Peer review in writing is frequently debated as a pedagogic strategy domestically;abroad it has been advanced from mere theoretical exploration and empirical research to the application into online writing across curriculum.This paper charts the course of the theoretical exploration of peer review abroad and elaborates how peer review is supported by process writing theory,cooperative writing theory,second language acquisition theory and Vygotsky developmental theory so as to recruit the attention to peer review from empirical writing research.
