The University of the Visayas (UV) is a private institution located in Cebu City, Philippines. It is the first school in the province of Cebu to attain university status.
The standard cosmological analysis with the Lycx forest relies on a continuum fitting procedure that suppresses information on large scales and distorts the three-dimensional correlation function on all scales. In this work, we present the first cosmological forecasts without continuum fitting distortion in the Lycx forest, focusing on the recovery of large-scale information. Using idealized synthetic data, we compare the constraining power of the full shape of the Lycx forest auto-correlation and its cross-correlation with quasars using the baseline continuum fitting analysis versus the true continuum. We find that knowledge of the true continuum enables a similar to 10% reduction in uncertainties on the Alcock-Paczy & nacute;ski (AP) parameter and the matter density, ohm m. We also explore the impact of large-scale information by extending the analysis up to separations of 240 h-1Mpc along and across the line of sight. The combination of these analysis choices can recover significant large-scale information, yielding up to a similar to 15% improvement in AP constraints. This improvement is analogous to extending the Lycx forest survey area by similar to 40%.
This study examines how Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities influence professional behavior change and nursing autonomy among 205 staff nurses in a Level II government hospital in Surigao City, Philippines. Utilizing a descriptive-correlational design, the research assessed levels of engagement in lifelong learning and its relationship to clinical independence and professional conduct. Findings revealed that nurses demonstrate a very high level of engagement in CPD, largely driven by a strong internal motivation to improve patient care rather than mere regulatory compliance. Correspondingly, the respondents exhibited a very high extent of professional behavior change particularly in accountability and ethical practice and reported high levels of clinical autonomy. Statistical analysis identified a significant positive relationship between CPD participation and professional autonomy, suggesting that as nurses update their clinical knowledge, they gain the confidence necessary to make independent, evidence-based decisions. While overall professionalism was high, communication was noted as a relative area for development. Based on these findings, a Professional Behavior and Autonomy Enhancement Plan was proposed to institutionalize specialized training and nurse-led case presentations. Ultimately, the study concludes that consistent investment in CPD is vital for empowering an accountable and autonomous nursing workforce in resource-constrained government settings.
This quantitative study used a descriptive-correlational design to examine roster flexibility, work absence behavior, and their association with selected profile variables among 234 nurses in a government hospital during the first quarter of 2026. Standardized questionnaires were utilized, and data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square test, and Pearson r correlation. Results indicated generally high roster flexibility and responsible absence behavior among nurses, with significant relationships identified between selected variables. Roster flexibility was also found to be significantly correlated with work absence behavior. These findings underscore the importance of effective roster management in supporting workforce stability. A roster optimization and absence management enhancement plan is proposed to improve scheduling practices and promote nurse well-being.
BACKGROUND:Pregnancy-related cardiomyopathy (PRCM) is a leading cause of maternal death in the United States. PRCM symptoms often overlap with those of normal pregnancy and the lack of validated screening tools limits early recognition and contributes to diagnostic delays. Multiple artificial intelligence-enabled electrocardiogram (AI-ECG) models have been developed and validated for PRCM detection. OBJECTIVES:We sought to investigate the pooled diagnostic performance of these models. METHODS:A systematic search of PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane was performed to identify studies investigating the use of AI-ECG models for PRCM detection. Studies reporting complete 2×2 confusion matrix data for the AI-ECG model were included for analysis. Univariate and Reitsma bivariate random effects model meta-analysis was performed. Pooled performance estimates with 95% CIs are presented in forest plots and a summary receiver operating characteristics curve. RESULTS:Our search identified 716 studies (PubMed: 84, Scopus: 544, Cochrane: 88) from which 6 studies involving 2,928 patients were included in the meta-analysis. Univariate random effects model meta-analysis revealed a pooled sensitivity of 0.808 (0.656-0.902), specificity of 0.944 (0.889-0.973), and diagnostic OR of 54.017 (37.918-76.952). Following Reitsma bivariate random effects model meta-analysis, the AI-ECG models yielded a pooled sensitivity of 0.775 (0.623-0.878); specificity of 0.936 (0.871-0.969); and area under the curve of 0.932 (0.813-0.953) for PRCM detection. CONCLUSIONS:AI-ECG models demonstrate good performance for PRCM detection and may represent a promising adjunct for earlier identification of PRCM. Additional studies are needed to evaluate their impact on clinical outcomes in pragmatic settings.
