Purpose: determination of the main components of power capabilities that ensure the success of the competitive exercise of armwrestlers weighing 80-100 kg. Material and Methods. The study involved 4 best armwrestlers in the world weighing from 80 to 100 kg (m = 87.50 ± 2.47 kg) in 2017–2020: athlete 1 is a multiple world champion weighing 90 kg (Ukraine), athlete 2 is a multiple champion world champion weighing 82 kg (Ukraine), athlete 3 - multiple world champion weighing 93 kg (Ukraine), athlete 4 - multiple winner of international competitions weighing 85 kg (USA). During the study, strength indicators were determined in 4 competitive exercises. Strength indices in all test exercises were measured in a static mode by an FB5k series electrical tenzodynamometer (Poland) with an accuracy class of up to 100 g, which was mounted on a special armwrestling table using a specially made block device. The created design was called the “ARM1 Device” (patent 43082). During the statistical analysis, the following parameters were calculated: maximum and relative strength, total strength index in four strength exercises (F), time to reach maximum strength (t), speed-strength index (F/t), average strength index of four exercises (F/4), gradient of the total strength of four exercises (t0,5F), strength index in the first 100 ms and 500 ms, speed-strength index in the first 500 ms (F500/t500), hour of reaching a force of 1 kg (t0,5F/(0,5×F); Pearson correlation analysis. Results. As a result of the study, the main data on the speed-strength indicators of armwrestlers were obtained and analyzed. In the process of testing, according to the indicators of time periods and given efforts of dynamic strength, the features of the manifestation of the explosive, fast and slow strength of arm wrestlers 80-100 kg were established. Conclusions. The study made it possible to establish indicators of the speed-strength index, strength gradient, the ability to manifest dynamic strength in the first 500 ms, clearly characterizing the speed-strength capabilities of armwrestlers and allowing to determine the features and nature of the manifestation of their dynamic strength. This makes it possible to determine the natural ability to manifest dynamic strength, as well as to select and predict the performance of promising athletes, to specify the direction and content of the training process, and to clarify the program of participation in competitions.
Background and Study Aim. Considering that there are no studies aimed at identifying the components of physical and functional fitness in arm wrestling at the stage of preliminary basic training, and it is not advisable to transfer training of adult athletes to training of young men, then determining the influence and comparison of various aspects of fitness on the effectiveness of competitive activity of arm wrestlers acquires both theoretical and practical importance. Hence the purpose of the study – to determine the significance of the influence of various aspects of fitness (functional, physical) to identify factors influencing the effectiveness of competitive activity of junior armwrestlers aged 14-15. Material and Methods. The study involved 29 young men aged 14–15 years involved in arm wrestling, they were divided into two groups: 9 athletes (14.67 ± 0.17 years) who were distinguished by high competitive performance and 20 athletes (14.45 ± 0.11 years) of the general group. Morphofunctional data, indicators of general physical, special strength and speed-strength preparedness were determined using test exercises. Statistical analysis of the obtained data was performed using licensed programs Microsoft Excel and STATISTICA 10. In the course of statistical analysis, the following parameters were determined and calculated: maximum (F) and relative (F1 = ƩF / m) strength, kg; total strength index in four strength exercises (ƩF = F1 + F2 + F3 + F4), kg; average strength, index of four exercises ( F = ƩF / 4), kg; time to reach maximum strength (Ʃt = t1 + t2 + t3 + t4), s; speed-strength index (J = ƩF / Ʃt), kg*ms-1; total strength gradient of four exercises (Ʃt0,5F), ms; speed-strength index in the first 500 ms (J500 = ƩF500 / Ʃt500), kg*ms-1; time to reach 1 kg force (t1 = Ʃt0.5F / (0.5×F), ms*kg-1; factor analysis. Results. According to anthropometric parameters, the leaders have significantly better results in weight and height (p < 0.01), and the body mass index was higher in the general group, but the difference was not significant (p > 0.05). Functional parameters differed significantly only in the Stange and Genchi tests (p < 0.01), as well as in the strength index of both arms (p < 0.05). Analysis of the general physical fitness of the leaders and the general group parameters revealed significant differences in 5 of the 6 exercises tested. The significantly high result of the arm wrestlers is supported by high parameters of special physical fitness, namely: strength parameters in two test exercises (hook and wrist bending), as well as the overall total strength parameter of the left and right arms (p<0.05). The speed-strength indicators of both hands also differed significantly in the average strength indicator, strength gradient, strength at 500 ms, speed-strength index at 500 ms, relative strength, and time to achieve a force of 1 kg (Student's t-test ranged from 2.06 to 5.84 at p < 0.05–0.001). Factor analysis confirmed the high influence of anthropometric data and speed-strength fitness indicators on the effectiveness of arm wrestlers’ competitive activities at the studied stage of preparation. Conclusions. In order to create the foundations for high results and sports improvement at the stage of preliminary basic training, it is necessary to provide for a predominantly significant development of strength and speed-strength capabilities, since the results obtained indicate that the growth of athletes' performance with the appropriate system of sports training is accompanied by a significant increase in maximum strength, an improvement in the indicators of starting, acceleration and fast strength in the first 500 ms of muscle tension, due to an improvement in the index and gradient of strength, the time to achieve a strength of 1 kg.
The initial training stage is the most important, since it is here that the foundation for further mastery of sports skills in the chosen sport is laid, therefore, great attention is required to determine the components of the training process in arm wrestling. This study is devoted to the study of morphofunctional data, general physical and special physical fitness of young men aged 10-13 years engaged in arm wrestling, identifying factors influencing high competitive performance for further adjustment of the educational and training process at the initial training stage. The results of the study established that the leading factors are morphofunctional indicators and indicators of speed-strength preparedness. The data of the factor analysis allowed us to determine that the increase in individual indicators of special preparedness of young arm wrestlers without comprehensive training does not ensure high efficiency of competitive activity, and to create a basis for high results and sports improvement at the stage of initial training, it is necessary to provide for mainly significant development of strength and speed-strength capabilities, since the obtained results indicate that an increase in the body weight of athletes with an appropriate system of sports training is accompanied by a significant increase in maximum strength, improvement in starting, acceleration and fast strength.
Purpose: approbation of a complex of speed-strength characteristics for monitoring the dynamics of strength exercises of the world’s leading armwrestlers weighing over 100 kg. Material and Methods. The study involved the 3 best arm wrestlers in the world weighing over 100 kg (116.00 ± 18.03 kg) in 2017–2020. Four power test exercises have been identified that ensure the performance of a competitive action in arm wrestling: flexion of the fingers, stretch with a hammer, hook and bending the hand. These exercises were performed with the left and right hands. Strength indicators in all test exercises were measured with an FL1K 0.5N, 1000N electric strain gauge dynamometer, Kern & Sohn GmbH (China) with an accuracy class of up to 50 g, fixed on a specialized armwrestling table using a specially made an author’s block device. In the course of statistical analysis, the following parameters were determined and calculated: maximum (F) and relative (F1 = ƩF / m) strength, kg; total strength index in four strength exercises (ƩF = F1 + F2 + F3 + F4), kg; time to reach maximum strength (Ʃt = t1 + t2 + t3 + t4), s; speed-strength index (J = ƩF / Ʃt), kg/ms; average strength, index of four exercises ( = ƩF / 4), kg; total strength gradient of four exercises (Ʃt0,5F), ms; speed-strength index in the first 500 ms (J500 = ƩF500 / Ʃt500), kg/ms; time to reach 1 kg force (t1 = Ʃt0.5F / (0.5×F)), ms/kg; Pearson’s correlation analysis; Factor analysis. Results. As a result of the study, the main data on the speed-strength indicators of armwrestlers were obtained and analyzed. In the process of testing, according to the indicators of time periods and these efforts of dynamic strength, the features of the manifestation of explosive, fast and slow strength of arm wrestlers weighing over 100 kg were established. Determining the relationship between strength and speed-strength indicators using factor analysis made it possible to establish two factors that determine the overall variance of the sample. The first factor with a contribution of 70.9 % to the total sample formed the temporal characteristics of effort in test exercises, such as the time to reach maximum effort (r = 0.979), speed-strength index (r = 0.986), force gradient. (r = 0.986) and the time to reach a force of 1 kg (r = 0.979). The second factor with a factor loading of 29.1 % was the maximum force (r = 0.960), the average test strength (r = 0.961) and the achieved force in 500 ms (r = 0.716). Thus, the results of the correlation and factorial analyzes of the strength and speed-strength indicators of armwrestlers weighing more than 100 kg indicate the priority of the temporal characteristics of efforts over strength in a competitive exercise. Conclusions. The study made it possible to test a complex of speed-strength indicators for monitoring the functional state of the world’s leading armwrestlers weighing over 100 kg, an approved system of criteria for time and power characteristics of efforts in competitive exercises allows you to monitor the state of athletes to monitor and predict success in armwrestling. The author’s device used in the study made it possible to automate the process of measurements with high mobility, as well as immediately create a database on the power and speed-strength capabilities of armwrestlers with high accuracy.
Study purpose. Determination of the peculiarities of the manifestation of strength in competitive exercises of highly qualified armwrestlers with different strength abilities. Materials and methods. The study involved the 4 best armwrestlers in the world weighing from 80 to 100 kg (m = 87.50 ± 2.47 kg) in 2017–2020. Four power test exercises have been identified that ensure the performance of a competitive action in armwrestling: flexion of the fingers, stretch with a hammer, hook and bending the hand. Strength indicators in all test exercises were measured with an FL1K 0.5N, 1000N electric strain gauge dynamometer, Kern & Sohn GmbH (China), fixed on the armwrestling table using an author’s block device. Results. The results of the correlation analysis of the relationships between the studied indicators confirm the presence of a difference in the direction and strength of the relationships between the strength and time characteristics of the efforts of athletes with different strength and speed-strength abilities. Thus, out of 36 correlation indicators, the data of armwrestlers 1 and 2 have 11 modules with very high connection strength (r = 0.926–0.999), of which 7 modules are with time and 4 modules are with force characteristics of efforts. Athletes 3 and 4 also have 3 modules with very strong connections (r = 0.916–0.948) and 8 modules with strong connections (r = 0.739–0.886), of which 7 modules are with strength indicators and 4 modules are related to time characteristics. But the other correlation indicators have very weak (r < 0.29) and weak (r = 0.3–0.5) levels of relationships. Conclusions. Analysis of the time and force characteristics of the manifestation of force in the process of achieving boundary resistance allows us to clearly establish the genetically determined speed and strength abilities of the explosive, fast and slow force of armwrestlers.
The article reveals the definition of the features of the manifestation of the dynamic strength of the world's leading armwrestlers. The study involved 3 of the world's best armwrestlers weighing from 62 to 74 kg: athlete 1 – multiple world champion (m = 62 kg); athlete 2 – multiple US champion, winner of international competitions (m = 62 kg); athlete 3 – champion of Ukraine, winner of international competitions (m = 74 kg). Four power test exercises have been identified that ensure the performance of a competitive action in arm wrestling: flexion of the fingers, stretch with a hammer, hook and bending the hand. These exercises were performed with the left and right hands. Strength indices in all test exercises were measured with an FB5k series electrical tenzodynamometer (Poland) with an accuracy class of up to 100 g, fixed on a specialized armwrestling table using a specially made block device – “ARM1 Device” (patent #43082). In the course of statistical analysis, the following parameters were calculated: maximum and relative strength, total strength index in four strength exercises (F), time to reach maximum strength (t), speed-strength index (F / t), average strength index of four exercises (F / 4), the gradient of the total strength of the four exercises (t0.5F), the strength index in the first 100 ms and 500 ms, the speed-strength index in the first 500 ms (F500 / t500), the time to reach a force of 1 kg (t0.5F / (0.5×F)); Pearson correlation analysis. These indicators make it possible to determine the natural ability to manifest one or another type of dynamic force; clarify the direction and content of the training process; to conduct an effective selection of armwrestlers at different stages of a long-term training process; predict the expected sports result; determine the tactics of competitive activity of each athlete.
Research purpose. The aim of the study was to determine the model indicators of strength readiness of qualified armwrestling student-athletes in the weight category from 80 to 100 kg in 4 strength exercises: flexion of the fingers, stretch with a hammer, hook and bending of the hand. Materials and Methods. The study involved 16 qualified armwrestling student-athletes weighing from 80 to 100 kg (M = 86,63 kg), 7 of which are participants of national championships of Ukraine, and 9 of which are prize-winners of competitions of regional level. During the study, strength indicators were determined in 4 competitive exercises. Strength indices in all test exercises were measured in a static mode by an FB5k series digital force gauge (Poland) with an accuracy class of up to 100 g, which was mounted on a special armwrestling table using a specially made block device. The created design was called the “ARM1 Device” (patent 43082). During the statistical analysis, the following parameters were calculated: arithmetic mean (M), standard deviation (σ), error of representativeness (m) and the coefficient of variation (V). Results. The analysis of the strength capabilities of the qualified student-armwrestlers and the presented models of their strength readiness made it possible to develop assessment criteria for the level of strength readiness of the qualified student-armwrestlers. Three levels of strength readiness have been identified: low (M - σ), high (M + σ) and medium, i.e. more than (M - σ) but less than (M + σ). Comparative analysis of the ratios of different levels of strength training in this group of armwrestling athletes allowed to determine from 128 indicators of strength 14.84% (n = 19) of low level, 62.50% (n = 80) of medium level and 22.66% (n = 29) of high level. Conclusions. The study made it possible to establish the features of the levels of development of strength training of qualified armwrestling athletes weighing from 80 to 100 kg. The model indicators of strength training of qualified armwrestlers were also determined. The analysis found that the subject athletes have an insufficient level of strength training and are not fully realized in terms of strength capabilities (62.50% indicators of the average level of strength).
In the arm-wrestling technique, the main element is the attack phase, which aims to achieve a quick superiority over the enemy. Researchers Zhivora and Usanov classified four main attack methods: top attack, hook attack, push attack, and side attack. During a side attack, a great deal of stress is placed on the flexors of the hand. In connection with this, four strength exercises were selected as test indicators: flexion of the fingers, stretch with a hammer, hook and bending of the hand. These exercises were chosen to determine the level of strength readiness of highly qualified arm-wrestlers. The work aimed to determine the model indicators of strength readiness of highly qualified arm-wrestlers of different weight categories. The study involved 24 arm-wrestlers, 8 in the weight category up to 80 kg, 8 – from 80 to 100 kg and 8 – over 100 kg. Three test athletes are world champions in arm-wrestling, 7 are winners of European and world championships, 9 are participants in European and world championships, 5 are winners of national championships of Ukraine. The following research methods were used in work: theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific, methodological and notable information, pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics. The analysis of the strength capabilities of highly qualified arm-wrestlers and their strength readiness models made it possible to develop assessment criteria for the level of strength readiness of highly qualified arm-wrestlers of three weight categories. Three levels of strength readiness have been identified: low (х ̅ - σ), high (х ̅ + σ) and medium – more (х ̅ - σ), but less (х ̅ + σ). The conducted research allowed to establish the peculiarities of the levels of strength readiness development among highly qualified arm-wrestlers by weight categories. Model indicators of strength readiness of highly qualified arm-wrestlers were also determined. The analysis made it possible to state that athletes of lightweight categories (up to 80 kg and 80-100 kg) are more harmoniously developed according to the test results. Heavy arm-wrestlers (over 100 kg) showed worse results than expected.
