This paper provides data on 26 new, rare, and interesting species of lichens discovered in the city of Moscow and Moscow Region during the field studies in 2014–2022, of which 21 species are new to the study area. Fellhaneropsis vezdae is new to the European part of Russia, and Briancoppinsia cytospora, Thelidium minimum, and Verrucaria inaspecta are new to the Central Russia. The list of lichens and allied fungi of the city of Moscow and Moscow Region currently includes 493 species.
The diagnostic role of lichens associated with their indicator properties is reflected at different levels of the syntaxonomical hierarchy of psammophytic grass vegetation. The aims of this article are to characterise the diversity of the lichen groupings of psammophytic grass communities in the Southern Non-Chernozem zone of Russia and to evaluate the indicator and diagnostic capabilities of lichens in the classification of this type of vegetation. The authors used 106 releves for the analysis made within Bryansk, Kaluga, and Smolensk oblasts of Russia (between 52 degrees 00' and 54 degrees 50' N, 30 degrees 60' and 36 degrees 30' E). The climate of the oblasts is temperate continental with moderately cold winters and moderately warm summers. According to the botanico-geographical zoning, the territory of the study area is divided by conditional boundaries of three sub-provinces: ValdaiskOnezhskaya (Eurasian taiga zone), where broad-leaved-spruce forests on soddy-podzolic soils are zonal; Polesskaya (Eastern European broad-leaved forest zone) with zonal broad-leaved forests with spruce on soddy-podzolic and gray forest soils; Central Russian (Eastern European broad-leaved forest zone), where broad-leaved forests without spruce on gray forest soils are zonal. Vegetation classification was implemented using the J. Braun- Blanquet approach. The lichens with a coefficient value above 20 (p < 0.05) and constancy above 20% were assigned to the diagnostic species for the syntaxa. The ecological regimes of habitats of communities were assessed using the scales of H. Ellenberg and E. Landolt based on unweighted average values in the JUICE program. DCA- ordination is implemented using the R package (https:// www.r-project. org) integrated with the JUICE. The correlation of ordination axes with environmental factors was determined using the Kendall correlation coefficient in the PC-ORD 5.0 program. The differences in habitats of the established syntaxa according to the studied environmental factors were assessed by the Krusker-Wallace test. The releves used for the analysis belong to 3 associations within 3 alliances and 2 orders of the class of psammophytic grass vegetation of Europe Koelerio-Corynephoretea canescentis Klika in Klika et Novak 1941; and 5 more releves belong to non-rank 'communities' within the same class representing different stages and ecological and geographical variants of the settlement of psammophytic habitats. The terricolous lichen groupings of the examined psammophytic communities include 36 species and show considerable similarity with that in the pine forests of the region. The richness in lichens in communities from the subtaiga is twice as high as in the sample of releves from the broad-leaved forest zone. In watershed psammophytic communities of the broad-leaved forest zone, this indicator is the lowest, and the noted lichen species are mainly eurytopic and widespread. A trend towards a greater azonal nature of the terricolous lichen groupings of psammophytic communities was revealed in the broad-leaved forest zone, while in the southern subtaiga, the composition of lichens of such phytocoenoses has well- defined boreal features. A small number of lichens show high fidelity to individual syntaxa, determined on the basis of constancy indicators and values of the statistical f-coefficient. Not a single species is characterised by its high value, despite the high rates of constancy of some species in certain coenofloras. Therefore, in our opinion, it is inappropriate to include the listed species in the diagnostic combinations of the corresponding syntaxa. Using the DCA- ordination method, it was demonstrated that the gradients of lichen groupings parameters have the highest correlation at a statistically significant level with the complex gradient of the mineral nitrogen richness of the substrate and light.
The article presents the results of field studies in 2021–2022 and revision of the lichenological collection of A.V. Gudovicheva collected in the period from 2000 to 2021. The list of lichen flora of the Tula Region is supplemented with 34 taxa: 28 lichens, 2 allied saprotrophic fungi, and 4 lichenicolous fungi. Cladonia conista, Lecanora sarcopidoides, Lichenodiplis lichenicola, Marchandiomyces corallinus and Pyrenodesmia chalybaea are listed for the first time for the territory of Central Russia (within the Central Federal District). Bactrospora dryina, Chaenotheca hispidula, Cladonia parasitica and Cresponea chloroconia, as indicators of old-growth intact forest communities, are recommended to be included in the list of rare and vulnerable lichen species. The populations of these species need constant monitoring and control in the Tula Region.

Вид сравнительно недавно выделен из Ramalina pollinaria-group, включен в Красную книгу города Москвы и предложен к занесению в список охраняемых видов лишайников Московской области. Ревизия образцов Ramalina pollinaria и R. farinacea, собранных с начала ХХ в. до начала ХХ1 вв. в гербарии MW показывает, что вид встречался в Московском регионе и в этот период. В результате объединения полученной информации с новыми данными о находках Ramalina europaea при нанесении на карту удалось получить актуальные сведения о географии и экологии вида, а также о его обилии в Московском регионе.
A study of the trunks of spruce and birch trees after a windblow on the territory of the Zvenigorod Biological Station of Moscow State University and the Sima Quarry Nature Reserve (Moscow oblast) was carried out. The diversity of epiphytic lichens depending on height of the trunk was studied. It is shown that the position on the tree trunk significantly affects the number of identified lichen species, which increases monotonously with height. Both spruce and birch trees are characterized by a high non-matching diversity of lichen biota in the lower and upper parts of the trunk (and especially in the crown). The complex of the dominant lichen species was changing throughout trunks examined. It is noted that the finds of Bryoria and Usnea spp. protected in the Moscow oblast are concentrated in the upper part of the trunks.
Records of fifteen species of lichenized and ten species of lichenicolous fungi are presented. Lecanora substerilis, Rufoplaca subpallida, Sarcogyne praetermissa and Verrucaria fuscoatroides are reported as new for Russia. Didymocyrtis epiphyscia s. lat., Epithamnolia longicladoniae, Lecanora barkmaniana and Sclerococcum epicladonia are new for the European part of Russia, and Arthonia phaeophysciae, Bacidina mendax, Cladonia novochlorophaea, Gyalecta carneola, Lichenoconium aeruginosum and Verrucaria pilosoides are new for central European Russia. A further nine species (Cliostomum corrugatum, Gyalecta derivata, Lichenoconium lecanorae, Micarea soralifera, Physciella chloantha, Taeniolella phaeophysciae, Talpapellis beschiana, Telogalla olivieri, Verrucaria ochrostoma) were rarely observed in central European Russia previously. Short notes on the characters and the geographic distribution of the species are provided.
The checklist of 56 lichen species and 4 allied non-lichenized saprotrophic fungi is presented. It complements the previously available information on the lichen biota of the Bryansk Region. Lecanora stanislai, Micarea pusilla, and Physconia grumosa are recorded for the first time in Central Russia, 38 other species are new to the Bryansk Region. Calicium quercinum, Cladonia decorticata, C. homosekikaica, and Stereocaulon condensatum are rare species in Central Russia. We consider a number of species as indicators of biologically valuable forest and park landscapes in coniferous-broadleaved and broadleaved subzones in Central Russia. Recommendations on expanding the list of protected lichen species in Bryansk Region are given.
Monitoring studies of the last 10 years devoted to identifying the condition of rare and vulnerable lichen species in Ryazan Region allowed clarifying their distribution in the region and their status in the Red Data Book. This article provides information on 53 new locations of 26 rare lichen species, 14 of which were first recommended for inclusion in the main list of protected species for the 3rd edition of the Red Data Book of Ryazan Oblast.
The results of the first lichenological studies in the old park of the museum-reserve “Gorki Leninsky” (Leninsky urban district of the Moscow oblast) are presented. The checklist of lichen biota is given including 71 species of lichens and 3 species of allied non-lichenized fungi from 40 genera, 25 families. Acarospora moenium (Vain.) Räsänen, Lecania erysibe (Ach.) Mudd are new species for Moscow oblast. Four indicator species of biologically valuable forest and park communities are identified: Alyxoria varia, Biatoridium monasteriense, Chaenotheca stemonea, Physconia perisidiosa. The absolute index of lichen biota species richness of the park of the museum-reserve “Gorki Leninsky” is higher than in the previously studied parks of the museum-reserve “Abramtsevo”, the museum-reserve of A. S. Pushkin and the museum-estate “Ostafyevo” – “Russian Parnassus”. However, the relative index of species richness (Menchinic Index) of the lichen biota of the park “Gorki Leninsky” is lower than that of the park “Abramtsevo”, located in the area with less anthropogenic load. Nitrophilic species prevail over acidophilic species in the lichen cover of oak and birch, which have an “acidic” pH of bark in the background conditions, in the surveyed part of the territory of the park “Gorki Leninsky”. The revealed ratio of acidophytes and nitrophytes in the lichen cover of oak and birch, and the absence of species highly sensitive to dusting and air pollution indicate a significant anthropogenic load on the surveyed park community, in particular, nitrogen pollution.
This article addresses the phytocoenotic diversity of psammophytic grass communities in the southern part of the nonchernozem zone of Russia, where the restoration of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) is either ongoing or potentially possible. Community structure and composition formation trends developing under the influence of key environmental and coenotic factors have been identified. The studies were carried out in Bryansk, Kaluga, and Smolensk oblasts in 2010–2018; over 150 geobotanical releves of psammophytic grass communities have been produced. This vegetation belongs to the class Koelerio-Corynephoretea Klika 1931, which combines dry grasslands on sandy soils and rocky outcrops in the temperate and boreal zones of Europe, on islands of the North Atlantic, and in Greenland. Differences between environmental regimes of various habitats occupied by psammophytic communities have been identified. In most cases, the environmental amplitudes of syntaxonomic units vary significantly by the three key edaphic factors (moisture, soil reaction, and soil richness in mineral nitrogen) and form pretty compact environmental spaces: within each syntaxon, numerical values of the above factors, expressed in score points, normally vary within a narrow range. Regression analysis has established that the species richness of psammophytic communities depends statistically significantly only on the mineral nitrogen supply and soil moisture. Based on the statistical analysis results, the number of Pinus sylvestris plants of any age does not depend on the species richness in the community, total projective cover of the grass stand (excluding the Scots pine), separately calculated moss and lichen projective covers, and average numerical values of environmental factors identified by H. Ellenberg in the community. It is established that numbers of pine trees on study sites depend on only one factor: distance from the diaspora source determining the invasion possibility. The data on the phytocoenotic and floristic diversity of the psammophytic grass vegetation are to be incorporated into the unified database on the southern part of the nonchernozem zone of Russia to identify environmental and botanical–geographical features of this plant community type in the region.
The article presents the results of lichenological studies at the territories of Meshchersky National Park (Klepiky district and Ryazan district of the Ryazan Region, Russia) and Meshchera National Park (Gus-Khrustalny district of the Vladimir Region, Russia). Both Protected Areas represent an entire natural-anthropogenic area created in 1992 to preserve the unique forests and wetlands of the Meshchera Lowland, and to restore forest-marsh territories damaged by draining and long-term extraction of peat. Both the national parks are located in the centre of the Meshchera Lowland, in the basin of the River Pra (left-side tributary of the River Oka), and its tributaries-the River Buzha and the River Pol. In 2008-2018, we studied the lichen diversity using the traditional route method with more detailed studies within 64 sample plots. The following habitat types were inspected: pine forests, mixed forests and small-leaved forests, floodplain oak forest, swamps, meadows and heaths, shores of water bodies, and anthropogenic biotopes. Material of previous studies was also included in the analysis. An annotated list included 199 lichen species and eight non-lichenised fungus-related species which are traditionally counted in lichen lists. They belong to 88 genera and 43 families. The similarity of the lichen lists of the two national parks is 0.63 according to the Sorensen-Dice index. Cladonia bacilliformis, Lecania naegelii, Peltigera polydactylon, Porpidia crustulata, Pycnora praestabilis, and Xylopsora caradocensis were new species for the Vladimir region. Cladonia bacilliformis, C. cervicornis, C. floerkeana, and Stictis mollis were new species for the Ryazan region. Cetraria ericetorum, Cladonia bacilliformis, C. cervicornis, C. floerkeana, Peltigera extenuata, Stictis mollis were new species for the Meshchersky National Park. Chaenotheca furfuracea, Cladonia bacilliformis, Lecania naegelii, Peltigera polydactylon, Porpidia crustulata, Pycnora praestabilis, Xylopsora caradocensis were new for the Meshchera National Park. Acrocordia gemmata, Bacidia rubella, Chaenotheca stemonea, Chaenothecopsis pusiola, and Cladonia parasitica were considered as indicators of old-growth and undisturbed forests. Four rare species (Bryoria fuscescens, B. nadvornikiana, Cetraria ericetorum, and Peltigera extenuata) are listed in the Red Data Book of the Ryazan region. The following 19 species are rare for the centre of European Russia: Absconditella delutula, Acarospora versicolor, Arthonia fusca, Bacidia friesii, Biatora albohyalina, Cladonia sulphurina, Lecania suavis, Lecanora fuscescens, Micarea erratica, Microcalicium ahlneri, Ochrolechia androgyna, Porpidia soredizodes, Rhizocarpon reductum, Stictis mollis, Thelocarpon laureri, Thelloma ocellatum, Toninia athallina, Trapelia placodioides, and Xanthoparmelia stenophylla. In total, the species richness of lichen biotas in both national parks is equivalent to that in the Oka State Nature Reserve (208 species).
В результате лихенологических исследований, проведенных в 2018 г., уточнен список лихенобиоты Теллермановского опытного лесничества, включающий 114 видов из 62 родов лишайников и близких к ним грибов.Среди выявленных видов Arthonia didyma, Bacidia fraxinea, Bacidina phacodes, Gyalecta flotowii, Gyalecta truncigena, Ramalina calicaris, Ramalina europaea и Ramalina fastigiata впервые указаны для Центрального Черноземья.Еще два вида -Chaenotheca phaeocephala и Bactrospora dryina -впервые обнаружены в Воронежской области.Все упомянутые виды, за исключением Ramalina europaea и Bacidina phacodes, крайне редко отмечались в Центральной России.Наибольшим богатством и специфичностью лихенобиоты характеризуются нагорные дубняки Теллермановского опытного лесничества, в которых выявлены 92 вида, 24 (26,1 %) из них встречены только в данной группе типов леса.Установлено, что среди выявленных к настоящему моменту в Теллермановском опытном лесничестве -6 видов лишайников, занесенных в Красную книгу Воронежской области:
Thirteen lichen and allied fungi taxa are treated, of which one (Dactylospora microspora) is recorded for the first time for Russia from Bryansk oblast, two (Gyalideopsis helvetica and Sclerophora amabilis) are new for the European part of Russia, and two (Melaspileella proximella and Trapeliopsis pseudogranulosa) are new for central European Russia. Short notes on their characters and distributions are provided.
First records of aphyllophoroid fungi for the Novgorod Region, myxomycetes for the Volgograd and Novosibirsk regions and Altai Territory, rust fungi for the Trans-Baikal Territory, lichens for the Tver and Moscow regions, lichenicolous fungus for Russia and the Republic of Dagestan, mosses for the Republic of Buryatia and data on their localities, habitats, distribution are provided.
