The effect of the new Russian-manufactured immunomodulator trekrezan in combination with isosorbide dinitrate on lipid peroxidation is studied in patients with chronic heart failure associated with ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension, and dilated cardiomyopathy. Trekrezan reduces blood content of malonic dialdehyde and diene conjugates and the index of peroxide production and increases the content of vitamin A. Trekrezan can be recommended for clinical use.
The physiological activity of the N-H acid 5-isopropenyltetrazole — 1-vinylpyrrolidone copolymers was studied. The copolymers were found to have anticoagulant properties, but unlike heparin, they act only on the initial stages of blood coagulation. The copolymers were discovered to have immunostimulating activity after immunization of mice with sheep erythrocytes. Investigation of the immunoadjuvant properties of the given compounds with respect to the surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus showed them to have an activity at the level of Freund's adjuvant.

To search for new membranotropic compounds and to establish the biological activity-structure relationships in organosulfur compounds, alkylthiopropionic acid ammoniates were synthesized and screened for their biological activity. The tested ammoniates (R-SCH2CH2COONH4, R = C(n)H2n + 1, n = 2, 3, 5-8, 12) were ascertained to produce membrane-stabilizing immunotropic and wound-healing effects at a fairly low toxicity (180 < LD50 < 900 mg/kg), the biological activity of the compounds in question depending on the nature of R. The highest activity was exhibited by the compounds having n = 5, 6, 8 and correlated with their distribution coefficient in the octanol-water system, which was equal to 3-6.
Polyurethane modified by poly-o-acryloyloxybenzoic acid (I) and its derivative and dimethylethanolamine (II), which have antithrombogenic activity was examined for biocompatible properties. When implanted, the polymeric materials invoked a varying response of connective tissue. A comprehensive biochemical study indicated that the tissue showed a higher response to I-modified polyurethane and a lower response to II-modified polyurethane.
The effects of poly-l-vinyl-1,2,4-triazole on the biochemical parameters of granulation and fibrous tissues in the <<open>> wound defects and in the paraimplant connective tissue capsules were examined in some experiments. The compound was found to produce a stimulating effect on the growth of granulation fibrous tissue and moderate reactogenicity.
