Tawes fish (Barbonymus gonionotus) is an indigenous Indonesian freshwater species experiencing increasing popularity and demand, particularly among communities in the Southwest Aceh region. Despite widespread cultivation efforts by local fish farmers to meet market needs, production remains constrained, limiting the achievement of optimal aquaculture outcomes. One approach to addressing this limitation involves the incorporation of Moringa oleifera leaf extract into feed to improve overall protein quality, thereby offering a potential strategy to enhance growth performance. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Moringa oleifera leaf extract supplementation in feed on the growth performance and survival of tawes fish (Barbonymus gonionotus). A completely randomized design was employed with four treatments and three replicates per treatment. The treatments consisted of a control diet (P0) and feed supplemented with Moringa oleifera leaf extract at concentrations of 50 ml/kg feed (P1), 100 ml/kg feed (P2), and 150 ml/kg feed (P3). fish measuring 2–3 cm in length were stocked at a density of 1 fish/L. Fish were fed three times daily at 5% of their body weight over a 40 day experimental period. The results demonstrated that Moringa oleifera leaf extract supplementation in feed had a significant (P < 0.05) positive effect on both survival and growth performance of Barbonymus gonionotus. The diet supplemented with Moringa oleifera leaf extract at 100 ml/kg feed (P2) was identified as the most effective treatment, yielding optimal growth performance and survival.
Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat Desa Ranto Panyang Timur, Aceh Barat, dalam menentukan standar mutu hasil perikanan berbasis uji organoleptik. Permasalahan utama mitra adalah rendahnya literasi mutu ikan segar, sehingga masyarakat sering mengalami kerugian finansial dan risiko kesehatan akibat mengonsumsi ikan yang telah mengalami pembusukan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi tiga tahap: (1) penyuluhan tentang karakteristik kesegaran ikan dan mekanisme pembusukan; (2) workshop pelatihan teknis uji organoleptik menggunakan parameter mata, insang, lendir, tekstur, dan bau berdasarkan SNI 2729:2013 serta pendekatan Quality Index Method (QIM); dan (3) evaluasi efektivitas melalui pre-test, post-test, serta praktik langsung penilaian dua sampel ikan (A dan B). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta secara signifikan. Peserta mampu membedakan ikan segar (total skor 18, kategori "sangat segar") dan ikan tidak segar (total skor 12, kategori "cukup") dengan tingkat akurasi tinggi. Sebanyak 85% peserta berhasil memberikan skor yang tepat (deviasi ≤1 poin) pada minimal 4 dari 6 parameter. Kegiatan ini berhasil mentransformasikan paradigma masyarakat dari konsumen pasif menjadi konsumen cerdas yang mampu melakukan kontrol kualitas mandiri.
The availability of white snapper seeds is still as a problem which is there are still limited in some places and only seals in certain areas in Indonesia. So proper seed handling techniques are needed to increase their survival. This research aims to obtain the optimal fasting duration for white snapper seeds before transportation. Transportation was conducted in closed system, transported using a car, for 7 hours. This research was conducted at Ujung Batee Brackish Water Aquaculture Fisheries Center (BPBAP). The research used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replications, namely: transportation of white snapper seeds with fasting period of 12 hours (A), 24 hours (B), 36 hours (C) and 48 hours (D). The data obtained was tested for statistical analysis of variance (ANOVA) using SPSS 25.0. The results showed that different fasting duration had no significant effect (P0.05) on the survival rate either after transportation or five days post-transportation.Keywords: fasting; seed; survival rate; transportation
Rasbora maninjau is a native fish of Aceh that is commonly found in the rivers of Nagan Raya Regency, West Aceh, Aceh. Although this fish has been domesticated to save it, cultural efforts are severely hampered by its slow growth. Lysine and probiotics are introduced to local feed to maintain the proper balance of amino acids in the feed and improve the quality of the protein feed produced. This makes it possible for the feed to act in a different way to promote the growth of the fish. The purpose of this study is to examine how Rasbora maninjau growth, feed efficiency, and survival are affected by the addition of lysine and probiotics to local feed. A randomized design with three replications and five treatments was used in this study. The formulation uses local feed as a reference (P0), local feed with lysine added at a rate of 1.2% and probiotics at a concentration of 15 ml/kg (P1), 1.4% and probiotics at a concentration of 15 ml/kg (P2), 1.6% and probiotics at a concentration of 15 ml/kg (P3), and 1.8% and probiotics at a concentration of 15 ml/kg (P4). Three times a day, 3% of body weight is fed. The study was raised for 40 days. The findings indicated that adding lysine and probiotics to a locally manufactured meal had a substantial (P < 0.05) effect on Rasbora maninjau's growth performance but had no significant effect on survival (P > 0.05). The best dosages for Rasbora maninjau growth performance in the locally manufactured feed are 1.6% lysine supplementation and 15 ml/kg probiotics (P3).
Pakan merupakan komponen yang menunjang pertumbuhan dan sintasan dalam budidaya ikan. Salah satu bahan baku alternatif yang dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pakan ikan yaitu daun tarum (Indigofera zollingeriana). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan daun tarum (Indigofera zollingeriana) terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan pada ikan seurukan. Penelitian ini terdiri dari lima perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan penggunaan tepung daun tarum terdiri dari P0 (tanpa penambahan tepung daun tarum/kontrol), P1 (penambahan tepung daun tarum 5%), P2 (penambahan tepung daun tarum 10%), P3 (penambahan tepung daun tarum 15%), P4 (penambahan tepung daun tarum 20%). Hasil analisis sidik ragam (ANOVA) menunjukkan bahwa pemberian dosis tepung daun tarum pada pakan komersial berpengaruh nyata (P<0.05) terhadap performa pertumbuhan ikan serukan. Dosis terbaik untuk meningkatkan performa pertumbuhan ikan seurukan adalah perlakuan 4 dengan dosis 20%. Nilai P4 yang terdiri dari nilai sintasan 98.33%, pertambahan bobot ikan sebesar 3.98 gram, pertambahan panjang sebesar 3,36 cm, laju pertumbuhan spesifik 3.81%/hari, dan rasio konversi pakan sebesar 1.06. Bileh fish is a type of freshwater fish that is sought after by the people of Aceh because it has a delicious taste and is quite tasty. Bileh fish is a local fish species that has the potential to be developed as an aquaculture commodity and its population must be preserved from overfishing. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of different feeding frequencies on the growth of bileh fish fry (Rasbora sp.). This research used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) method consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications each, namely the frequency of feeding 1 time/day (P1), feeding 2 times/day (P2), feeding 3 times/day day (P3) and feeding 4 times/day (P4). The feed given is commercial feed PF 500 with 39% protein. The parameters observed included survival rate, length growth, weight growth, daily growth rate, feed efficiency and water quality. The results showed that different feeding frequencies had no significant effect on survival rate, absolute length and daily growth rate of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.). However, it has a real effect on weight growth and feed efficiency. The best feeding frequency to optimize the weight growth of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.) is in the P3 treatment with a frequency of 3 times/day.Keywords: Feed Efficiency; Feeding Frequency; Growth; Rasbora
Kecamatan Meureubo memiliki potensi perikanan budidaya air tawar yang potensial untuk dikembangkan. UD. Sonia Ratu merupakan usaha budidaya ikan yang berfokus pada kegiatan pembesaran benih ikan lele. Usaha budidaya ikan ini masih mengandalkan sistem budidaya secara konvensional sehingga produktivitas budidaya belum maksimal. Peningkatkan produktivitas budidaya ikan dapat dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan teknologi akuaponik sistem rakit apung. Teknologi akuaponik sistem rakit apung yaitu kegiatan budidaya yang menggabungkan antara budidaya ikan dengan tanaman. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah memperkenalkan teknologi akuaponik rakit apung bagi pembudidaya ikan lele di Kecamatan Meureubo sehingga dapat meningkatkan produktivitas usaha budidaya ikan lele UD. Sonia Ratu. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan edukasi dan bimbingan teknis secara langsung tentang teknik pembuatan akuaponik sistem rakit apung. Materi yang disampaikan pada kegiatan edukasi meliputi manfaat, cara pembuatan, konsep penggunaan hingga praktek langsung pembuatan dan pengaplikasian langsung akuaponik. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah pembudidaya ikan UD. Sonia Ratu mendapatkan pemahaman mengenai metode budidaya dengan teknologi akuaponik sistem rakit apung. Peningkatan pemahaman pembudidaya ikan sebesar 35% berdasarkan hasil test yang telah dilakukan. Pembudidaya ikan mendapatkan keterampilan cara pembuatan akuaponik dan mengaplikasikan langsung rangkaian akuaponik ke dalam kolam pemeliharaan ikan. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pemahaman dan keterampilan usaha budidaya ikan UD Sonia Ratu terhadap metode budidaya dengan menggunakan akuaponik sistem rakit apung.
AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of lysine and probiotic supplementation in artificial feed based on local raw materials on feed quality and feed conversion ratio of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.). This research was carried out from August to September 2023 at the Hatchery and Laboratory of Systems and Technology and the Aquaculture Environment, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Teuku Umar University. In this study, bileh fish measuring 2 - 2.5 cm long were used as test fish. The experimental design used was a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The level of treatment applied in feed formulation is feed based on local raw materials as a control (P0), feed based on local raw materials with 1.2% lysine supplementation (P1), 1.4% (P2), 1.6% (P3), 1.8 % (P4) and probiotics 15 ml/kg feed. Feed is given at satiation 3 times a day. The test parameters observed were the quality of the feed produced, daily growth rate and feed conversion ratio of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.). The research results showed that lysine and probiotic supplementation in artificial feed based on local raw materials gave the same response to the quality of the feed produced, but had a significant effect on the daily growth rate and feed conversion ratio of bileh fish. One of the local fish (native species) that is popular with the public and has quite good market prospects in Aceh is the seurukan fish (Osteochilus sp.). Seurukan fish cultivation technology with a recirculation system needs to be developed so that its potential can be utilized optimally. This research aims to evaluate production performance and determine the optimal stocking density for rearing seurukan fish (Osteochilus sp.) in a recirculation system. This research was conducted by experimental method. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments of stocking density and each treatment was repeated four times. The treatments are P1 (5 fish/m2), P2 (10 fish/m2), and P3 (15 fish/m2). The rearing period for Seurukan fish lasts for 50 days. The parameters tested during the research included biological parameters consisting of survival, absolute growth rate, feed conversion ratio, weight diversity coefficient, and water quality parameters including temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen. The results showed that the seurukan fish reared at different stocking densities using a recirculation system had a significant effect on the absolute growth rate and the coefficient of variation in weight. The best treatment in this study was 5 fish/m2, with a survival rate of 100%, an absolute growth rate of 0.04 g/head/day, a feed conversion ratio of 1.63, and a coefficient of variation of weight of 17.99%.Key words: production performance; seurukan fish; recirculation system; stocking density
This study aims to test the effectiveness of amino acid lysine in artificial feed in increasing feed efficiency of bileh fish fry (Rasbora sp.). The experimental design used was a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatments included: feed without lysine (P0), feed with lysine 1.2%/kg (P1), 1.4%/kg (P2), 1.6%/kg (P3), and 1.8%/kg (P4). The fish fry used amounted to 10 fish per container with a size of 2 cm and a weight of 0.10 grams, reared for 40 days. The results of data analysis using ANOVA showed that the provision of amino acid lysine had a significant effect on specific growth rate, but no significant effect on survival, feed conversion ratio and feed efficiency.
This study aims to determine the effect of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) powder application on artificial feed on feed quality and feed conversion ratio for bileh fish (Rasbora sp.) fry. This research was carried out from September to October 2022 at UPR Mina Mandiri Gampong Lhok Seumot, Beutong District, Nagan Raya Regency. This study used bile fish seeds measuring 2 - 2.25 cm in length as test fish. The experimental design used was a non-factorial, Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The level of treatment applied in the feed formulation was control feed without fermented water hyacinth flour substitution (P0), 5% fermented hyacinth flour substitution in feed (P1), 10% fermented water hyacinth flour substitution in feed (P2), water hyacinth flour substitution fermented 15% in feed (P3). Feed is given at satiation three times a day. The test parameters observed were the quality of the feed produced and the feed conversion ratio of the seeds of bileh fish (Rasbora sp.). The results showed that applying water hyacinth flour (Eichhornia crassipes) on artificial feed gave the same response to the quality of the feed produced but had a significant effect on the feed conversion ratio for bileh fish. The objective of the present study was to determine the optimal dose substitution of water hyacinth flour ( Eichhornia crassipes ) in feed on the growth performance of Bileh ( Rasbora sp.) fingerlings. The Completely Randomized Design (CRD) used in this study consisted of four treatments and three replications. Four doses of Eichhornia crassipes were tested: P0 = Feed without substitution of fermented water hyacinth flour as control, P1 = The substitution of fermented water hyacinth flour 5% in feed, P2 = The substitution of fermented water hyacinth flour 10 % in feed, P3 = The substitution of fermented water hyacinth flour 15% in feed. Bileh used as test fish have a length range of 2-2,5 cm. Feed was given three times with at satiation method. Bileh is stored for 30 days. The results showed that the absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, specific growth rate, and feed efficiency were higher in substituting 15% water hyacinth flour in Feed (P3). However, the substitution of water hyacinth flour in Feed had no significant effect on the survival rate and daily growth rate of bileh (P>0.05). The best dose of substitution of water hyacinth flour to increase the growth of Bileh fish and is more economical is 15% in Feed.
Serukan fish (Osteochilus sp) has potential as a cultivation commodity with economic value. Environmental engineering, such as the manipulation of salinity media, has succeeded in increasing the growth of freshwater fish. However, there is no information about the optimal salinity setting for raising serukan fish. This study aims to determine the optimal media salinity based on the growth performance of the serukan juvenile. This study used a completely randomized design (RAL) with four treatments and three replications. The maintenance media in this study included control, P1 (3 ppt), P2 (6 ppt) and P3 (9 ppt). The study was conducted for 45 days with commercial feed. The test parameters included feed chemical analysis, blood glucose, SGR, FI, FE and SR. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and Duncan's further test. The optimal concentration of media salinity is determined by an orthogonal polynomial test. The results showed that the salinity-rearing media had a significant effect on the specific growth rate (SGR) and the efficiency of feed usage. The optimal concentration of salinity was found at 3.8 ppt, indicating that the fish call tends to achieve optimal growth at this salinity. The physiological response (stress) of fish, as measured by blood glucose levels, is also directly proportional to the level of salinity and growth performance.Keywords: Blood glucose; Growth performance; Media manipulation; Osteochilus sp; Stress response.
Konservasi Aroen Meubanja telah melakukan perlindungan terhadap habitat penyu dengan cara menyelamatkan telur penyu dari berbagai ancaman predator dengan memindahkan ke zona konservasi yang dapat dipantau dan diawasi secara langsung. Setelah telur-telur penyu tersebut berhasil diselamatkan, kemudian telur dipindahkan untuk ditetaskan, setelah menetas tukik penyu dipelihara di bak penampungan sementara selanjutnya tukik dilepas kehabitat aslinya. Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan kepada mahasiswa untuk mengenal kehidupan, tingkah laku, kebiasaan dan karakteristik habitat penyu. Kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat untuk menambah wawasan dan kesadaran mahasiswa dalam upaya melestarikan penyu. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilaksanakan di Desa Aroen Meubanja, Kecamatan Panga, Kecamatan Aceh Jaya. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan, Universitas Teuku Umar. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang digunakan adalah metode sosialisasi edukasi pembesaran tukik melalui penyampaian materi dan diskusi dalam upaya pelestarian penyu yang baik dan benar. Materi yang diberikan berupa teknik pembesaran tukik mulai dari penetasan telur dan pemeliharaan tukik hingga pelepasan tukik ke laut. Edukasi metode pembesaran tukik melalui konservasi habitat penyu, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan mahasiswa, mendapatkan informasi dan pemahaman mengenai aspek pola hidup, tingkah laku, karakteristik habitat dan kebiasaan makan penyu, agar dapat berjalan optimal sehingga meminimalkan kematian penyu serta mengetahui upaya konservasi penyu yang baik dan benar.
AbstractSnakehead fish (Channa sp.) is one of Indonesia's native freshwater commodities that has been successfully domesticated by fish farmers, yet the domesticated snakehead fish culture still has problems, namely the low survival and growth of local snakehead fish. Overcoming this problem requires a technology that can optimize the survival and growth of the domesticated snakehead fish (Channa sp.). One technology that can be applied is the use of probiotics. This reserach aimed to examine different probiotics through feed to optimize the survival and growth of domesticated snakehead fish (Channa sp.). This research was conducted with an experimental method. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were control treatment (P0), treatment with probiotic composition of Lactobacillus sp., Bacillus spp. and Nitrosomonas sp. (P1), treatment with probiotic composition of Lactobacillus casei and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (P2), and treatment with probiotic composition of Lactobacillus sp., Acetobacter, Rhodobacter sp., yeast (P3). The results showed that different probiotic feeding had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the survival parameters and different probiotic feeding compositions had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the growth parameters. The composition of Lactobacillus casei and Saccharomyces cerevisiae probiotics is the best probiotic composition to increase survival and growth of domesticated snakehead fish.Keywords: Domestication, Growth, Survival Rate, Probiotic
The purpose of this community service was to educate the application of probiotics and immunostimulants in aquaculture. This activity was carried out in Cot Darat village, SamatigaDistrict, West Aceh Regency. This activity is divided into three steps, namely: (1) Introduction and socialization of probiotics and immunostimulant; (2) practice to produce probiotics and the application techniques; and (3) the monitoring of fish health and growth during cultivation. The type of bacteria used in this probiotic is Lactobacillus bacteria and the immunostimulant ingredients are turmeric and curcumin. Lactobacillus, turmeric and curcuma are known can improve fish health in aquaculture. The results of this activity indicate that group members have understood the definition of probiotics and immunostimulants, their benefits and how to make and apply them in aquaculture. In addition, fish health and growth are increase during fish culture compare before the probiotics was applied. The differences that occurred during probiotics application in fish cultivation were seen that the fish became healthier, the growth was better, and fish mortality decreased.
Sampah plastik adalah salah satu jenis sampah yang tidak mudah terurai dan tidak ramah lingkungan. Sampah plastik masih menjadi masalah utama bagi masyarakat yang belum terselesaikan karena masih rendahnya tingkat daur ulang dan kurangnya penanganan yang tepat di lingkungan masyarakat maupun sekolah. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah sebagai upaya menanggulangi sampah plastik di lingkungan Sekolah Dasar (SD) Negeri 6 Meulaboh Aceh Barat dengan memberikan edukasi tentang praktik ecobrik dan memunculkan vibes positif kepada siswa untuk mengelola sampah plastik menjadi sesuatu yang bermanfaat. Kegiatan edukasi ini dilaksanakan dengan dua tahapan yaitu persiapan (penjaringan informasi lokasi pelaksanaan kegiatan dan berkoordinasi dengan mitra) dan tahap pelaksanaan (sosialisasi dan praktik ecobrik). Pelatihan bagi mitra dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi interaktif dan praktik langsung membuat ecobrik bersama siswa SD Negeri 6 Meulaboh Aceh Barat. Output kegiatan ini yaitu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa sekolah dasar melalui praktik ecobrik untuk mengelola sampah plastik di sekitar lingkungannya menjadi sesuatu yang bermanfaat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kesimpulan kegiatan ini adalah edukasi ecobrik mampu meminimalisir dampak sampah plastik melalui pengelolaan kreatif, edukatif dan berkelanjutan, serta menumbuhkan kesadaran menjaga lingkungan dengan memunculkan vibes positif sejak dini kepada siswa. Edukasi dan pelatihan pembuatan ecobrik di SDN 6 Meulaboh ini mampu mengurangi sampah plastik dilingkungan sebanyak 11,37 kg.
Mitigation of climate change is a business activity to reduce the risk of increasing greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, gases can occur naturally in the environment and can also arise due to human activities. Mangroves are carbon-rich ecosystems and have an important role in climate regulation, namely by their ability to store large amounts of carbon as an effort to offset anthropogenic CO2 emissions. Mangrove ecosystems are able to store high carbon which is useful in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, mangrove ecosystems are also able to store carbon three to four times greater than ordinary tropical forests. The activity was carried out in Lhok Bubon Village, Samatiga District, West Aceh District. This activity was attended by the academic community of FPIK UTU with 50 participants. The method of implementing community service activities used was counseling and demonstration methods with students through planting 100 mangrove stems, namely Rhizopora sp. Protecting the mangrove ecosystem is our common awareness, especially students as the next generation of the nation, one of which is by not cutting down mangrove trees to be used as firewood or charcoal, opening up ponds and destroying the original habitat of mangrove ecosystems that can disrupt coastal aquatic biota. Students are given education (counseling) about the importance of conserving mangrove ecosystems from the threat of climate change mitigation. Students are very enthusiastic and active, it can be seen from the seriousness in participating in mangrove planting activities through discussions, questions and answers, and hands-on practice. Sustainability of a program like this is needed and efforts are made to become a routine program of gampong activities, NGO activities and also academic activities, because with sustainability it will be faster to see the results that have been expected together.
