Das heutige Namibia befand sich zwischen den Jahren 1884 und 1915 unter deutscher Herrschaft. Mit der Gründung der Kolonie entstand u. a. der Bedarf an effizienter Kommunikationsvermittlung zwischen den Deutschen und der Lokalbevölkerung. Die ersten Bestrebungen der Kolonialverwaltung, den Deutschen sowie den Einheimischen entsprechende Sprachkenntnisse beizubringen oder eine Lingua franca einzuführen, scheiterten aus kulturellen, finanziellen sowie zeitlichen Gründen. In vielen Fällen musste die Kommunikation deswegen indirekt verlaufen, und zwar mithilfe eines Dolmetschers, dessen Einsatz sich vor allem in den Bereichen Justiz, Religion sowie Di-plomatie als unvermeidlich erwies. Der Artikel beschäftigt sich mit dem Ablauf der interkulturellen Kommunikation zwischen den Deutschen und der Lokalbevölkerung in der ehemaligen Kolonie Deutsch-Südwestafrika, wobei in Hinblick auf den Forschungsgegenstand vor allem die Frage nach der Rolle der damaligen Dolmetscher, ihren Arbeitsbedingungen sowie ihrem Sozialstatus gestellt wird.

The present article aimed, through the analysis of learning diaries, to discuss about the possibilities that a psychology university degree which promotes reflection and shelters students' thoughts and emotions can have in the training of psychology students. Were analyzed thirteen learning logs written by students of the sixth semester of an undergraduate degree course in Psychology enrolled in a discipline related to the Person Centered Approach.The logs were written based on the Sense's Version, after each class, with indication of free writing. Thematic Analysis was used, and from it six themes emerged that demonstrated the importance of building an academic context that promotes the facilitating conditions for personal and professional development. Levý’s book, published in 1957, re-edited in 1996 and in 2019-2020, may have been the earliest comprehensive study on the history of not only literary translation in a national (i.e. Czech) culture within the European context, spanning the period between the Middle Ages and 1945, and complemented by an extensive anthology of texts reflecting on period modes of translation and its roles. Levý is internationally known for his Translation as a Decision Process (1967) and The Art of Translation (1969 in German, 1972 in Russian, 2011 in English, 2013 in Spanish), however, this book is only available in Czech, except for a chapter on European Classicism and Romanticism translated into English (2012). The paper reflects on the following: (a) the topicality of the book for its readership today, (b) editorial changes in the 1996 edition, (c) the need for a new re-edition and its technicalities, incl. editorial issues.
