We present a parton-level study of electro-weak production of vector-boson pairs at the Large Hadron Collider, establishing the sensitivity to a set of dimension-six operators in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). Different final states are statistically combined, and we discuss how the orthogonality and interdependence of different analyses must be considered to obtain the most stringent constraints. The main novelties of our study are the inclusion of SMEFT effects in non-resonant diagrams and in irreducible QCD backgrounds, and an exhaustive template analysis of optimal observables for each operator and process considered. We also assess for the first time the sensitivity of vector-boson-scattering searches in semileptonic final states.
Abstract The LHCb Collaboration recently gave an update on testing lepton flavour universality with B + → K +ℓ+ℓ − , in which a 3.1 standard deviations from the standard model prediction was observed. The g-2 experiment also reports a 3.3 standard deviations from the standard model on muon anomalous magnetic moment measurement. These deviations could be explained by introducing new particles including leptoquarks. In this paper, we show the possibility to search for heavy spin-1 leptoquarks at a future TeV scale muon collider by performing studies from three channels: 1) same flavour final states with either two bottom or two light quarks, 2) different flavour quark final states, and 3) a so-called “VXS” process representing the scattering between a vector boson and a leptoquark to probe the coupling between leptoquark and tau lepton. We conclude that a 3 TeV muon collider with 3 ab −1 of integrated luminosity is already sufficient to cover the leptoquark parameter space in order to explain the LHCb lepton flavour universality anomaly.
An electron-muon collider with an asymmetric collision profile targeting multi-ab^-1 integrated luminosity is proposed. This novel collider, operating at collisions energies of e.g. 20-200 GeV, 50-1000 GeV and 100-3000 GeV, would be able to probe charged lepton flavor violation and measure Higgs boson properties precisely. The collision of an electron and muon beam leads to less physics background compared with either an electron-electron or a muon-muon collider, since electron-muon interactions proceed mostly through higher order vector boson fusion and vector boson scattering processes. The asymmetric collision profile results in collision products that are boosted towards the electron beam side, which can be exploited to reduce beam-induced background from the muon beam to a large extent. With this in mind, one can imagine a lepton collider complex, starting from colliding order 10 GeV electron and muon beams for the first time in history and to probe charged lepton flavor violation, then to be upgraded to a collider with 50-100 GeV electron and 1-3 TeV muon beams to measure Higgs properties and search for new physics, and finally to be transformed to a TeV scale muon muon collider. The cost should vary from order 100 millions to a few billion dollars, corresponding to different stages, which make the funding situation more practical.
In addition to economic performance, this paper explores another incentive factor of local political leaders in China---being clean (or staying away from corruption). Our data suggests that both factors are crucial to provincial leaders’ promotion. Given these incentives, this paper establishes a model to describe the decision-making process of political leaders regarding fiscal expenditures, and conducts an empirical test of political budget cycles using Chinese provincial-level data from 1990 to 2006. The findings show that promotion incentives drive cyclical fluctuations in various types of local fiscal expenditures that are synchronized with the timing of the National Congress of the Communist Party (NCCP). Specifically, the growth rate of infrastructure expenditure significantly reduces, while that of administration expenditure increases during the years in which the NCCP takes place. This paper also tests another possible channel of political budget cycles; that is, the time inconsistency effect caused by the turnover of provincial leaders. This effect turns out to be insignificant for all types of expenditures.

本文基于1999年至201 1年中国281个地级市土地出让面板数据进行实证分析,发现土地出让具有随省级党代会的召开时间而变化的政治周期性.具体表现为,党代会召开前一年,土地出让面积下降约8.7%;党代会召开后一年,土地出让面积增加约10.1%.土地出让收入也呈现相同的政治周期性特征.这个结果在控制了官员个人特征等变量后仍然十分稳健.本文的分析还显示,官员一上任有冲动大量出让土地,但是没有证据表明离任前会减少土地出让.原因是党代会的政治周期与官员更替并不等同,党代会是可以预期的政治事件,利益相关方会做出反应,从而对土地出让产生一定程度的扭曲.
本文研究了中国省级政府财政支出的政治周期及其激励机制.近期声势浩大的反腐斗争表明,经济政绩不再是官员晋升的唯一标准,清明廉洁同样是中央考察省级官员的一个重要指标.基于这两方面的晋升激励,本文首先建立了一个政治生命周期模型来刻画中国省级官员的财政支出决策行为,并利用中国1990~2010年的数据使用GMM方法进行实证检验.结果表明,晋升激励导致不同类型的财政支出随着中央党代会召开产生了周期性变化.本文从财政政策波动的角度证明近期的反腐斗争已经取得了一定成效,对官员行为产生了较大影响.
本文在财政分权框架下建立三级政府的政治生命周期模型,研究了中国市级财政支出及结构的政治周期性及产生机制,并对财政支出的周期性波动进行解释.利用1992-2010年中国280个城市的面板数据进行的实证检验结果表明:在省级党代会召开时,市级财政总支出增长率显著增加,其中生产性支出比重显著增加,而福利性支出比重显著减少.此外,市级财政支出的变化还与省级官员的晋升状态密切相关.

For β>0 let Fβ denote the Fréchet algebra of all holomorphic functions f on the unit disk Δ for which limr→1(1−r)βlog+[max|z|≤r|f(z)|]=0. We extend Zygmund's Theorem characterising the Bloch functions via a generalised Libera transform and so we answer an open problem formulated by N. Danikas, S. Ruscheweyh and A. Siskakis. Furthermore, we show some differences between the holomorphic Zygmund class and the class of holomorphic functions whose derivatives are of logarithmic growth on the unit disk.
