Tourism-driven villages in metropolitan suburbs have become crucial spaces for the interaction of urban and rural factors; however, the spatiotemporal patterns and underlying mechanisms of land use change in such contexts remain inadequately explored. This study takes Huangshandian Village in Beijing, China, as a case study, utilizing remote sensing interpretation, ArcGIS 10.8 spatial analysis, and land use transition matrix methodology to examine tourism-driven land use change from 2008 to 2021. The findings reveal three development stages: initial development, rapid expansion, and integration and upgrading. Tourism development has greatly increased the proportion of tourism-related land, diversified land use structure, and shifted land functions from agriculture to tourism and services. Under urban–rural interaction, power-driven (local governments), resource-driven (village collectives and villagers), and capital-driven (enterprises, entrepreneurs, tourists) actors have jointly reshaped land use through the circulation and integration of key resources. This study reveals the mechanisms of tourism-driven rural land use transformation and provides theoretical and practical insights for land planning and sustainable rural tourism development in metropolitan suburban areas.
Online reviews are widely used to evaluate tourism performance, but it remains unclear whether platform ratings adequately reflect the underlying tourist experience. This study uses 67,744 cleaned Ctrip reviews from 112 A-level scenic spots in Liaoning Province, China, to examine what online reviews reveal beyond conventional satisfaction metrics. The final analytical sample comprises 106 threshold-qualified attractions with at least 100 reviews, supplemented by six highly reviewed sub-attractions that were listed separately on the platform but belonged to officially recognized A-level scenic systems. We combine topic modelling, sentiment analysis, and a rating-sentiment analytical framework to identify experiential dimensions, emotional patterns, and attraction-level sentiment risk. The results reveal a five-dimensional structure of tourist experience, including accessibility and ticketing, natural landscape imagery, cultural heritage interpretation, service-process quality, and overall affective appraisal. Positive sentiment is concentrated in landscape, heritage, and holistic appraisal themes, whereas negative sentiment is more prominent in accessibility and service-process dimensions. Quadrant-based analysis further shows that favourable ratings may coexist with relatively negative textual sentiment, suggesting that platform ratings and review-text sentiment do not fully converge. To extend review-level evidence to the attraction level, the study develops an attraction-level sentiment-risk indicator that captures the concentration of sentiment-negative reviews within each scenic spot. The findings suggest that online reviews function as a dual-channel evaluative system and can support sustainable destination management through more sensitive monitoring of operational friction and experiential risk.
Tourist source markets are often described through origin shares or flow volumes, but these measures cannot explain how destination cities build diversified, spatially extended, temporally stable, and network-embedded linkages with source markets. This study develops a system-oriented Market Accessibility and Interaction Index (MAI) for measuring city-level tourist source-market linkage capacity from online review origin data. Using Ctrip reviews collected during a unified data-collection window in October 2025 from 112 A-level attractions selected from the official Liaoning provincial catalog, we compiled a review-level dataset of 76,855 records and retained 29,327 reviews with valid origin, destination-city, timestamp, and distance information for the main analysis. The method proceeded in four steps: sample construction and origin standardization; city-to-origin distance measurement; seven-dimensional indicator construction; and normalization, aggregation, robustness testing, and benchmark comparison. The MAI integrates market scale, source diversity, interprovincial attraction, external effective radius, seasonal stability, input strength, and PageRank centrality. Results reveal pronounced inter-city differentiation. Dalian is the strongest source-market linkage hub, followed by Huludao, Dandong, and Jinzhou, while lower-ranked cities display narrower or less embedded source-market structures. Comparative benchmarking shows that MAI captures multidimensional linkage capacity more comprehensively than single indicators such as review volume, external share, distance reach, or PageRank alone. The study contributes a system-oriented diagnostic measure of city-level source-market linkage capacity and extends online review data from evaluative analysis to structural market measurement.
The development of cities has resulted in the increasing importance of historical and cultural blocks as carriers cultural communication and valuable resources for urban and tourism development. However, there is a paucity of research on the economic resilience of historical and cultural blocks and its influencing factors in the context of tourism development. This study investigated 21 historical and cultural blocks in Beijing and employed fsQCA to identify factors influencing their tourism economic resilience. We found that:(1) the tourism economic resilience of historical and cultural blocks is jointly influenced by a combination of factors, among which high tourism element investment is necessary for high tourism economic resilience. (2) There are three high tourism economic resilience configurations of historical and cultural blocks: the cultural and creative industry empowerment-driven model, the folklore community collaborative governance model, and the cultural-resources-concentrated development model; along with two non-high tourism economic resilience configurations: the Tourism Investment Deficiency Model and the Single Tourism Resource Model. These results provide the theoretical foundation and practical guidance for strengthening the tourism economic resilience of historical and cultural blocks, updating the blocks, and improving their tourism development.
Airport airside operations, including gate assignment, ground movements and runway scheduling, are under increasing pressure from the recovery of air traffic demand since COVID-19. Most existing studies integrate airside operations hierarchically, losing the chance to further collaborate on airside resources. Aiming to address the problem from the systematic perspective, this paper integrates the airside operations in a non-hierarchical way, where the operations on gate, taxiway, and runway are optimised without preference. The proposed mixed integer programming model shows the interaction between the airside operations. And adaptive large neighbourhood search algorithm is applied as the solution method. The proposed removal/insertion operators and deconflicting procedure are imperative in addressing airside conflicts. Real world cases from the Nanjing Lukou International Airport are used for numerical experiments. Results illustrate the proposed approach outperforms existing hierarchical methods in terms of reducing airside conflicts and delays, without sacrificing gate and runway utilisation.
The transformation of traditional food markets into urban tourism destinations has garnered increasing attention, yet the mechanisms driving tourist motivations remain underexplored. This study addresses this gap by proposing a host–guest sharing model grounded in the Theory of Self-Regulation (TSR). Employing a mixed-methods approach, we first conducted grounded theory analysis on 358,700 words of travelogues, identifying six TSR-based constructs: host–guest sharing, sense of place, behavior attitude, desire, subjective norms, and behavioral intention. These constructs were then validated through structural equation modeling (SEM) using survey data from 416 tourists. Results indicate that host–guest sharing (β = 0.925) and sense of place (β = 0.947) are the primary drivers of tourist intention, mediated by behavior attitude (β = 0.662) and desire (β = 0.861). Subjective norms (β = 0.724) further reinforce intention formation. The findings highlight the centrality of authentic cultural experiences and resident–tourist interactions in shaping food market tourism. This research extends the TSR framework by integrating geographical and psychological perspectives and offering actionable insights for urban planners to enhance food markets as sustainable tourism attractions through improved service quality, cultural storytelling, and equitable space design.
With the rapid development of China’s tourism industry, the homogenization of regional tourism images has become a growing concern. To address this, this study quantifies the similarities and differences in tourism image perception across China’s 31 provinces, focusing on 350 5A-level destinations, analyzing 757,046 tourist reviews collected from Ctrip.com in 2024. Using a three-dimensional framework (cognitive, affective, and overall image), we analyze social media data through natural language processing, random forest regression, and social network analysis. Key findings include the following: (1) most comments are positive, with Jiangsu and Chongqing showing high cognitive image similarity but low overall similarity; (2) cognitive image significantly impacts affective image, especially through unique tourism resources; (3) an inter-provincial similarity–difference matrix reveals significant perceptual differences among provinces. This study provides a novel methodological approach for multidimensional image evaluation and offers crucial empirical insights for regional policy-making aimed at optimizing land and tourism resource allocation, balancing regional disparities, and promoting sustainable land use and development across China.
Urban memory is the soul and vitality of the city, which is created and maintained by people’s memory of the living environment. However, urban planning and architecture increasingly lose attention to urban memory, resulting in the loss of uniqueness of urban appearance, and then affect people’s sense of identity of the city. Therefore, using the theory of typology for reference, a new design tool - urban memory typology is proposed, which focuses on and introduces historical elements into urban design, and maintains urban memory through the protection of cultural heritage. This method involves clarifying the intrinsic relationship between existing buildings and urban space through typology theory, identifying carriers of urban memory, and, on this basis, proposing strategies and technologies for urban renewal. This study verifies the validity of urban memory typology through case analysis, such as the conservation planning of Qingdao Old city. The results show that using the typology theory can protect the city memory, maintain the stability of the city form, and enhance the local identity of the residents, which is a new method of urban planning and design in line with the concept of humanistic care and sustainable development. This research work provides new theoretical guidance and practical strategies for the protection of urban memory and urban planning and design.
Intangible cultural heritage is the carrier of national memory and a historical witness. Exploring the spatial distribution and chronological evolution of intangible cultural heritage is of great significance to understand the cultural integrity and historical continuity. Taking the intangible cultural heritage along the Grand Canal as an example, this study carries out spatial deconstruction based on the extent of the spread of intangible cultural heritage and reveales the aggregation pattern through spatial autocorrelation analysis. Then, the historical process and the spatial center of gravity are shown through an evolution tree model. The influencing factors are illustrated via the methods of Geodetector and qualitative analysis. The results are as follows: (1) The two ends of the canal exhibit obvious advantages in the number of intangible cultural heritage items; however, the existence of a spatial mismatch at the city–county level makes the southern endpoint occupy a dominant position. (2) Although there is a high–high aggregation pattern along the whole canal, 29.82% of the counties are distributed widely with low–low aggregation. (3) The spatial center of intangible cultural heritage items from different historical periods generally presents a changing path from north to south and returning north. (4) Intangible cultural heritage items are mainly distributed in areas with a prosperous culture, a high level of economic development, and strong policy and financial support from government. Changes in the natural environment, population migration, economic development, war disasters, and canal shipping have profound impacts over time. This study provides a new idea for the methodological advancement of spatial distribution of intangible cultural heritage, as well as studies on local cultural identity and regional consistency.
The temporal-spatial pattern of linear cultural heritage in the context of the tourism industry is closely linked to heritage management. Using the 1800 km long Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal as an example, this study compared the dynamic evolution of tourism businesses in Beijing, Liaocheng, and Yangzhou at three time points (2010, 2015, and 2019) via nearest neighbor analysis, kernel density estimation, and the standard deviational ellipse. Next, a Geo-detector was used to examine the influencing factors. The results reveal significant growth regardless of the quantity or agglomeration degree from 2010 to 2019, and the direction of industrial expansion is consistent with the flow direction of the canal. Moreover, the explanatory powers of factors related to socioeconomic development and canal resources are obviously stronger than those of the natural environment. The findings of this study offer theoretical constructs and policy recommendations for the sustainable development of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and other linear cultural heritage sites.
The advancement of the intelligent manufacturing industry (IMI) represents the future direction for the world’s manufacturing sector, offering a promising avenue to bolster national competitiveness and enhance industrial manufacturing efficiency. In this study, we took the industrial robot industry (IRI) as a case study to elucidate the spatial distribution and interconnections of IMI from a geographical perspective, and the modified diamond model (DM) was used to analyze the influencing factors. Results show that: 1) the spatial pattern of IRI with various investment attributes in different industrial chain links is generally similar, centered in the southeast. Key investment areas are in the east and south. The spatial distribution of China’s IRI covers a multitude of provinces and obtains different scales of investment in different countries (regions). 2) The spatial correlation between foreign investors and China’s provincial-level administrative regions (PARs) forms a network, and the network of foreign-invested enterprises is more stable. Different countries (regions) have distinct location preferences in China, with significant spatial differences in correlation degrees. 3) Overall, the interaction of these factors shapes the location decisions and correlation patterns of industrial robot enterprises. This study not only contributes to our theoretical knowledge of the industrial spatial structure and industrial economy but also offers valuable references and suggestions for national IMI planning and relevant industry investors.
Scientific tourism (ScT) of geoheritage serves as a crucial approach to ensuring the protection of natural heritage. Establishing a comprehensive evaluation system to guide the exploration of ScT in geoheritage is essential. This study adheres to principles of comprehensiveness by integrating both qualitative and quantitative methods, ensuring operability, authenticity, and scientific rigor. It employs the analytic hierarchy process, expert consultation method, and fuzzy mathematical evaluation method to construct an evaluation index system. This system encompasses four dimensions: ScT of geoheritage resources, practices and construction related to ScT, auxiliary conditions for exploration, and ecological environment construction. The study uses Fangshan Global Geopark in Beijing as a case study for empirical analysis. The findings indicate that the constructed evaluation system effectively captures key factors influencing the exploration of the ScT of geoheritage. Fangshan Global Geopark demonstrates commendable performance in terms of its ScT of geoheritage resources as well as practices and construction. But it has limitations regarding auxiliary conditions for exploration and ecological environment construction. This study provides theoretical underpinnings and policy recommendations for the exploration of the ScT of geoheritage.
Resort socioecological systems (SESs) have changed significantly worldwide because of rapid urbanisation and tourism development. Exploring the dynamics and driving mechanisms of resort SES at different stages is beneficial for understanding urban adaption to future pressure, creating elaborate strategies for tourism innovation, and achieving sustainable resort development. Therefore, this study proposed the Adaptive-TALC model as a novel analytical framework for resort evolution, using Qinhuangdao Resort as an empirical case study. The results revealed that 1) from 1979 to 2023, Qinhuangdao tourism resort had been gradually transformed from a simple socioecological system based on natural resource utilization to a complex adaptive system integrating natural and human resource utilization, 2) governance systems played a pivotal role in resort evolution, and business utilized digital technology to innovate resort products, thereby accelerating system renewal and reorganisation, and 3) within the context of panarchy, Aranya's holiday products serve as a model for local businesses to improve and innovate their products and ultimately promote Qinhuangdao's sustainable development. This study contributes to theories of tourist destination evolution by providing a novel framework for the cognition of the tourism resource sustainable utilization in resorts and provides insights into innovative approaches such as nature-cultural hybrid solutions, adaptive urban planning, and digital tourism, enabling tourism cities to enhance their adaption and mitigate potential risks.
自然保护区的外围地区是自然保护区旅游服务的主要集聚地,同时也承担着生态保护和区域社会经济发展的重要功能,厘清自然保护区外围区空间演变特征与机制对于自然保护区及周边的整体性保护和可持续发展具有重要意义.以土地利用变化为切入点,探讨旅游导向下长白山自然保护区外围区的空间演变,界定自然保护区外围区"生态稳定—生产生活—旅游服务"三大功能空间,构建基于土地利用类型划分的功能空间识别方法,结合多源数据,对2005-2020年间长白山自然保护区外围区空间演变特征进行分析并探讨其驱动机制,结果发现:(1)长白山自然保护区外围区以生态稳定功能空间为主导,但逐渐向生产生活功能空间和旅游服务功能空间转化,功能空间变化主要集中在人为活动较为密集的城镇周边.(2)生态稳定功能空间先扩大后减小,景观格局逐渐多元化.生产生活功能空间不断增加,城镇化快速发展,推动大量生态稳定功能空间转化为生产生活功能空间.旅游服务功能空间显著增加,逐渐带动地方形成以旅游为主导的产业结构,推动生态稳定功能空间、生产生活功能空间向旅游功能空间转化.(3)功能空间转化受自然环境、政策落实和社会经济发展等多种因素影响,其中政策落实、城镇发展和产业发展是推动向三大功能空间转化的主要动力.
本文基于Web of Science核心合集和中国知网收录的期刊文章,借助CiteSpace软件对国内外线性文化遗产文献进行分析,明确了萌芽期(1991—2005年)和发展期(2005—2021年)两个研究阶段,并根据知识图谱提取的关键词,从管理保护和旅游利用两方面对相关研究进行了系统回顾.结果表明,管理保护方面的研究成果集中在功能演变、景观设计与规划、空间结构与管理和遗产保护,旅游利用方面的研究则关注旅游类型与产品开发、旅游价值评估、旅游利益相关者、影响及作用.据此,本文分别对线性文化遗产的管理保护和旅游利用提出实践指导意见,并强调在未来研究中,仍需完善理论体系构建、拓展尺度范围、重视遗产保护和强化耦合关系,以促使研究体系完善.
Under carbon peak and carbon neutrality constraints, improving the tourism carbon emission efficiency is of great significance to realize the low-carbon development of tourism. Based on the panel data of provinces in China from 2003-2019, the improved entropy method and SBM model based on the undesired output are used to measure the level of new-type urbanization and tourism carbon emission efficiency of 30 provinces in China in the research. On the basis, a spatial Durbin model is further constructed to explore the spatial spillover effect of new-type urbanization on tourism carbon emission efficiency. The results show that:(1) During the research period, the average level of new-type urbanization increases from 0.251 to 0.481, with an annual growth rate of 5.4%; the average of tourism carbon emission efficiency increases from 0.598 to 0.719, with an average annual growth rate of 1.2%. At the same time, both of them present an obvious spatial pattern where the higher provinces are in the eastern region while the lower provinces are in the western region.(2) Bivariate Moran′s I shows that there is a positive spatial correlation of the new-type urbanization and tourism carbon emission efficiency, and the positive spatial correlation is gradually increasing. Meanwhile, the number of regions which are in H-H type and L-L type decreases while the number of regions which are in H-L type and L-H type increases.(3) New-type urbanization has a significant positive spillover effect on tourism carbon emission efficiency. At the same time, there is an obvious positive spatial spillover effect on tourism carbon emission efficiency in China, and the improvement of tourism carbon emission efficiency in each province will have a significant improvement effect on the tourism carbon emission efficiency in the neighboring provinces.
文章基于Python、Gephi平台,利用HanLP、SnowNLP等自然语言处理(NLP)工具对比分析中国京津冀、长三角两大城市群的旅游形象感知,对其进行词汇分析、双词共现短语、语义网络分析,实现从点、线、面层层递进式探索.研究表明:①京津冀、长三角认知形象在旅游目的地、旅游配套设施、旅游资源等方面具有一定程度的相似性,同时两大城市群旅游形象各具特色.②京津冀、长三角情感形象感知以积极情感为主,消极为辅,中性占比最低.相对于长三角情感形象,京津冀积极情感占比较多,消极情感占比较少.③旅游资源距离和类型等影响旅游形象关联.④两大城市群整体旅游形象感知具有小世界网络属性,其语义网络呈现"中心—外围"结构,且以正面形象为主.⑤文章构建城市群旅游形象的"T(旅游者)—S(旅游空间)—R(旅游资源)"理论框架.
Linear cultural heritage (LCH) is a precious treasure of human beings, but its spatial distribution and development modes in the context of tourism value are not clear. This study constructs the resource (R) -natural environment (N)-industrial economy (I) evaluation system through the Delphi method, analytical hierarchy process and entropy method to examine tourism value from the perspective of the whole heritage. This system is verified to the case of a World Heritage Site, the 1800 km-long Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in China. Combined with the situation of 22 cities along the canal, the standard values of each evaluation variable are determined. Besides total tourism value, R-N-I coordination is also calculated through a three-dimensional model. They are regarded as a classification basis in the grouping analysis method. According to the results, a resource is the most important factor, while natural environment and industrial economy are external supports for LCH tourism. Tourism value along Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is divided into 'high-value imbalance type', 'key breakthrough type', 'comprehensive strengthening type' and 'low-value restriction type'. The findings offer theoretical construct and policy recommendations for the development and sustainability of LCH tourism.
旅游流是旅游研究的重点领域.当前,应用大数据技术对旅游流进行研究渐成趋势.本研究面向大数据应用视角下的旅游流研究前沿,以国际学术期刊发表的相关论文为研究对象,总结相关领域的研究进展,并提出研究展望.分析发现:(1)自2013年来,大数据应用视角下的旅游流研究呈快速发展态势,涉及旅游、管理、经济、信息技术等多个领域,成果呈多元化发展趋势.(2)基于关键词共现性网络分析,旅游流研究可划分为5个凝聚子集;研究主题方面,相关成果主要聚焦于旅游流的测量与刻画、旅游流的时空格局与效应、旅游流的影响因素及预测研究;应用数据方面,用户生成数据、设备数据、管理数据为主要数据源;研究方法方面,空间统计和分析法、网络分析法、模型构建法以及不同研究方法的交互融合是主要研究手段.(3)现有研究成果在主题、数据和方法等方面尚存在发展不平衡性,未来在研究主题拓展、大小数据融合、多学科方法集成等方面亟待继续探索和深化.
