This article is devoted to the impact of the urbanized area of Naryn city on the water quality of the Naryn River. The studied river, which is 807 km long, serves as the main tributary of the Syr-Darya River and responds a key water artery of Central Asia. To assess the influence of anthropogenic activities, data on the chemical composition of surface water were collected from three monitoring stations over a five-year period (2019–2023). The results reveal significant variations in the concentration of cations, anions and heavy metals along the river’s course throw the city. The cation concentration indicates the predominant role of calcium ions (Ca2+), which is primarily due to their influx into aquatic systems as a result of the weathering of calcium-bearing rocks. Elevated concentrations of Ca2+ and Mg2+ observed at the second and third monitoring stations may indicate a potential influence of urban runoff and domestic wastewater on water quality. These finding highlight the need for improved wastewater management and сcontinuous water quality monitoring to preserve this critical freshwater resource. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the importance of implementing environmental protection measures to mitigate pollution risks and ensure sustainable water use in the region.
Examine the application of the comparative teaching method in Kyrgyz language practical classes for medical students. The relevance of the study stems from the need to find effective methods for teaching the state language in the multi-ethnic environment of a medical university, where students often encounter interference between their native language (Russian, Uzbek, or English) and the target language. The author substantiates the feasibility of using comparison as a method for developing the professional communicative competence of future medical students. The paper presents examples of comparative analysis of grammatical systems and medical terminology and offers practical recommendations for organizing classes. It is concluded that the comparative method promotes conscious acquisition of material, overcomes language interference, and develops the bilingual personality of medical students.
The article considers aging as a complex socio-cultural and existential phenomenon that goes beyond the exclusively biological process. The purpose of the study is to analyze aging as a multidimensional phenomenon, including social, cultural and philosophical aspects, as well as to substantiate the need for an integrative approach to its study. The paper shows that old age is socially constructed through norms, values, and institutional practices that determine the status and role of older people in society. At the same time, aging is revealed as an important stage of the existential formation of a personality, associated with a reassessment of life experience, comprehension of time, finiteness and the meaning of existence. Special attention is paid to the concept of active aging, the problem of ageism, the phenomenon of life review, the search for the meaning of life in later life, existential loneliness and identity transformation. Based on the analysis of philosophical and gerontological approaches, it is concluded that aging should be understood not as a period of loss exclusively, but as a significant stage of life with its own value, meaning and potential. The necessity of forming a more humanistic model of attitude to old age in the context of demographic aging of the population is substantiated.
Event-based news hooks serve as an effective tool for territorial branding. The World Nomad Games (2014, 2016, 2018) catalyzed the dissemination of information about Kyrgyzstan as a tourist destination, fostering a positive image and increasing its appeal to investors. An event-based news hook is a specific occurrence that captures the attention of target audiences and the media, thereby enhancing territorial recognition, improving its reputation, and attracting tourists. Territorial branding is the process of cultivating a positive perception of a specific area: the unique characteristics of a location serve as branding advantages that increase its visibility among international and domestic tourists, investors, and the local population compared to competing destinations. This research examines the influence of event-based news hooks on the image and reputation of Kyrgyzstan through the successful case of the World Nomad Games. By employing systemic, structural-functional, and interdisciplinary approaches alongside questionnaire-based methods, the study demonstrates that the World Nomad Games significantly bolstered tourist attractiveness, serving as a pivotal factor in promoting the territory to tourists, investors, and business partners.
The systematisation of function word classes remains a pressing issue in contrastive linguistics, as typologically divergent languages employ fundamentally different mechanisms for encoding grammatical relations. This study aimed to establish the types and hierarchy of cross-linguistic functional correspondences between four Kyrgyz function word classes – postpositions, auxiliary nouns, conjunctions, and particles and their structural equivalents in German, with a view to identifying the compensatory grammatical mechanisms each language employs when the resources of the other are structurally absent. The research drew on contrastive analysis, the parallel-text method, descriptive-analytical procedures, and componential analysis; the empirical basis consisted of grammatical descriptions of the two languages and parallel literary texts. The analysis established that German prepositions constitute the primary functional correspondence for Kyrgyz postpositions, yet this mapping is not one-to-one: a single postposition may be rendered by different prepositions depending on context, while certain grammatical meanings are expressed through adverbial or analytic constructions. It was further found that Kyrgyz auxiliary nouns, which display a three-part morphological structure (root plus possessive affix plus case affix), have no single part-of-speech equivalent in German; their spatial semantics are conveyed primarily by prepositions, and additionally by adverbs and complex prepositional phrases. The coordinating conjunction systems of the two languages showed a considerable degree of isomorphism, whereas the subordinating domain reveals a notable quantitative asymmetry: German commands a substantially richer inventory, and Kyrgyz compensates through non-finite verb forms and the conditional mood. Particles in both languages exhibited the least predictable cross-linguistic correspondences, a result attributable to their pragmatic and discourse-level nature. The findings will be of interest to researchers in contrastive linguistics and translation studies, as well as to teachers of Kyrgyz and German
