The objective of this article is to explore the possibilities of sensitive academic writing in pedagogical and educational research works. We understand sensitive academic writing as a first-person narrative, which, from the perspective of care, allows expressing the affectivity generated in research experiences. We review, based on discourse analysis, some fragments produced by postgraduate students in their training process as educational researchers. We adopted an exploratory qualitative approach and employed discourse analysis guided by an ethnographic perspective. The results allow us to argue the importance of promoting academic thinking and writing that recognizes the place of the authors, their identity reconfigurations and their emotions to enrich their training as researchers, and scaffold their formation of an authorial voice. We propose the generation of sensitive academic writing as a strategy for the training of postgraduate students.
In these lines I propose an exercise in “reflexivity” (Guber, 2004) of my socio-anthropological research experience on identity narratives around processes of agricultural business advancement in rural territories. The research problem is based on the experience of “Our United Farms”, a community work group of small producer families in the Pampa de Pocho (Traslasierra, Córdoba, Argentina). To recognize obstacles and enablers of the point of view from which I approach the problem, I propose a dialogue between scenes reconstructed from participant observations and interviews with members of the organization and authors who make contributions around the “affective turn”, feminist theory and care. I propose three questions that trigger reflections on what I made invisible and on the incorporating of new dimensions and perspectives that allow us to open our gaze. The first question refers to the invisibility of actions as political because they belong to the private sphere. The second invites us to think about the unequal conditions of access for participation in certain forms of protest and identity implications. The third one, avoiding an essentialist perspective of emotions, recognizes their importance to interrogate the actions and inactions of subjects, understanding that affects do not work in a single direction.
In this work, certain emerging conflicts in La Rioja are problematized, to address the prevalence of Peronism in the province and understand the social dynamics that were deployed in the process of expanding new rights. Particularly, emphasis is placed on the issue of water, as an unavoidable social conflict in the analysis of citizenship, focusing on the condition of possibility of identity ties between subjects and the experience of Peronism. The objective of this work is to analyze the citizen identity processes, marked by the scarcity of water in La Rioja during the first Peronism. Methodologically, this work analyzes petition letters demanding for new social rights addressed to state authority figures, in order to assess their content in identity terms. This Study focuses on a letter written by a woman from Rioja, where a demand for public water works is expressed. This source is incorporated into the analysis, petitions and opinion articles published in La Rioja written press. In this way, problematization is proposed as a method to rethink the processes of expanding subjects’ identity as citizens in situated contexts. This work contributes to the reflections on the expansion of citizenship in our country, recovering a certain conflictive nature and from an identity perspective on the demands for new rights. Moreover, it results in the discussion on the construction of citizenship processes from bottom up and with a situated character.
The aim of this article is to review a number of theoretical and analytical contributions elaborated by Michel Foucault and Robert Castel, essential classics when it comes to studying the birth of the psychiatric order in modernity. We propose a brief conceptual review motivated by the question of the place that mental health hospitals have in the scheme of government in this field today. In order to do so, a series of key notions from Foucault's and Castel's toolboxes are considered, in the order to answer our question: dispositif, technology, functional overdetermination and strategic infilling (Foucault, 1991a; 2007a; 2007b; 2014), and metamorphosis, displacement and aggiornamento (Castel, 1997; 2009). As a corollary, a situated reading is attempted on the role of psychiatric institutions in the city of Rosario, Argentina through a particular configuration that argues for hospitalization decisions: that of the patient seen as monovalent. Its main contribution lies in the systematization of theoretical developments that provide substantive insights for addressing contemporary challenges related to the transformation of mental health approaches, from a substitutive perspective regarding monovalent hospitals.
This article explores gamification in service applications, particularly in dating apps. The methodology consisted of 20 in-depth interviews conducted with young adults from the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. Also, observations and analysis of interfaces and 2000 profiles on dating apps were carried out. Based on the review of the state of the art and fieldwork, evidence, reflection, and analysis are provided around the gamification strategies implemented by dating apps such as Tinder, Bumble, Happn, and Okcupid. Among the results, it is argued that these contact technologies, through the use of an expanded range of gamification —such as swiping, likes, superlikes, colors, sounds, celebrations, emojis, stickers, games, chaining of contacts and contents— retain millions of users through a high level of attachment, and modulate part of contemporary affectivity.
The aim of this paper is to investigate the history of nasal plastic surgery in Argentina in the first half of the twentieth century. In order to do so, I resort to expert and popular medical publications, as well as some publications in graphic media on the subject. The first section is devoted to show the relevance that reconstructive surgery of the nose assumed in the origins of the specialty at national and international level. The second one shows the centrality assumed by the international diffusion of endonasal rhinoplasty as a condition of possibility for the expansion of cosmetic nasal surgeries in our country. In the two closing sections, I inquire into the justifications used by plastic surgeons to confer legitimacy to such cosmetic interventions. The first one explores the psychological justifications, which show the subjective suffering of “defective” patients and the capacity of cosmetic surgery to effectively solve these conflicts. The second analyzes the economic justifications, centered on the employment problems resulting from aesthetic “defects”. To exemplify this point, I focus on cosmetic rhinoplasties performed on movie actors and actresses. This article aims to make an original contribution by addressing an issue that has not been investigated from a historical perspective in Argentina.
This article aims to analyze the notions of death, mourning and phantasmagoria present in political philosophy and gender studies in the light of the artistic production of the artist Juan Ramón Gutierrez from Corrientes, Argentina. In the territory of the artistic practices of northeastern Argentina, conceptualizations around death are present through a wide repertory of artistic works where acts of memory, remembrance and inheritance acquire fundamental relevance. These themes were approached by Juan Ramón Gutierrez with remarkable insistence from different materialities, supports and aesthetics choices, especially in the installations he developed in the nineties when, moved by the AIDS pandemic, he produced a series of altars and drawings that make the work of mourning a form of poetic justice. Two of his installations made in the 1990s in the United States will be analyzed, particularly his installations Altar Dedicado a Los Muertos de Sida (1994) and Cuartos Para los Muertos (1999) presented at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (MCCLA) in San Francisco.

The fieldwork of this research, still in process, was carried out from 2013 to 2015 in Buenos Aires and since 2018 in Misiones with the Provincial Police. Using qualitative methodology, with contributions from studies in communication, semiotics and gender, we set out to investigate police practices and part of the judicial actions to study narratives that account for the crime of sexual violence towards children. From communication and semiotics we take the category of narratives to study the stories of sexual abuse and from gender studies the category of experience to investigate the event experienced. The objective is to analyze the transition from the experience of sexual violence (sexual abuse, rape and cybercrimes such as grooming and sexual materials involving children) to a functional and useful institutional narrative for the purposes of resolving the legal conflict.

A reading of the extant fragments of Menander's comedy Aspis ('The Shield') allows us to explore the presentation and enactment of a plan consisting of faking the death of the character of Chaerestratus in order to divert the interest of the old man Smicrines in marrying the sister of the soldier Cleostratus, allegedly killed in battle (vv. 329-490). The interpretation of this passage in an emotional key shows the ways in which the simulation game is configured, constituting in my view one of the central strategies of metatheatricality in the play. In particular, I will pay attention here to the fakeness of those emotions inherent in the funeral lament, since by means of the illusory mourning a complex elaboration of simulated grief is achieved. This stands as an appropriate strategy if we compare it with the artificiality of the fictional dimension inherent to the comic texture, and which is also perceived in the conventional nature of law embedded in the play. In contrast to the enactment of these simulations, Aspis enshrines a 'true' affective script determined by the appropriate manifestations of the civic pathos.
