Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role as a main pillar of Indonesia’s economy; however, their sustainability increasingly depends on the ability of business actors to implement effective and adaptive marketing communication strategies amid intense competition. This study aims to analyze the application of the promotion mix in the marketing communication strategy of Sarang Kepiting, a seafood culinary MSME that has been operating since 1983 in North Jakarta. This research contributes novelty by examining the promotion mix in a long-established culinary MSME with a multi-generational customer base, emphasizing promotional practices that are contextual, relationship-oriented, and embedded within service interactions. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the owner, employees, and customers, as well as observation and documentation. The findings indicate that Sarang Kepiting has implemented all elements of the promotion mix, advertising, sales promotion, public relations, personal selling, and direct marketing, although the implementation remains simple, situational, and not yet systematically structured. Personal selling emerges as the most dominant element in building customer loyalty. This study concludes that the application of the promotion mix contributes positively to brand awareness and business sustainability, and has the potential to enhance the competitiveness of culinary MSMEs if managed more consistently and integratively across all elements.
Banking companies play a strategic role in supporting national economic growth, making their financial performance a primary concern for investors and stakeholders. Net profit is a crucial indicator for assessing a company’s performance and sustainability, and it is theoretically influenced by revenue and total assets. Discrepancies in previous research findings regarding the influence of revenue and total assets on net profit indicate the need for further empirical studies, particularly in the banking industry, which is characterized by high liquidity and substantial market capitalization. This study aims to analyze the effect of revenue and total assets on net profit in banking companies indexed in IDX30 for the period 2014–2023. The research employs a quantitative method using secondary data in the form of annual financial reports from PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, and PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression, preceded by classical assumption tests and supplemented by the coefficient of determination (R²) test, F-test, and t-test. Data processing was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) application. The results indicate that revenue has a positive and significant effect on net profit. Furthermore, total assets also have a positive and significant effect on net profit. These findings suggest that increased revenue and optimal management of total assets—both current and fixed assets—play a substantial role in enhancing net profit in banking companies listed in the IDX30 index.
Background and Objectives Rice bran is a fiber-rich by-product of rice milling with potential as a functional ingredient in instant noodles, but it often impairs texture and appearance. This study examined the effects of rice bran particle size (coarse, medium, fine) and transglutaminase-induced protein crosslinking on the physicochemical and sensory properties of instant noodles at a fixed substitution level.Findings Rice bran incorporation increased total dietary fiber, ash, and antioxidant activity in all formulations. Crude protein content remained comparable among samples. However, amino acid profiles changed, showing reductions in both essential and non-essential amino acids, along with lower protein quality indices. The fine fraction, particularly with transglutaminase, retained tensile force and extensibility close to the wheat control and produced a smoother surface, whereas medium and coarse fractions were darker, speckled, and gritty, which reduced overall acceptability. CATA highlighted "yellowish" and "smooth surface" as desirable attributes, while "speckled surface" and "gritty" were undesirable. Conclusions Particle-size reduction and enzymatic crosslinking are critical for producing rice bran-enriched instant noodles with texture close to the control and strong panel acceptance, although darker color is unavoidable.Significance and Novelty This study connects fiber fortification, amino acid changes, and antioxidant gains with practical particle-size and crosslinking strategies, supported by instrumental measures, CATA profiling, and hedonic data.
Open-pit gold mining has greatly affected the ecological balance by altering soil properties and reducing natural vegetation cover. Reclamation efforts through soil and vegetation recovery are therefore essential to help rebuild the disturbed ecosystem. This study examined how the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) relates to soil physicochemical properties in the Martabe gold mine reclamation area, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Vegetation recovery at different reclamation ages was analyzed using multitemporal Landsat 8 images. Soil samples were taken from the same locations at depths of 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm to observe changes in soil characteristics. Data were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to identify the main factors linking vegetation and soil conditions. Key ecological indicators were determined through the Minimum Data Set (MDS) approach. The PCA results indicated that the primary components explained 90.7% of the variation in soil physical properties and 74.6% of the variation in chemical properties. Important indicators of the ecological recovery were NDVI, bulk density, porosity, aggregate stability, organic carbon, total nitrogen, cation exchange capacity (CEC), and base saturation. The rise in NDVI values coincided with improved soil conditions, showing a relationship between vegetation re-growth and soil quality improvement.
This study aims to analyze the differences in the financial performance of companies in the consumer cyclicals sector before and after the implementation of the value-added tax rate increase policy to 11%. The strong protests from businesses and the public against this policy, coupled with the government's plan to raise the value-added tax rate again to 12%, as well as the lack of research addressing this topic, motivated this study to examine the differences in the financial performance of consumer cyclicals companies before and after the increase in the value-added tax rate. Financial performance in this study is represented by profitability, liquidity, and solvency. Profitability is proxied by return on equity, liquidity by the quick ratio, and solvency by the debt-to-equity ratio. The population of this study is 141 consumer cyclicals companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange over eight quarters, from the 2nd quarter of 2021 to the 1st quarter of 2023. The sampling technique used is purposive, yielding a sample of 95 companies. The analysis method used is the paired-samples t-test in SPSS version 25. The results of this study indicate that there is no difference in return on equity before and after the increase in the value-added tax rate. However, there are differences in the quick ratio and debt-to-equity ratio before and after the increase in the value-added tax rate.
