Two martensitic stainless steels of 2Cr12Ni6 type hardened and tempered at 773 K have been studied: the first with 0.2% carbon content and the second with partial replacement of carbon by nitrogen (C0.1N0.1) in the first steel. It is found that the partial substitution of carbon with nitrogen contributed to an increase in ductility and strength of the steel, presumably due to the formation of more dispersive carbonitrides. Meanwhile, the addition of nitrogen suppressed the precipitation of carbonitrides, so that the solid solution strengthening effect of C0.1N0.1 did not decrease significantly after tempering treatment. In addition, the partial replacement of carbon by nitrogen contributed to improved ability against pitting corrosion (PC) in chloride-containing medium (3.5%NaCl at 303 K). The higher resistance to PC of tempered nitrogen-containing steel is apparently due to the lower content of massive carbonitrides, especially the reduced aggregation at grain boundaries. This leads to a lower acidity and aggressiveness of the test solution near the sample surface due to the accumulation of NH4+ ammonium ions in it. As a result of nitrogen addition, exception for Cr23C6 and VC, Cr2N and (Cr, V) N type precipitates have also been found in C0.1N0.1 steel and this is consistent with the thermodynamic calculation results. In conclusion, substituting carbon by nitrogen in traditional martensitic stainless steel could realize the simultaneous improvement of multiple properties of martensitic stainless steels. This result provides a promising composition optimization route to develop novel martensitic stainless steels.
Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are uninterruptible power supplies that are widely used in domestic electrical appliances, electric vehicles, and renewable energy, military, aerospace, etc. applications. The demand for LIBs is growing, which a growing environmental concern is given the multicomponent composition of batteries and unresolved disposal issues. Environmental and resource-saving aspects require a closed recycling cycle, since batteries contain materials and their use allows reducing the carbon footprint of LIB production. The approach involving the extraction of cathode and anode materials for the subsequent recovery of valuable materials has been studied and performed. After disassembly and annealing, the chemical composition of black mass has been presented. Thermal purification as a method for the recovery of valuable metals and carbon material via the lab reactor has been proposed. This chapter is dedicated to the key aspects of sustainable development of recycling spent LIBs by recovering valuable metals and carbon material. In this chapter, the approach involving the extraction of cathode and anode materials for the subsequent recovery of valuable materials has been studied and performed. Thermal purification as a method for the recovery of valuable metals and carbon material via the lab reactor at 3000 ° C has been proposed. Regarding environmental issues, it is also important to develop a new engineering concept of an industrial purification unit based on electric supply from renewable energy sources that will significantly decrease operating costs.
Abstract The purpose of the article is to create new constructive mathematical objects for new technologies, in particular for a fundamentally new type of neural network with parallel computing, and not with the usual parallel computing through sequential computing.
The relevance of this topic is due to the high level of importance of sustainable waste management and the need for effective decision-making tools. The purpose of the article is to justify the possibility and expediency of using the life cycle assessment method in managing the logistics of municipal waste management. The research was conducted using general scientific methods of cognition: system analysis, synthesis, generalization, deduction, abstraction, concretization, and formalization.Given the results of the conducted research, the meaning, and essence of the evaluation method life cycle are highlighted. It was determined that the life cycle assessment method is possible and advisable to be used for analyzing the impact of waste on the environment, namely on the quality of the ecosystem, state of health of the population, and use of natural resources. It is noted that this method is an effective tool for ensuring the rational use of natural resources and effective management of waste, allowing optimizing the process of management of logistics of waste according to the criteria of time and cost.Separate attention is assigned to considering the process of adopting management solutions in the part of optimizing logistic processes in the system of managing municipal waste, which is outlined as a choice of one option from several possible ones.It is proposed that the method of life cycle assessment be applied by local authorities in Poland to substantiate management decisions regarding the choice of alternative options for processing, disposal, or dumping of municipal waste based on the criterion of minimizing the harmful impact on the environment.
