MAXQDA is a software package for the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and provides numerous functions for effective and efficient data analysis within mixed methods research studies. In this book chapter, we first outline the basic functions of MAXQDA for the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. These basic functions can be used for the separate analysis of the qualitative and quantitative strands of a mixed methods project and often also serve to prepare integrative analyses in which the two types of data are combined and related to each other. We then present 12 different strategies of integration in mixed methods research, distinguishing 4 different types of integration: (a) result-based, (b) data-based, (c) transformation-based, and (d) sequence-oriented integration. Supported by figures and screenshots, we explain how these 12 strategies can be implemented using MAXQDA. An overview table at the end of the chapter provides instructions as to where the necessary functions for conducting these 12 integration strategies can be launched in MAXQDA.
This book shows how to analyze qualitative and mixed method data with MAXQDA, and how to implement various research methods. It covers essential topics, like transcription, building a coding frame, visualization, group comparison and conducting literature reviews.
