The present study is to assess the solar-energy extraction from the global Earth land, the continuation demands and the availability use in relation to human population growth in the world through the modeling of different scenarios. For the last few years, global energy becomes the most important commodity for the continuation the life on this Earth. This is due to the decreasing the non-renewable resources such as oil. According to our model, the human population growth in the world will be between 9.5 to 11.00 billion people living on this earth by year 2050 at the current trend of human population growth rate, and we may be facing with shortening of availability of energy. It is important to stress that the energy should be replenished through non-tradition energy supply, but we have to concentrate on the renewable energy, which we can develop to the extent of harvesting this energy in efficient ways. An example for the needs of energy from the land is to calculate how much the Earth can be supporting the human beings. For this regard, if each human being is required to live daily is in need for 2000 calories/per day on an average from the food. This means that the global Earth size has to produce about 15000 billion calories/day and 5475000 billion calories per year as the current estimate of human population of the earth (i.e. 7.5 billion people in year 2017). The question is the Earth can produce these calories to support 7.5 billion people, and we need more calories when the human population grows to be more than 9.5 billion people in the year 2050 in this Earth. This is only for the food that we are consuming and what about another required energy necessity for our continuation of life for production of other commodities that we are in need such as energy for fulling our cars, trucks and other factories. Therefore, solar engineering harvesting from the Earth should be important, and we have to think how we accomplish it. Additionally, we need to sustain our environment by conserving our water resources, and keeping our global climate environmentally in best condition to sustain the land economic and social standards. Further, in this paper, we are discussing the impacts of changing different parameters that affect global energy in this Earth, and what are the useful lessons that we can learn from it. Furthermore, we assess the availability of solarenergy and how to harvest and economic aspects of it. This will lead to sustainability of non-renewable resources such as oil. The aim of this paper is to examine the role of the internet in relation to the potential advantages and limitations arising from the implementation by companies of strategies based on the study of the consumer's brain in the field of food choices. While on the one hand neuromarketing helps to better understand, the consumer's requests and desires allowing the company to put it at the centre of all its decision-making process, on the other, there is the risk that food companies using power of neuroscience to predict the behaviour of the end user, they will generate in it an excessive dependence on purchase or, negatively affecting his eating habits. Indeed, in a context in which internet have the power to influence the life style of consumer, company can use neuromarketing strategies for e-commerce in order to guiding users to new patterns of food behaviour more healthy, preserving the environment and society.
Financial support for companies that pursue ethically and responsibly goals that we could call “off-market” is very important for the company’s sustainability. On the other side, food and sustainability are now an inseparable binomial for the development of our society or rather an inevitable strategic priority in the pursuit of a socio-economic and environmental well-being, both individually and collectively, to be projected in time and space. In this context, support for entrepreneurial projects aimed at achieving this goal represents a crucial leverage not only for the enterprise but for the entire society. In the light of these considerations, this paper aims to clarify the important role that crowd-funding platforms can play because not only they allow the sustainability-oriented agrifood enterprise to “finance its vocation” but above all to potentiate in the society the culture of sustainability in the food field.
Ecological Human Imprint (EHI) e un nuovo indice che rappresenta un’importante misura nel calcolo delle richieste e degli impatti umani sul nostro ambiente globale. In questo senso, l’impronta umana ecologica e una funzione di tutti i parametri che interagiscono tra la potenza della produttivita dell’ecosistema e le interazioni e le attivita umane su un particolare ecosistema o la domanda da parte di quell’ecosistema. Il presente documento trattera e analizzera la produttivita degli ecosistemi e la domanda umana dagli ecosistemi. Produrra analisi complete per misurare la possibilita delle capacita degli ecosistemi di fornire beni e servizi agli esseri umani sul nostro pianeta Terra. Inoltre, il documento discutera i modelli che possono essere utilizzati per misurare la sostenibilita dell’ecosistema e, in particolare, le risorse idriche e cosa dovremmo fare per mantenere gli ecosistemi della salute della terra. A tale riguardo, il documento valutera e introdurra un modello completo denomi-nato Ecological Human Imprint (EHI) e il cambiamento delle risorse idriche degli Stati Uniti (EHI-WR-US) in grado di descrivere lo stato della produttivita dei nostri ecosistemi e gli impatti del cambiamento dell’acqua disponibilita delle risorse e popolazione umana entro i confini terrestri degli Stati Uniti. Inoltre, il documento fornira alcune risposte ai problemi umani negli Stati Uniti; le risorse idriche modi-ficano gli impatti come i risultati delle attivita umane. Inoltre, il modello fornira un avvertimento sull’attuale tendenza all’uso e all’abuso dei nostri ecosistemi naturali e su cio che ci si aspetta da questi ecosistemi per fornire i bisogni umani in risposta all’uso attuale degli ecosistemi statunitensi esistenti. E chiaro dall’analisi di (EHI-WR-US) che gli Stati Uniti raggiungeranno 450 milioni di persone o piu nell’anno 2050, e questo sovraccarichera gli ecosistemi con pesanti richieste e consumi di beni e servizi che questi ecosistemi possono produrre o non puo produrre per le prossime generazioni. Si prevede che il modello valutera gli impatti dell’EHI della popolazione umana negli Stati Uniti dalla trasformazione ecologica dell’uso del suolo e degli impatti economici, localmente negli Stati Uniti. Dall’analisi, il modello ha previsto che la capacita biologica degli Stati Uniti sara degradante nella misura in cui gli ecosistemi non saranno in grado di supportare le popolazioni in crescita e ci sara una carenza di cibo e altri servizi. Si prevede che il fabbisogno sara circa il doppio della terra dell’attuale terra degli Stati Uniti per soddisfare le richieste dei nostri ecosistemi per sostenere la popolazione in crescita e il loro stile di vita. In questo modello, abbiamo utilizzato Stella Software per prevedere gli impatti dell’EHI per il prossimo secolo e cosa dovremmo aspettarci oltre quantitativamente. Il modello sviluppato su presupposti rilassati, assunzione moderata e assunzione prudente della crescita della popolazione umana e, di conseguenza, della capacita biologica degli Stati Uniti EHI con tutte le sue componenti, tra cui l’energia e gli impatti dei cambiamenti climatici che riguardano le risorse idriche e le risorse naturali e la disponibilita di ciclismo risorsa naturale. Di conseguenza, il riscaldamento e i relativi cambiamenti climatici procedono piu rapidamente di quanto generalmente previsto prima. Le condizioni meteorologiche estreme possono causare calore estivo insostenibile insieme alla mancanza di acqua, al fuoco che causa la vegetazione a bruciare e consentira la perdita di vegetazione boschiva. Questo finira con la distruzione e la perdita di cibo disponibile e, di conseguenza, la carestia e la morte umana. Il documento concludera e stabilira diverse raccomandazioni per evitare l’impatto irreversibile degli esseri umani sugli ecosistemi e sul nostro ambiente globale, compreso l’impatto dei cambiamenti climatici e di conseguenza, le risorse idriche e infine la sostenibilita dei nostri ecosistemi
Local communities are a fundamental component of the global strategy aimed at bringing the world on a path of sustainable development. Young people, as has been widely declared, are the architrave on which this territorial strategy must rest. It is our belief that, in order for this to happen, it is necessary to "align" the training models aimed at influencing the quality of the youth component of human capital functional to the objective of sustainability of territorial development. Three results to be achieved: responsible citizen towards the demands of social demand; consumer aware of the impact on society of their consumption patterns, on an economic, social and environmental level; fundamental component of production models oriented to sustainability. The knowledge system has the task of putting in place new "humal capital educational models" capable of implementing this objective. To this end, it is necessary first of all to strengthen the "dialogue" between institutions in charge of the "advocacy" actions and the knowledge system so as to "internalize" the "integrated paradigm for sustainable development" better and better. And, through an increasingly incisive implementation of the "third mission" of the knowledge system, make this last, more and more in line with the moments of the other territorial stakeholders. The objectives of this paper are: to identify actors, roles and actions aimed at defining new training models; propose the constituent elements aimed at determining knowledge and skills of human capital in line with the territorial strategy for sustainable development.
This article, which is based on the science of informatics and environmental technologies, deals with the implementation of informatics in environmental science and practice. It focuses on web-based GIS spatial data sharing application system design and its development, which records and represents specific environmental information with emphasis on habitats and land cover. The system development was made by using JavaScript, PHP as programming languages and Google Maps API. The application provides centralized environmental information with habitats and land cover. It addresses ordinary users and scientists, that not only have the willing to expand their knowledge in the field but also they have the privilege to explore the research area over the map. The users can render the overlay information of spatial habitat and land cover data layers, execute zooming, panning, and information querying functions. Its aim is to offer, to any interested citizen, scientist or organization, direct and reliable environmental information.
Today more than ever, wine sector has revisited its development strategies in terms of sustainability looking at market, society and territories simultaneously and in an integrated way. In this perspective, there are a lot of strategies that the wine sector can develop to achieve sustainability, but the strategy able to realize a real fine tuning of sustainability is surely the identity protection. It plays a central role increasing the sense of belonging of individuals to the model of socio-economic and environmental wellbeing in which they are a fundamental part. After outlining a synoptic scheme of the relationships existing between wine system and territorial identity, this paper offers a case study of a territorial system with wine vocation designed to highlight the interrelationships between the protection of territorial genetic identity and the strategies of environmental sustainability implemented by companies.
The new trajectories established by Agenda 2030 for the achievement of the sustainability of individual and collective well-being impose to look at the socio-economic and environmental repercussions deriving from the use of plastics in the agri-food sector. Starting from an examination of this use and considering the strategies put in place by the European Union, this paper aims to assess whether, from a sustainability point of view, it must now be considered a threat to be avoided or an opportunity to be seized for an agri-food sustainability oriented. More specifically, the paper looks at the New Plastics Economy, a project that should make the economic system more compatible with the needs of the ecosystem and that applies the principles of the circular economy, to solicit local policy makers to reflect on the development strategies able to make companies and consumers more responsible in relation to the use of plastics.
The objective of this paper is to analyse the impacts of the phenomenon of urbanisation through technologies on the agricultural sector. The fast increase of the population living in urban areas and the simultaneous decrease of the population living in rural areas is the main cause of the loss of agricultural lands. In Italy and in particular in Campania region, this loss is accentuated by a high rate of illegal building. Only with the transposition of the Land Use Law and with the implementation of actions aimed at pursuing the objectives of Agenda 2030, we recognise the primary role of the land as the primary factor of agricultural activity. Sustainable use of agricultural soils is an essential prerequisite to ensuring a substantial contribution of agriculture in pursuit of well-being sustainability. Implementation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into social and economic developments has provided key strengths in improving competitiveness and meeting the demands of modern society for life and the economy.
Sustainable development is a questioned philosophy, with theories shaped by people's and organisations' different worldviews, which in turn affect how issues are formulated and actions proposed. It is generally offered as the connection between environment, society and economy, which are considered of as discrete although associated units. The current use of sustainable development is presented, the encouraging of ICT involvement towards sustainable development from the EU and more importantly the emphasis on economic sustainable development, which is a very important issue in society today. They are interrelated, with the economy dependent on society and the environment whereas social presence and humanity are dependent on to the environment. Next we will present green sustainable tourism, which includes some principles and policy prescriptions, in order to have development and environmental protection simultaneously. Next we deliver some definitions of sustainable development, (eco) systems perspective, green marketing, etc. Furthermore, we present sustainable tourism, green tourism in other words and how fundamental it is in maintaining and improving EU position in world tourism. Finally, we deliver digital practices of innovative ICT systems and network tools, which in general improve the relationship between marketers and clients.
La cornice del tutto nuova entro la quale proiettare le strategie di sviluppo della filiera vitivinicola, a fronte sia del consolidamento sul piano internazionale ed europeo dei nuovi competitors che dell’affermarsi di nuove istanze sul piano sociale ed ambientale, pone in risalto il ruolo della filiera stessa come ponte tra il territorio e la societa. Proprio rispetto a questa funzione, oggi piu che mai, emerge la centralita di tale filiera nel costruire benessere garantendo salute. Sulla scorta di tali considerazioni, il lavoro intende disegnare un quadro teorico di riferimento relativo alle determinanti di una strategia di comunicazione maggiormente responsabile verso la societa sperimentando, in un sistema territoriale campano tradizionalmente vocato alla vitivinicoltura, la significativita di una tale strategia, fornendo importanti spunti di riflessione ai policy maker ed agli stakeholder sugli strumenti di governance necessari per accompagnare e sostenere lo sviluppo del settore in un’ottica di sostenibilita.
Di fronte alle sfide per la sostenibilita del benessere, l’impegno principale dei paesi membri dell’UE sara quello di darsi un assetto sostenibile per le persone e per tutti i suoi territori, in cui, attraverso una governance appropriata e necessario assicurarsi vantaggi esclusivi capaci di vincere idee, comportamenti ed attivita omologate, che, essenzialmente, schiacciano i sistemi di valori identitari delle persone e dei territori. Sulla base di queste considerazioni, il presente lavoro mira a sottolineare l’importante ruolo che l’economista deve svolgere, reinterpretando i limiti della teoria alla luce di una nuova e pratica idea di economia, in grado di costruire il benessere e di garantire la sua sostenibilita in tutte le sue dimensioni. Partendo dal ruolo dell’integrazione europea, l’articolo mira a sottolineare l’importanza di ricollocare la questione food in una nuova idea di integrazione europea piu sostenibile per tutti.
Regional sustainability promotes an integrated approach to planning and development in regional communities. European Union legislative acts bring together all levels of government to achieve a holistic approach to sustainability using Information and Communication Technologies tools for better delivery of services. Today, there has been observed an increasing interest in applying e-government to different business sectors such as the environmental sector. Sustainable management of National Forest Parks relies on a complete understanding of the goods and services, which are provided to the society. This paper aims to study e-government websites concerning the 10 Greek National Forest Parks and analyse the websites as to their qualitative and quantitative features. Then, the electronic services model adoption of the websites is assessed. The e-government websites are classified in electronic services adoption stages starting from a simple presence of the government agency in the Internet to the total electronic services integration through multiple ICT tools and applications provision according to content features accomplished by the websites. The findings can be helpful for managers, policy makers, web designers, environmentalists and government agencies.
L’adozione dell’Agenda 2030 per lo sviluppo sostenibile ha rappresentato un riconoscimento mondiale dell’incapacita dell’attuale modello di sviluppo di sviluppo per garantire a tutti il Diritto al benessere sostenibile. Ha inoltre segnalato la necessita di sviluppare un approccio integrato al benessere sostenibile considerando le sue dimensioni economica, sociale, ambientale e istituzionale. Sulla base di tali considerazioni, il presente studio mira a richiamare l’attenzione su un modello economico che dovrebbe essere considerato la chiave per generare crescita e garantire la sostenibilita del benessere territoriale: l’economia circolare. In particolare, focalizzando l’attenzione sul ruolo strategico dell’agricoltura come leva per raggiungere il benessere sostenibile, il lavoro intende offrire spunti ai decisori politici e agli stakeholder territoriali chiamati a rispondere alle sfide attuali e implementare paradigmi che siano in grado di garantire un benessere sostenibile collettivo.
An integrated approach to sustainable well-being of each territorial system rests on the commitment of all its stakeholders to contribute to building a Green Society. This means, for each of them, a no-environmental dumping pathway. If territories aim for a homologation process, to compete with each other, this strategy, especially without strong public and private investments in innovation and labour productivity growth, it will trigger, as a very likely result, a race to the bottom, through the most different ways of dumping. The natural result will be to put at risk the possibility within them, to aim for an integrated approach to sustainable well-being. In this way, the goal of a Green Society and the aim of sustainable development in the global society can not be achieved. This paper aims to illustrate the reasons for this assertion, by providing a new vision to interpret the building of a sustainable society, based on the genetic code of territories.
Agriculture Sector has been associated with production of essential food crops and other crops that are necessary for human being living. Agriculture plays a critical role throughout the life of human population that will reach between 9.5 to 11.0 billion people by year 2050. In spite of increasing the technological advances, the crop production is in decreasing mode due to the growing human demand for crop products. The technological advances as implementation of precision agriculture or agriculture zoning accurately are possible by combining global positioning system and geographic information systems. Recent studies suggest that some genetically modified crops to increase production, pose human health and other things. Therefore, the education of humans in reducing the human growth in order to making balance between human population growth and natural resources’ availability by convincing education and by supporting human choices is the supporting means in this regard. Il settore agricolo e stato associato alla produzione di colture alimentari essen-ziali e altre colture necessarie per la vita umana. L’agricoltura svolge un ruolo fon-damentale per tutta la vita della popolazione umana che raggiungera tra 9,5 e 11 miliardi di persone entro il 2050. Nonostante l’aumento dei progressi tecnologici, la produzione agricola e in diminuzione a causa della crescente domanda umana di prodotti vegetali. I progressi tecnologici come implementazione accurata dell’agricoltura di precisione o della zonizzazione dell’agricoltura sono possibili combinando sistema di posizionamento globale e sistemi di informazione geografica. Recenti studi suggeriscono che alcune colture geneticamente modificate per aumentare la produzione, impattano sulla salute umana e altre cose. Pertanto, l’educazione degli esseri umani nel ridurre la crescita demografica, al fine di bilanciare popolazione e disponibilita di risorse naturali, e la strategia piu appropriata.
Highlighting the important role that the lifestyles can play for the pursuing of the well-being sustainability, this article focuses on the internet as a fundamental tool for the promotion of sustainable behavioural models. In particular, the internet plays a fundamental role in determining the so-called Sustainability Empowerment because it can improve the reference to a sustainable food lifestyle, guiding the visitors, for example, to new patterns of food behaviour most functional to the maintenance of their health, of the environment or economically more convenient.
The quality of feeding, understood as a nutrition founded on quality foods and on the varied and balanced contribution in the diet of an adequate level of nutrients, fibers, vitamins and minerals (low in fat and sugars), is one of the pillars on which a society should establish strategies for keeping in time and space its well-being.The focus on the quality of feeding, however, is susceptible to a double approach: individual and collective. The individual approach, confining attention to the quality of feeding to the type of lifestyle that everyone follows, delimits the relative costs and responsibilities to a personal scope. The collective approach would instead returns the quality in the context of the externalities of a socio-economic and environmental process to be managed with appropriate forms of governance, able to extend the responsibility "over the person" and redetermine the development and the distribution of the costs of quality of feeding. In this second case, a healthy lifestyle becomes the result of a process of promotion and guidance aimed to nest sustainable behaviours and to activate virtuous circles on the base of which lifestyles then, in turn, may become the key to the sustainability of wellbeing in certain territories.In view of this, the present paper aims to highlight the key role of quality of feeding as a determinant of the sustainability of the well-being and solicit the attention of policy makers on the need to implement appropriate governance strategies able to retract obvious market distortions through the support and promotion of healthy and natural lifestyles.
