developed.

Sera of inhabitants of the European part of Russia, collected in 2010-2013 were studied with the use of ELISA and neutralization test. Antibodies to West Nile virus were detected in 19.6% of cases in the Astrakhan region, 4.5% - in the Krasnodar region, 0.9% - in the Saratov region and 5.4% - in the Stavropol region. The coincidence of the results of the examination of sera in ELISA-IgG and neutralization test accounted of 80.7% in the Astrakhan region, 72.2% - in the Krasnodar region and 69.2% - in the Saratov region. The presented results correlate with the incidence and duration of known epidemiological activity of West Nile fever in the territories of these regions. Analysis of our data, as well as statistics of the morbidity rate of West Nile fever in the Volgograd and Rostov regions and Dagestan confirm endemic and expanding foci of this infection in the southern regions of Russia, currently including Astrakhan, Volgograd, Rostov, Saratov, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions and Dagestan. The most active and stable foci are located on the territory of Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions.
Analyzed is the management system for laboratory diagnostics of infectious diseases during the XXII Olympics and XI Paralympics, 2014 in Sochi. Reviewed is piece of work, executed in the pre-Olympic period as regards provision of laboratory facilities deployed for clinical material investigation, development of normative and regulatory documentation which considers peculiarities of the situation, identification of diagnostic capacities of the laboratories, and forecasting of the probable volume of laboratory studies by reference to various groups of infections. Put forward is the procedure for arrangement of work at the different stages of laboratory diagnostics, cooperation and response in case of emergency situation in the sphere of sanitary-epidemiological welfare of the population. Discussed is the role of geo-information system and current means of monitoring over epidemiological situation in the participating states and in the region of the Olympics in laboratory support organization.
The paper contains the data on the morbidity rates as regards natural-focal infectious diseases and results of epizootiological monitoring in the locality of the XXII Olympic and XI Paralympic Winter Games-2014 in Sochi. It is demonstrated that the significant ones in the infectious disease incidence chart are hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome, Ixodidae tick-borne borrelioses, pseudotuberculosis, intestinal yersiniosis, leptospiroses, rabies, rickettsiosis, and tularemia. Represented are the data on the peculiarities of a number of regional pathogenic strains. Noted is fact that complex activities, which were carried out by the agencies and institutions of the Rospotrebnadzor, Krasnodar Territory and Sochi resort-town Administration, allowed for the stabilization of the situation on natural-focal infections.
In the paper there are presented the basic principles of the organization of activities for the assurance ofthe sanitary- epidemiological welfare in the period ofpreparation and hosting of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in the Resort City of Sochi. There are considered features of the organization ofepidemiological surveillance in the pre-Olympic period, the period of the games and the state of the morbidity rate in the region after the Olympics. There are presented data on certain directions of the work of organs and institutions of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare on the disease control of the event.
Sera from patients with acute seasonal fevers and apparently healthy individuals living in the Astrakhan Region, Krasnodar Territory, or Rostov Region were examined in two modifications of enzyme immunoassay for detection of IgM and IgG antibodies to Neapolitan and Sicilian pappataci fever viruses. IgM antibodies to Sicilian pappataci fever virus were detected in a patient from the Volodarsky District, Astrakhan Region, who had been admitted for the unverified diagnosis of Q fever. A donor residing in the Novorossiysk District, Krasnodar Territory, was found to have IgA antibodies to Neapolitan pappataci fever virus. The findings show it expedient to conduct further investigations of the serodiagnosis and seroepidemiology of pappataci fevers in the southern Russian region where mosquitoes of the genus Phlebotomus inhabit.
