Abstract—We consider the problem of mesh-pull based video broadcast in peer-to-peer networks. We propose a novel algo- rithm for constructing the distribution overlay, where peers are arranged in neighborhoods that exhibit similar latency values from the origin media server. We analyze the properties of the resulting mesh and show that it increases data sharing between neighbors, hence improves the system performance compared to random,constructions. When two threads access the shared memory without being synchronized, and at least one performs a write operation, they form a data race. Data races are widely considered the symptom of bugs in multithreaded programs, and a huge amount of work has been done in order to detect them. The key issue in order to statically discover data races via abstract interpretation in Java programs is to develop a specific alias analysis that abstracts references, as (i) the shared memory is the heap, and it is accesses by reference (ii) monitors are defined on objects, and so they are identified by reference. This paper presents a combination of may- and must- alias analyses, in order to capture precise information on accesses and synchronization. Moreover, we provide information on missing locks if a possible data race is detected. The analysis has been implemented and tested. Our approach is based on abstract interpretation theory and it analyzes a subset of Java bytecode.
Abstract—This paper addresses the problem of the transmission of scalable video streams to a set of heterogeneous clients through a common bottleneck channel. The packet scheduling policy is typically crucial in such systems that target smooth media playback at all the receivers. In particular, the playback delays and the transmission strategy for the packets of the different layers have to be chosen carefully. When the same video is sent simultaneously to multiple clients that subscribe to different parts of the stream, the playback delay cannot be jointly minimized for all the clients. We therefore propose delay optimization strategies along with low complexity solutions for a fair distribution of the delay penalty
Background: For the last few years the International Workshop on Practice and Theory in Public-Key Cryptography has been the main annual workshop focusing on research on all as- pects of public-key cryptography. The rst workshop was organized in 1998 in Japan. Other PKCs have taken place in Australia, France, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and USA. Since 2003, PKC is an IACR workshop. PKC has attracted papers from world-renowned sci- entists in the area. Topics of Interest: The topics of interest are all aspects of public-key cryptography including theory, design, analysis, implementation, and applications of public-key cryptography.
