With the increasing integration of new loads and generators into the distribution networks, predictive and curative congestion management become an important topic in low and medium voltage grids. Therefore, the grid traffic light concept was presented, where the amber phase describes the framework for a secure grid operation in order to prevent imminent congestions or voltage violations in advance using network flexibility. One approach is limiting the maximum power at a grid connection point with a consistent, non-discriminatory quota. Within the project flexQgrid two methodologies were implemented and tested in a field test. With help of several energy management systems different types of flexible assets such as photovoltaic generator, heat pumps, electric vehicles and battery energy storage systems could be controlled. Focus of this work is the comparison of both methods facing real world challenges and an evaluation of the effectiveness during regular grid operation.
The integration of an increasing number of flexibilities such as PV, heat pumps and e-mobility in the distribution grid leads to short-term load peaks. In order to proactively avoid these congestions, the flexQgrid project is piloting a solution based on a quota concept in a field test. While the quota concept works in principle, some limitations have been identified, which are described in the paper. During the field test, solutions for individual limitations as well as a fundamental solution for the uncertainties in the form of a safety buffer were developed.
Researchers have proposed that emotion regulation can enhance or hinder socioaffective and sociocognitive processes. However, an integration of the evidence is still lacking. The present preregistered meta-analysis disentangled the link between adaptive and maladaptive emotion regulation and different aspects of social affect and cognition. Our findings, based on 549 effect sizes from 58 samples, show that adaptive emotion regulation is positively related to cognitive empathy (ρ = .22), affective empathy (ρ = .07), and compassion (ρ = .19) but negatively related to empathic distress (ρ = –.12). Furthermore, maladaptive emotion regulation is negatively related to cognitive empathy (ρ = –.11) and positively related to empathic distress (ρ = .19). Our findings open up new pathways for practitioners, as it might be possible to foster empathy and compassion and alleviate empathic distress through emotion regulation training. Furthermore, the results suggest a potential explanation for the link between mental disorders and interpersonal problems.
The increase in decentralised generation and the massive expansion of e-mobility are causing short-term load and generation peaks in the distribution grid. To prevent these power peaks from overloading operating equipment, the flexQgrid project is testing automated congestion management. This congestion management is based on forecasts of the future grid status generated by building energy management systems and an external provider.

The increase in renewable power generation as well as flexible consumption units in distribution grids requires new concepts for congestion management. One approach is the grid traffic light concept combined with a quota model to avoid forecasted grid congestion. Quotas represent the share of the active power that is free to use without creating a congestion. A field test in a predecessor project demonstrated that grid congestion can be avoided by this quota-based approach. This paper describes the advantages and disadvantages of the formerly used calculation method, introduces a refined quota calculation method and both methods are compared. The refined method will be implemented and validated in another comprehensive field test in the project ‘flexQgrid’.

Abinary logistic regression analysis was performed in order to extract from the questionnaires, which could best distinguish the diagnosis of ADHD from other mental disorders.ResultsThe results showed that two self-rating scales (WURS-K and ADHS-SB) were sufficient to correctly diagnose ADHD in 83% of the patients examined with asensitivity of 94% and specificity of 56%.ConclusionThe ADHD-specific self-rating scales are additionally useful for the diagnostic differentiation between ADHD-specific and other psychiatric symptoms in the clinical practice and can improve the safety of the diagnosis.
The question of the relative importance of dysfunctional cognitive beliefs and metacognitions in the development and maintenance of obsessive-compulsive (OC) symptoms is still a matter of debate. This study aims to investigate the relevance of OC-specific metacognitions, such as thought fusion beliefs, beliefs about rituals and stop signals for OC symptoms. Patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) (n=71), anxiety disorders (n=51), and depressive disorders (n=81), and a nonclinical sample (n=300), were assessed for (meta)cognitive beliefs and OC symptoms. Analyses of variances indicated that the OCD group reported significantly more positive beliefs about rituals and stop signals than did the other three groups, also when controlling for comorbidity of depression disorder. No differences were found with regard to thought fusion beliefs. In regression analyses in the OCD sample, OC-specific metacognitions such as thought fusion beliefs explained incremental variance in OC symptoms, when controlling for cognitive beliefs and general, non OC-specific metacognitions. Overall, these findings provide further evidence for the relevance of specific metacognitions to OCD. Metacognitive therapy might address these metacognitive beliefs and thereby lead to a reduction of OC symptoms in OCD patients.
Background and objectives: Obsessive-compulsive (OC) checkers have been shown to be impaired in memory. However, when encoding OC-related material, OC checkers exhibit superior recall. This study aims to investigate emotion-related memory performance in relation to checking using newly developed OC-specific material. Additionally, metacognitive characteristics such as cognitive confidence were considered.Method: In a sample of 63 participants (including 26 participants with obsessive-compulsive disorder), immediate and delayed recall for neutral stories and for OC-specific stories containing checking- and washing-related content were assessed. Regression analyses were applied to investigate the relationship to checking symptoms. The influence of metacognitive characteristics on recall was also examined.Results: Higher checking was related to significantly better memory performance for a checking-related story as compared to two neutral stories. However, higher checking was also related to higher rates of forgetting of the OC-specific material over the delay period. Rates of forgetting in relation to checking were mediated by cognitive confidence. Diagnostic status was not predictive of any outcome variables.Limitations: The use of typical and not idiosyncratic verbal material may limit the ecological validity of these findings.Conclusions: In relation to high checking, different disorder-related cognitive and affective processes seem to interfere with memory encoding and retrieval at different stages. Metacognitive therapy methods might address these processes and thereby lead to a reduction of both cognitive impairment and OC symptoms. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Der Leser erhält Einblick in Diagnostik und standardisierte Instrumente für die klinische Praxis und lernt evidenzbasierte Trainingspro-gramme (z. B. Cogpack, IPT, MKT) und die pharmakologische Behandlung kognitiver Störungen kennen. Es ist bekannt, dass viele Trainingsprogramme Funktionen verbessern, der Transfer in den Alltag aber nur selten gelingt. Inwiefern dieser durch ambulante Psycho- und Ergotherapie gefördert werden kann, beschreiben die Autoren leider nicht. Sie verweisen hier nur auf die Basisliteratur zum Thema Rehabilitation und auf allgemeine Behandlungsansätze. Aber ich frage mich, was Trainingsprogramme wie Cogpack mit exemplarischen Studien aus dem Jahr 2003 in einem Buch der Reihe „Fortschritte der Neuropsychologie“ zu suchen haben. Zwei Infokarten bieten sowohl ein Schema zum Ablauf der Diagnostik und Therapie als auch einen Überblick über betroffene Funktionsbereiche und relevante Testverfahren.
The Djungarian hamster is an animal that is prominent for distinct seasonal adaptations. Cued by shortening day length in autumn they spontaneously exhibit reductions in food intake, body mass (BM), fat mass and also in lean mass (LM). The mechanisms behind the seasonal regulation of body composition are only partly resolved. Although most studies focused on the participation of body fat in seasonal body weight regulation, we addressed the influence of LM, moreover of muscle mass (MM) on seasonal BM changes. Therefore, we analyzed body composition, MM and the expression of myostatin, a hormone negatively regulating muscle growth and differentiation, in Djungarian hamsters in response to naturally changing photoperiod in winter compared to long photoperiod (LP). Winter-acclimated hamsters upregulated myostatin mRNA when compared with hamsters adapted to natural and artificial LP, whereas MM remained unchanged when compared with natural LP. Moreover, in natural short photoperiod, individual myostatin expression levels were negatively correlated with MM. These results suggest that myostatin is under seasonal control in order to regulate MM and hence contributes to the overall LM and therefore BM changes in seasonal mammals.
Hibernators display severe changes in brain structure during deep torpor, including alterations in synaptic constitution. To address a possible effect on long-term memory, we examined learning behavior and memory of the hibernator Marmota marmota. In two operant conditioning tasks, the marmots learned to jump on two boxes or to walk through a tube. The animals were trained during their active season. Performance improved during the training phase and remained stable in a last test, four weeks before entrance into hibernation. When retested after six months of hibernation, skills were found to be unimpaired (box: before hibernation: 258.2+/-17.7 s, after hibernation: 275.0+/-19.8 s; tube: before hibernation: 158.4+/-9.0 s, after hibernation: 137.7+/-6.3 s). Contrary to these findings, memory seemed to be less fixed during the active season, since changes in test procedure resulted in impaired test performance. Besides the operant conditioning, we investigated the animals' habituation to a novel environment by repeated open field exposure. In the first run, animals showed exploratory behavior and thus a high locomotor activity was observed (63.6+/-10.7 crossed squares). Upon a second exposure, all animals immediately moved into one corner and locomotion ceased (7.2+/-1.9 crossed squares). This habituation was not altered even after hibernation (6.1+/-1.1 crossed squares). We thus conclude that long-term memory is unaffected by hibernation in Alpine marmots.
