The decades of forties and fifties were, for the Marxists, years of certainty and hope: A militant knew when to wait and what to do with the interpretation of reality and of the social revolution; it. was known that the revolutionary speech was scientific and the reactionary was ideological. It was clear that the ideology was nothing more than the discourse in which the interests of the dominant. class were expressed. Then arrived the sixties and with them the critic; the certainties became suspect; the ideology accusation that the Marxist directed to the discourse of his opponents became against him; Marx was now guilty of partiality and blindness. However, even today, something tells us that Marx was right; something continues to be uncomfortable in the term ideology, it is necessary to continue characterizing it as a bound discourse to the power and guided to legitimate it. Then, we, facing the need to recover the value of Marx and Engels' positions in The German. Ideology, regard the mechanisms of the operation of social consent and power by the light of new contributions. Besides trying to substantiate the proposal that the ideologies arc discursive practices that drive and legitimate power relationships, this work intends to pay attention to those arguments that make clear that to speak of ideologies is to speak of discourse of the power that it didn't seem to be it.

The article states that Mexico is currently undergoing a profound social crisis which sprang from the fact that public affairs are managed not taking into account the people's interests. That makes us think about the possibility of a more democratic society. To suggest an alternative to antidemocratic practice implies an effort to design an educational project, a sensible utopia, which is viable because it is not a hopeless criticism, but it gathers those elements from reality aiming to social transformation. A democratic society would be one which keeps a true symmetry among individual's interaction, and whose starting point is the universal principle of mutual respect and personal autonomy. Educators should work towards that sort of society through the image of the democratic citizen.
