Language and social development of children plays an important role in influencing further development. The objectives of this research are to determine the effect of drawing based on story- telling toward language development and social development of children age 5–6 years. Single subject research with reversal design ABAB was used in this experimental research. Four kindergarten children identified having language and social problems became the subjects. The observation was used to col- lect data. In addition, the data were put into graphs to be analyzed by using visual inspection. The results showed that drawing activities based on story telling could improve the scores of language development for each subject; and also improves the pro-social attitude of each subject. And at the same time the aggressive attitude for each subject decreased. It concludes that drawing based on story telling improve language and social development of children aged 5–6 years effectively.
This paper presents a discrete-time approach to the design of proportional–integral (PI) controllers for second-order systems, focusing on stability region mapping and performance enhancement via delay augmentation. Unlike conventional tuning in the continuous domain, direct discrete-time analysis enables a more accurate characterization of the sampled dynamics. The methodology derives the complete set of stabilizing (k_p, k_i) gains and identifies the fastest stabilizing controller by maximizing the closed-loop decay rate. The framework is then extended to a proportional–integral–retarded (PIR) structure by introducing intentional delays in the feedback path. The stability boundaries are mapped in the augmented gain space and the performance is compared with classical PI control. Simulation results show that appropriately tuned delays can expand the achievable performance limits, achieving faster settling times while preserving zero steady-state error and robustness.
Background Asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) is an under-recognized clinical condition, particularly in low-resource settings, with significant implications for antimicrobial resistance and public health. This study investigated the prevalence, microbial profile, and antibiotic susceptibility patterns of ASB among individuals residing in public housing in Obinze, Imo State, Nigeria. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 150 randomly selected asymptomatic individuals. Structured questionnaires were used to collect sociodemographic data, assess hygiene practices, and evaluate ASB awareness. Midstream urine samples were collected and subjected to standard microbiological analyses, including culture, gram staining, and biochemical tests. The isolates were tested for antibiotic susceptibility using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 28. Results A total of 75 bacterial isolates were recovered. Escherichia coli was the most prevalent organism (56%), followed by Staphylococcus aureus (28%), Enterococcus spp. , Pseudomonas aeruginosa (6.7% each), and Klebsiella spp. (2.6%). Most participants exhibited poor awareness of ASB, with only 2% accurately identifying its diagnostic threshold. Hygiene practices varied, with a high proportion reporting inappropriate genital cleaning methods and urination in public spaces due to a lack of sanitation facilities. Antibiotic resistance was observed among the isolates, highlighting the potential threat of community-based reservoirs for resistant strains. Conclusion This study revealed a high burden of ASB and identified critical gaps in public awareness, hygiene practices, and sanitation infrastructure. These findings underscore the urgent need for targeted health education, routine ASB screening, improved sanitation, and antibiotic stewardship programs to mitigate public health risks in similar settings.
This study investigated the relationship between achievement motivation and academic achievement among secondary school students in Delta State, Nigeria.Employing a descriptive survey research design.A sample of 192 students was selected using a sample size calculator with confidence level parameters Data collection relied on a questionnaire. The collected data underwent statistical analysis, including structural equation modeling for hypothesis testing and descriptive analysis for calculating means and standard deviations. The study's findings revealed a significant relationship between achievement motivation and the academic achievement of secondary school students.Furthermore, gender was found to have no significant mediating effect on the relationship between achievement motivation and academic achievement among these students.Conversely, socio-economic status displayed a significant mediating influence on the connection between achievement motivation and academic achievement. In light of these findings, the study offers recommendations for educational institutions and policymakers to consider programs and initiatives that promote and enhance achievement motivation among students.
A descriptive survey research approach was chosen for the investigation. The method of inquiry was chosen since the researcher employed a questionnaire to collect information from respondents. The population includes 41 undergraduates with hearing impairment at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Imo State and 7 lecturers. The study sample consists of thirty-four (34) out of 41 students with hearing impairment who were registered for regular /evening programmes and, seven (7) lecturers who taught them remotely. The data gathering tool was a structured questionnaire adapted from Okoro (2015) and termed Digital Platforms for Remote Teaching of Deaf Students (DPRTDS). The instrument was validated for face and content validity. The questionnaire was administered through the help of three research assistants. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Statistics (PPMC) was used to test hypotheses at the 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed a substantial association between preferred digital platforms and perceived effectiveness of remote teaching/learning .However, no positive relationship was observed between gender and preferred digital platforms among students with hearing-impairment at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri. In accordance with the findings, it was recommended, among other things, that students be consulted concerning their preferred digital learning formats and instructors be given incentives and timetables for developing, preparing, and uploading instructional contents
