Background: Hearing loss is one of the health problems among Indonesian workers, with one of the cause being uncontrolled noise exposure. Noise levels in each region of Indonesia vary depending on the number and type of industries in the area. This situation increases the risk of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL), especially among productive workers aged 15–49 who are continuously exposed to noise. Objectives: This study aims to describe the prevalence and analyze the association between noise exposure and hearing loss among workers aged 15–49 years using Global Burden of Disease (GBD) data. Methods: This study employed a descriptive analysis design using Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) and Summary Exposure Value (SEV) data from 32 provinces. Regression analysis was conducted to assess the association between noise exposure and the burden of hearing loss. Results: The study results showed that noise levels and disease burden varied across provinces. The Summary Exposure Value (SEV) for highest noise exposure was observed in Yogyakarta (9.40), followed by North Sulawesi (9.17), and Bali (9.15). The highest Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) were recorded in West Java (109,204.28 per 100,000 population), followed by East Java (85,966.51 per 100,000 population), and Central Java (79,062.85 per 100,000 population). Regression analysis indicated a weak association between noise and hearing loss (R²=0.179). Conclusion: Noise levels in Indonesia vary across provinces, with Yogyakarta, North Sulawesi, and Bali showing the highest levels. This variation is influenced by the type and number of vehicles, noise intensity, and other contributing factors. West Java, East Java, and Central Java have the highest disease burden. However, the weak association between noise exposure and disease burden suggests that hearing loss is not solely caused by noise exposure.
Antibiotics are widely used in human and veterinary medicine and are continuously introduced into aquatic environments through wastewater discharge. This study applied wastewater-based epidemiology to investigate the occurrence, fate and consumption of the four last-resort antibiotics: colistin, polymyxin B, vancomycin and meropenem in northern Malaysia from December 2021 to January 2022. Influent and effluent samples were collected from 18 sewage treatment plants and analysed using solid-phase extraction coupled with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. All targeted antibiotics were detected, predominantly at concentrations below 1 mu g/L, with meropenem and polymyxin B showing the highest detection frequencies. Estimated per capita consumption indicated greater usage of polymyxin B and vancomycin compared to meropenem and colistin. The persistence of certain antibiotics in treated effluents highlights limitations of conventional biological treatment and underscores the need for improved monitoring and regulatory strategies to mitigate environmental and antimicrobial resistance risks.
Background: Mechanical failure, age and poor quality of machines, and heavy equipment can cause mining accidents or disasters. Accidents in mining can be caused by equipment and handling of heavy loads, mechanical failure, safety management, poor leadership and work environment, unsafe actions, inexperienced workers, and lack of rules, regulations, training and safety education. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyse risk opportunities for enhancing heavy equipment employee protection performance. Method: This study used a qualitative method, by using Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Opportunities (HIRARO) methods to identify work hazards in mining areas and opportunities to control them to improve safety performance. Result: The risk management that has been carried out by the company does not use a hierarchy of controls, but goes directly to preventive measures with moderate status. Conclusion: Risk management in in East Kalimantan heavy equipment companies still needs to be improved in terms of preventing accidents and occupational health by adding risk level after initial controls, to obtain post-initial control risk levels, as well as proper additional controls and take into account the opportunities to enhance OSH performance or reduce risks.
Background: The level of work productivity is quite a fatal problem because its concerns the country’s economic stability. Based on data from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) for 2022. Indonesia has a relatively low work productivity ranking, still around 74,4 percent, while average ASEAN productivity figure is 78,2 percent. The level of working productivity can be caused by several factors such as the work environment. One thing that can support the health of the workers is herbs.Objectives: The aim of this research is to analyze the level of employee productivity in the metal manufacturing department of fertilizer company.Method: This research was performed as an analytical observational study employing a cross-sectional design. A total of 131 individuals were chosen for the research sample using a systematic random sampling method. The data collection process includes evaluating knowledge levels using a questionnaire developed by the author, analyzing respondents' consumption habits through the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), and assessing work productivity with the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ). This study utilized Spearman Correlation and Chi-Square methods for data analysis.Results: The results showed that there was no relationship between work productivity and level of knowledge (p=0.972) and consumption patterns (p=0.553). However, there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and consumption patterns (p=0.002).Conclusions: The conclusion of this research is that there is no relationship between the main variables studied and the level of knowledge or consumption patterns. However, the independent variables, namely the level of knowledge and consumption patterns, have a relationship with each other. The absence of relationships can be caused by various factors that have more weight, such as motivation, work environment, support from fellow colleagues and superiors, and time management.Keywords: Knowledge Level, Consumption Patterns, Work Productivity Level, Employees, Herbal Drinks.
Traditional batik tulis production in Indonesia is predominantly conducted in naturally ventilated home-based workshops that integrate residential and production functions, yet occupational exposure is often assessed at the building level, overlooking differences among functionally distinct workplaces. This study presents an integrated assessment of air pollutant exposure and thermal stress across indoor dyeing, semi-indoor dyeing, and wax removal workplaces in traditional batik production houses in Kampung Batik Laweyan, Surakarta, Indonesia. Continuous measurements of PM₂.₅, PM₁₀, CO₂, total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), formaldehyde (HCHO), temperature, humidity, and thermal stress indicators were conducted over four consecutive days during regular production activities. The results revealed substantial spatial and temporal heterogeneity in environmental exposure. Contrary to the common assumption that greater openness promotes healthier environments, the semi-indoor dyeing workplace emerged as the primary exposure hotspot, exhibiting peak PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ concentrations of approximately 202 μg/m³ and 276 μg/m³, respectively. Pollutant concentrations were dominated by short-duration production-related episodes rather than background conditions, demonstrating the limitations of average-based assessments. To evaluate cumulative environmental burden, an Integrated Exposure Risk Index (IERI) was developed by combining indoor air quality and thermal stress indicators. The analysis identified two complementary exposure mechanisms: persistent thermal stress, which accounted for approximately 55–85% of the total exposure risk, and episodic air pollution, which substantially amplified exposure during active production periods. Consequently, the semi-indoor dyeing workplace repeatedly exceeded the reference threshold and recorded the highest IERI value of approximately 2.6. These findings highlight the importance of functional workplace differentiation and integrated exposure assessment for identifying environmental risk hotspots and supporting targeted occupational health interventions in traditional craft-based industries.
Longmen calligraphy is one of the highest achievements of Weibei calligraphy and plays a significant role in helping young learners acquire Weibei calligraphy skills. Chinese calligraphy is a compulsory subject for young learners; however, their interest in learning calligraphy has declined in recent years. This study investigates the expectations and satisfaction of young Chinese visitors regarding the image symbolism of Longmen calligraphy works. A quantitative research approach was adopted, and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) was employed to analyse the data. The sample consisted of 407 young visitors to the Longmen Grottoes. The study examined visitors’ expectations and satisfaction levels to identify their preferences for the image symbolism of five selected calligraphy works. Based on the findings, this study proposes strategies to enhance young people’s interest in learning calligraphy.
Introduction: Hotel workers are at heightened risk of developing Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WRMSDs) due to the physically demanding and psychosocially challenging nature of their job tasks. This study aimed to deter mine the prevalence of WRMSDs and examine their association with work-related risk factors among hotel workers in the Klang Valley. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a Malay-translated self-ad ministered questionnaire distributed to 310 hotel workers, achieving a response rate of 91.29%. WRMSD symptoms were assessed using the validated Malay version of the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (M-NMQ), while psychosocial risk factors were measured with the Malay-validated Job Content Questionnaire (M-JCQ). Additional socio-demographic, occupational, and health-related information was also collected. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS to generate descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The 12-month prevalence of WRMSDs was 79.0% (n = 215). The most commonly affected body regions were the neck (54.0%) and lower back (50.2%), whereas the knee was the least affected (41.9%). Respondents reported that WRMSDs negatively impacted their quality of life, necessitated medical attention, limited mobility, and contributed to work absenteeism. High job demands (72.1%), low job control (53.7%), poor job support (55.1%), and high physical demands (61.4%) were commonly reported. Inferential analysis revealed significant associations between WRMSDs and psychosocial factors (job control and job support), as well as physical demands (p < 0.05). Conclusion: WRMSDs represent a substantial occupational health issue among hotel workers in the Klang Valley, influenced by both physical and psychosocial work-related factors. Targeted interventions, strengthened workplace policies, and enhanced awareness initiatives are essential to safe guard workers’ health and improve overall productivity within the hotel sector.
Background: Toluene is a chemical widely used in industry as a solvent or a mixture of other chemicals. Occupational toluene exposure can occur in painting, laboratories, car repair shops, and other industrial workplaces. Toluene exposure may cause epigenetic alterations and DNA methylation, which can lead to gene inactivation and may contribute to cancer development and other adverse health outcomes. Purpose: This systematic review aims to determine the effect of toluene on DNA methylation in workers. Review: The method of this research was a systematic review of the databases PubMed and Google Scholar. The inclusion criteria were studies involving workers exposed to toluene and employing experimental or observational studies published in English and within the last ten years. A total of five articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. Result: Toluene exposure may cause epigenetic alterations and DNA methylation. The impact of toluene exposure on DNA methylation included gene inactivation, placental dysfunction, miscarriage, and increased risk of cancer. Conclusion: The findings of this systematic review highlight the importance of reducing occupational exposure to toluene. Industries should consider replacing toluene with more environmentally friendly alternatives, such as ethyl acetate, ethylcyclohexane, n-butyl acetate, and propylene glycol monomethyl ether, to minimize health risks to workers.
Introduction: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) are a major occupational health concern, affecting workers' well-being and productivity. They also burden organizations with higher healthcare costs, absenteeism, and reduced productivity. Key physical factors contributing to WRMSDs include poor ergonomics, incorrect workstation setups, and repetitive movements. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study of 49 office workers from various Malaysian universities used a questionnaire with sections on socio-demographics, physical factors, general ques tions, and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) to identify WRMSD causes. Results: Most respondents reported WRMSD issues in the office, with a 12 month prevalence showing knees most affected (63.3%), followed by the upper back (30.6%) and lower back (22.4%). Significant associations were found between insufficient breaks and WRMSDs in the last seven days (p-value < 0.001) and working near physical limits and WRMSDs in the past 12 months (p-value = 0.004). Conclusion: The study concluded that physical factors significantly influence WRMSD development among university office workers in Malaysia. Implementing specific preventive measures can reduce WRMSD risks, promoting a healthier and more positive work environment for university office staff.
Background: Oxidative stress can cause health problems for workers and affect productivity for workers. Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels a biomarkers for systemic oxidative stress. Car painting and body repair businesses play a crucial role in preventing corrosion and damage from crashes by employing a variety of processes. The worker in the stage poses the highest risk of exposure to the chemical substance known as toluene. Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship of toluene intake with Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Methods: This study employed an observational research design with a cross-sectional method. All 30 car painting workshop workers in sanding, caulking, painting, polishing, and finishing are included in this research. Workers were measured for exposure to Toluene and Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Data were analyzed descriptively and statistically. Results: Almost half of the total workers are adults. More than half of the total workers have a working period of 8 hours/day, have a working period of up to 10 years, and BMI in the normal category. Only a small number of workers do not smoke. Toluene exposure that enters the body of workers has more than the reference dose and is found in more than half of the total workers. Most workers have optimal LDL. More than half of the total workers have low MDA. The results of the Toluene exposure test with LDL obtained p = 0.098, and toluene exposure with MDA (malondialdehyde) obtained p = 0.045. Conclusion: There is a relationship between Toluene and MDA, but not with LDL. This indicates the need for efforts to anticipate Toluene exposure in companies to prevent oxidative stress, preceded by an increase in MDA. Background Car painting workers are at risk of health problems, particularly kidney disorders, due to exposure to solvents containing benzene as the main ingredient in the car painting process. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between benzene and Risk Quotient (RQ) benzene concentrations with Malondialdehyde (MDA), Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine levels in workers exposed to benzene in car painting workshops in Surabaya. Methods This study used an observational design with a cross-sectional method conducted at two car paint workshops in Surabaya. The study population was all workers exposed to benzene in the two car paint workshops, aged between 20-65 years in 2019. The sample was taken using an random sampling method, involving 30 respondents. Inclusion criteria included workers exposed to benzene and willing to participate, while exclusion criteria included workers with a liver or kidney disease history. The variables studied included benzene concentration, benzene RQ (benzene metabolite), malondialdehyde (MDA) levels as a marker of oxidative stress, and indicators of kidney function (BUN and creatinine levels). Data were analyzed using descriptive and bivariate analysis with Pearson correlation test. Results There was no significant relationship between concentrations, RQ benzene, and MDA levels in workers in painting in Surabaya (p> 0.05). There was no significant relationship between benzene concentration, BUN levels, and creatinine levels in paint workers in Surabaya (p> 0.05). There was no significant relationship between benzene RQ and BUN and creatinine levels in paint workers in Surabaya (p> 0.05). Conclusions This study's results indicate that benzene's effects do not lead to impaired kidney function. The benzene RQ variable in this study did not become a determining factor in BUN and creatinine levels in workers.
Kebisingan merupakan salah satu masalah lingkungan yang sering terjadi di tempat kerja, terutama di industri manufaktur. Paparan kebisingan yang berlebihan dan berkepanjangan dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan bagi pekerja, seperti Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). PT. Wijaya Karya Beton, Tbk. PPB Pasuruan dalam proses produksinya, perusahaan ini menggunakan berbagai mesin dan peralatan yang dapat menghasilkan tingkat kebisingan yang cukup tinggi. Untuk mengatasi masalah kebisingan di PT. Wijaya Karya Beton, Tbk. PPB Pasuruan perlu dibuatnya gambaran kebisingan dengan menggunakan peta kebisingan, sehingga dapat dilakukannya pemantauan. Selain itu menerapkan program NIHL (Noise Induced Hearing Loss) diperlukan untuk mencegah dan mengurangi risiko kehilangan pendengaran pada pekerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk menggambarkan kebisingan menggunakan peta kebisingan dan memberikan rekomendasi upaya pengendalian kebisingan berupa Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif observasional dengan data primer dari observasi langsung dan data sekunder dari pengukuran kebisingan yang dilakukan oleh PT. Envilab Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat kebisingan di beberapa area produksi melebihi ambang batas yang diizinkan, dengan intensitas kebisingan tertinggi mencapai 89,7 dBA. Rekomendasi yang diberikan mencakup penggunaan alat pelindung telinga, pemantauan kebisingan secara berkala, dan edukasi pekerja mengenai bahaya kebisingan. Implementasi program NIHL diharapkan dapat mengurangi risiko kehilangan pendengaran serta meningkatkan kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja.
This study investigates the occurrence and mass loading of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in sewage treatment plants (STPs) across Penang, Malaysia. Seventeen PFAS compounds were analysed in influent and effluent samples from 10 STPs serving approximately 700 000 residents. The highest influent concentrations were recorded for perfluoropentanoic acid (PFPeA) at 5329.7 ng/L and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) at 2634.6 ng/L. After treatment, concentrations of PFPeA and PFOA were reduced to 430.0 and 672.5 ng/L, respectively. Eight of the 10 STPs achieved PFAS removal efficiencies exceeding 50%. Although recent technologies such as nanofiltration membranes, modified activated carbon and hybrid advanced oxidation processes have demonstrated effectiveness in PFAS removal, these methods are not yet adopted in Malaysia. Using a wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) approach, the highest mass load was observed at STP Bandar Baru Bertam Perdana (4799.5 mg/1000 inhabitants/day). These findings provide essential baseline data to inform regulatory strategies for PFAS control in Malaysia.
Introduction: Xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon with colourless, flammable, and volatile characteristics. The main exposure occurs through inhalation, as paint solvent vapor is released during the spray-painting process and can be inhaled by workers in the car painting area in Surabaya. One way to deal with xylene exposure in the workplace is to detoxify xylene through foods containing the enzymes CYP2E1 and Glycine. Objective: This study aims to predict the detoxification of xylene through food intake containing the CYP2E1 enzyme and glycine among workers in the car painting area of Surabaya, Indonesia. The primary goal is to evaluate how dietary factors influence xylene metabolism and elimination, potentially reducing occupational health risks associated with xylene exposure. Methods: This is a cross-sectional observational study. The group being studied includes 2 strata of car painting workers and car retainer groups. Sampling was carried out through random sampling with proportional groups of 51 respondents including 36 painters and 15 workers in caulking areas. The research variables included weight, job time, weekly hours, work time per day, and xylene concentration. Once all variables had been gathered, each respondent's breathing rate and noncarcinogen intake were calculated. Lastly, we figure out the right amounts of foods with CYP2E1 enzymes and glycine. Results: The level of xylene near the Surabaya car painting zone was above the threshold set for Xylen exposure at work. Foods that contain CYP2E1 enzyme are beef, brains. Glycine can be obtained from spinach. Conclusion: The effective dose of food ingredients for xylen detox needed by each worker differs depending on the individual characteristics of each worker, ranging from body weight to length of work. Control with regular air checks to determine the condition of the xylene concentration level at work, providing air ventilation (local exhaust), specifically for partially enclosed workshops, using paint with safer organic solvents, and wearing personal protective equipment like a half-mask respirator with organic vapor cartridges, are steps taken to lower xylene levels. Intense physical exercise can lead to oxidative stress and inflammation, which may impair muscle recovery and athletic performance. Nigella Sativa (N. sativa) possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, however, limited studies have examined its effects on oxidative stress and inflammation biomarkers post-exercise. This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial investigated the impact of N. sativa supplementation on malondialdehyde (MDA) and high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) levels following eccentric exercise. Forty-two recreationally active males (aged 18–21 years) were randomly assigned to either the N. sativa group (500 mg/day, n=21) or the placebo group (starch capsules, n=21) for 28 days. After supplementation, participants performed a standardized eccentric step-down protocol to induce muscle damage, and blood samples were collected at three time points: pre-exercise (T0), immediately post-exercise (T1), and 24 hours post-exercise (T2). MDA and HMGB1 levels significantly increased post-exercise (T1) in both groups (p<0.001); however, the N. sativa group exhibited significantly lower MDA and HMGB1 levels compared to the placebo group at T1 and T2 (p<0.001). These findings suggest that N. sativa supplementation may play a protective role against exercise-induced muscle damage by mitigating oxidative stress and inflammation. Further research is warranted to explore long-term effects and optimal dosages in athletic populations.
This research explores the use of natural-based essential oils to enhance the quality of indoor air (IAQ) in an office environment using an experimental approach. Lemongrass and agarwood essential oils were studied for their potential to contribute to a healthier and sustainable indoor environment due to their antibacterial properties. The essential oil droplets were released using an Ultrasonic Diffuser, and air quality measurements were taken before and after the diffusion of essential oils. The concentration of airborne bioaerosols, VOCs, PM, and other physical parameters were monitored throughout the sampling period. Lemongrass essential oil significantly reduced the total bacterial and fungal count by 74.19% and 76.34% respectively, while agarwood only significantly reduced the total fungal count by 55.20%. This study found that physical parameters such as air velocity and relative humidity have a substantial impact on the efficiency of essential oil diffusion. With a correlation of more than 47%, lemongrass diffusion showed substantial relationships between air velocity and VOC, PM10, and PM2.5. Diffusion of agarwood showed strong correlations of more than 57% between relative humidity and VOC, TSP, PM10, and PM2.5. Temperature, as controlled by air conditioning, did not affect diffusion. The study adds to our understanding of the antibacterial and antifungal activities of lemongrass and agarwood essential oils. Diffusing essential oils, particularly lemongrass, improved IAQ as the total microbial count was able to be reduced without impacting other parameters, demonstrating a practical and efficient improvement. The beneficial effect on IAQ highlights the potential of essential oil diffusion for healthier indoor environments, hence helping the promotion of good IAQ following safety and health regulations.
Background:The leaf ethanolic extract of Etlingera hemisphaerica (LE3H) changes the levels of eight protein bands in the blood serum impacted by mercury chloride (HgCl₂), making them closer to the normal state in Rattus norvegicus. Aim:This study aimed to understand the effect of LE3H on restoring the intensity of serum proteins in R. norvegicus previously induced by HgCl2. Methods:Male R. norvegicus (rats) were categorized into four groups (K0, K1, K2, and K3), each with four rats. K1, K2, and K3 were administered an intraperitoneal injection of 5 mg/kg body weight (BW) HgCl2. After 24 hours, K1 was gavaged daily with double-distilled (DD) water for 7 days, K2 was gavaged daily for 7 days at a rate of 0.27 mg/g BW LE3H, and K3 was gavaged daily for 7 days at a dose of 0.55 mg/g BW LE3H. Similarly, DD water was given to K0 as a control. On the ninth day, we used cervical dislocation to euthanize the animals and collected their blood from the heart to produce serum. Serum protein levels were quantified using the Lowry method, followed by protein isolation via two-dimensional sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The 2D electropherograms were computerized comparisons, molecular weight and pI measurements, protein digestion and peptide extraction, nano-liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, data processing, and protein identification. Results:The 2D electropherograms successfully separated 72 spot proteins. The presence of 16 (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, and P) protein spots significantly increased or decreased influenced by HgCl2 treatment, and then LE3H administration restored the presence of these proteins to close to control conditions. Four selected protein spots with National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) D[gi|37805241], F[gi|295916], H[gi|155369696; gi|60551611], and K [gi|149056721] were significantly increased influenced by HgCl2, and then LE3H restored these proteins to close to control conditions. Four selected protein spots with NCBI L[gi|149043886; gi|116597], M[gi|121041], O[gi|231468], and P[gi|546056; gi|6981010] significantly decreased influenced by HgCl2, and then LE3H restored these proteins to close to control conditions. Conclusion:LE3H may serve as a potential herbal agent to mitigate mercury-induced systemic toxicity via serum protein expression modulation.
This longitudinal study examined the association between climate change and food consumption. Sources of data were from Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (rainfall, temperature) and Statistics Indonesia (rice, maize, cassava, sweet potato). Linear regression was employed showing 1 degrees C increase in temperature was associated with an increase in maize consumption (R2 = 0.832; 95%CI = 0.018-0.062; p = .002). No significant associations were found between climate variables and rice, cassava, sweet potato consumption. These results indicate that rising temperatures are statistically associated with shifts toward greater maize consumption. Hence, highlights maize as a climate-resilient non-rice staple that support food security and nutritional adequacy in this ongoing climate change.

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara desain stasiun kerja dan karakteristik karyawan terhadap produktivitas kerja di PT. Len Industri Bandung. Penelitian menggunakan desain observasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional pada seluruh populasi karyawan divisi Information System gedung A, yaitu 32 orang yang dipilih dengan metode total sampling. Variabel independen meliputi desain stasiun kerja (meja, kursi, monitor, keyboard, mouse) serta karakteristik individu (usia, jenis kelamin, durasi penggunaan komputer, riwayat penyakit tulang, postur kerja, konsumsi air minum), sedangkan variabel dependen adalah produktivitas kerja. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan observasi, dengan penilaian postur menggunakan metode Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) dan desain stasiun kerja berdasarkan lembar observasi OSHA 2018. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji Chi-Square dan korelasi Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa desain stasiun kerja memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan produktivitas kerja (p = 0,000). Selain itu, karakteristik individu seperti durasi penggunaan komputer (p = 0,000), riwayat penyakit tulang (p = 0,003), dan postur kerja (p = 0,018) juga berhubungan signifikan, sedangkan usia, jenis kelamin, dan konsumsi air tidak berhubungan bermakna. Disimpulkan bahwa desain stasiun kerja yang ergonomis dan penyesuaian dengan kondisi fisik karyawan berperan penting dalam meningkatkan produktivitas.
Introduction: The hazardous chemical benzene, which is present in glue and can damage bone marrow and lower blood platelet concentration, is frequently exposed to during the shoe-making process. The CYP2E1 enzyme is essential for the metabolism of benzene, which helps the body eliminate it and lessens its harmful effects. The purpose of this study is to examine how supplements containing CYP2E1 enzymes affect the platelet concentration of shoe workers in Tambak Osowilangun Village's home industry sector. Methods: A pre-experimental study was conducted using a one-group pretest-posttest design. There were twenty-seven (27) workers in the sample. Interviews, body mass index (BMI) calculations, and blood platelet concentration tests were used to gather data before and after CYP2E1 enzyme supplementation. SPSS was used for statistical analysis in order to evaluate variations in platelet concentration and determine the factors affecting these variations. Results: Following the five-day supplementation period, the platelet concentration increased by 100%, according to the results. Employees who lived far from the production site, were older males with higher BMIs, non-smoker, had more than 15 years of work experience, and worked more than 8 hours a day benefited the most. Conclusion: In conclusion, giving shoe workers supplements high in the CYP2E1 enzyme had a beneficial impact and raised their platelet counts considerably. The consumption of foods high in CYP2E1 should be encouraged, regular physical activity should be encouraged, and working conditions should be improved. Control groups and longer treatment durations could be added to future studies.
