The decrease of activity of leucine aminopeptidase in gastric mucosa and liver cells after truncular vagotomy in rats may be due to disturbances in protein metabolism. The increasing activity of alkaline- and acid phosphatase signals catabolic metabolism. After three weeks all phosphatase reactions return to normal.

Eine optimale Verwertung der Calorienträger (hochprozentige Glucose- oder Kohlenhydratmischlösungen) auf der einen und der Stickstoffträger (kristalline L-Aminosäurengemische) auf der anderen Seite erfordert eine sorgfältig aufeinander abgestimmte, gleichzeitige Zufuhr dieser Komponenten.
There are about 15-30 patients reported in the literature, who suffered from well established, isolated Crohn's disease of the stomach. Another case is reported here, who had gastrectomy, since a diagnosis of gastric carcinoma had been made before and during surgery. When histological findings are negative, very extensive diagnostic procedures have to be performed in order to exclude this entity and to avoid useless gastric surgery. A clearcut recommendation as to surgery in cases of stenosis of the pyloric region cannot be given; the experience from the case described however would tend to favour treatment by gastrectomy.
Die Diskussion um die sicherste Anastomosentechnik in der Abdominalchirurgie ist auch heute noch nicht abgeschlossen [2, 3, 5, 7, 12, 13, 16]. Die Anastomoseninsuffizienz, besonders in der Rektumchirurgie, erfordert häufig ein für den Patienten belastendes therapeutisches Vorgehen. Trotzdem ist eine Resektionsbehandlung des Rektumkarzinoms anzustreben, die möglichst einzeitig ohne Schutz der Anastomose durch eine Kolostomie oder einen Anus praeter transversalis durchzuführen ist.
Bei 60 Lewis-Ratten wird der intraperitoneale Keimabbau mit Hilfe des Uriculttestes untersucht. Während die Bauchhöhle 24 h nach Keiminjektion bei Ringer-Lösung nahezu steril ist, wird der Keimabbau in Abhängigkeit der Gallekonzentration verlangsamt oder aufgehoben. Diese Wirkung beruht teils auf der bekannten Phagocytosehemmung durch Gallensäuren, teils durch Bilirubinwirkung, deren Einfluß verzögert nach 6 h einsetzt und wahrscheinlich auf einer Unterdrückung der Chemotaxis für Granulocyten beruht.
Contrary observations exist in the publications concerning the bile peritonitis. Therefore the effect of sterile bile in the peritoneal cavity was investigated in the white mouse. We had the following results: 1. The L.D. 50 will be obtained only by high bile concentrations. 2. The chemical bile effect is minimal on the visceral and parietal peritoneum in the early and late phase. 3. The bile peritonitis does not get infected in case of the intact gastrointestinal and biliary tract. There does not exist a so-called passing through peritonitis even with big bile quantities. 4. A reduction of the peritoneal adhesions arises by bile influence and by weak adhesion stimuli.
An altered suture technique for rectum anastomosis is elucidated. This single row of wide reaching sutures allows for a principally one-stage anterior rectum resection on the basis of intact microcirculation in the anastomosis region. The operative tactical procedure is explained in detail.
