The teacher’s discursive practice is constituted in the dialogical relationships among subjects in real situations of language use, which, according to Mikhail Bakhtin ([1977] 2011), materialize in the production of concrete utterances. In the context of Portuguese Language (PL) teaching, these processes are shaped by specific modes of teacher subjectivation, intensified in the Digital Age. Considering that spaces of interaction may be (re)oriented by unexpected events, such as the covid-19 pandemic, this study is grounded in the assumptions of the Bakhtin Circle, according to which the subject is discursively constituted in and through interaction by means of concrete utterances. From this perspective, we pose and substantiate the following research question: how does the Portuguese Language teacher, in the digital classroom, constitute themselves responsively within the dialogical relations of the teaching–learning process? In light of the Bakhtinian dialogical perspective, we investigate how discourse genres that emerge in the virtual classroom materialize relations of responsiveness, as well as the discursive processes articulated with forms of expression characteristic of the digital space. To this end, we adopt Dialogical Discourse Analysis (DDA) to construct and analyze a corpus produced during the pandemic period. The discussion, therefore, focuses on the teaching dimension, considering the discourse genres that shape the pedagogical relationship in the digital context.
This article analyzes the performance of Recife’s mayor, João Campos, in his Instagram posts, focusing on the adoption of the “nevou” aesthetic during the 2024 Carnival. The study investigates how this enactment, initiated by the challenge of singer Anderson Neiff and amplified by artists such as MC Elvis, contributed to the construction of a political persona that appropriates cultural codes of the periphery and strategies typical of digital influencers. The analysis draws on Taylor (2013) and Carlson (2010) to understand the strategic dimension of performance and its ability to mobilize emotions and audience identification; on Martino (2014) to discuss the logic of webcelebrities and fandom; on Manovich (2001) to examine the concepts of variability and flow in digital media; and on Goffman (1985) to explore impression management processes. Methodologically, the study combines qualitative content analysis with guidelines for digital platform methods (Maia; Orlandini; Oliveira, 2022), encompassing visual, textual, and engagement metrics. The results show that João Campos’s digital performance represented a significant transformation of his public image, turning an aesthetic gesture into a strategy of cultural mediation and consolidating his popularity through the validation of Recife’s cultural figures and the massive engagement of followers. The research also reveals how, even as a staged performance, João Campos acts as a cultural mediator, bringing visibility to peripheral movements for a broader audience, while depending on validation from local actors to sustain his “maloca da periferia” persona in communities.
In this approach, we understand that the discourses of cancel culture are symptomatic of the upheaval that the digital order has brought to the processes of subjectivation, emerging in a socio-historically situated time and space affected by contemporary capitalism, which operates through the mediatization of life on social networks. In this direction, we seek to make explicit the functioning of ideological affiliations—that is, the effect of alignment of meanings within a given chain of signification—a relation that guides the meanings of cancel culture in digital circulation, specifically on the website Dicionário Informal. To this end, we adopt as our theoretical-methodological horizon the framework of Materialist Discourse Analysis, which allows us to produce interpretive gestures about the term cancel culture within production conditions where power relations are organized through circulation. Methodologically, we follow these steps: (1) description and interpretation of the registration process on the Dicionário Informal website, aiming to make explicit the movement from the position of user to that of subject-lexicographer; (2) mobilization of the gesture of selecting and analyzing the definition produced by the user-subject @Antonio Aquino, exposing the fragility of authorship; and (3) comprehension of the entanglement effects from which senses emerge, reaching the ideological dimension. From this trajectory, we point out that the discursivization of cancel culture analyzed here reveals the fractures of a divided society marked by intolerance, reaffirming the need to produce intelligibility regarding current discursive conditions—through gestures that take responsibility for the consequences of the notions of language and subject implicated in a materialist discourse analysis.
Literary experiments with algorithmic writing, which characterise the contemporary digital discourse, descend from a long line of generative retroactions between reading and writing acts, whose distant origins date back to the medieval and the early modern period, with more direct origins in twentieth-century avant-garde movements of the 1920s and the beat generation of William Burroughs, for whom all writing was in fact cut-ups; a collage of words read, (over)heard. This collaborative sense of authorship has been especially appealing to the digital sensibility of recent decades, as more writers turn to computational tools to automatically recombine existing sources and generate probabilistic texts, with or without the subjective input of human composition. More recently, there has also been accelerated progress towards processing a type of Artificial Creative Intelligence, in which men and machines collaborate closely, disrupting romantic notions of authorship, legally anchored in the thresholds of originality. The present article addresses epistemic concerns arising from debates in the international literary scene about generative AI, integrating these discussions into a broader historical perspective on the ongoing conceptual transformations of authorship.
This article aims to analyze the discursive practices and modes of enunciation appropriated by the BookTok community to produce and circulate meanings about the contemporary reading subject in digital environments. The theoretical framework is grounded in Foucaultian Discourse Studies, particularly in the power/knowledge relations (Foucault, 2013, 2014a, 2014b, among others), which provide analytical tools for understanding how discourse participates in the production of subjectivities and in the regulation of behaviors in networked spaces. The discussion focuses on how, within current conditions of enunciability, specific mechanisms and technologies of subjectivation operate in the constitution of the individual who reads, shares, and interacts constantly within algorithmically structured social media platforms. The research adopts a qualitative and interpretative perspective, mobilizing an archaeogenealogical method to analyze a corpus composed of an audiovisual utterance and its articulation with other utterances that circulate under discursive regularities characteristic of digital culture. The study highlights the central role of the internet in the formation and normalization of readers’ subjectivities, who begin to perform reading habits as identity markers and as strategies of belonging to online communities. Such performativities are anchored in neoliberal and accelerationist logics, marked by speed, quantification of pages read, and the constant search for legitimation within visible, comparable, and metricized forms of recognition. Consequently, reading tends to lose its aesthetic and reflective dimension, becoming entangled with dynamics of visibility, self-promotion, and affective validation.
This study addresses the rise and effectiveness of new-right discourses, which, exemplified by the actions of Federal Congressman Nikolas Ferreira (PL/MG), contribute to the polarization and weakening of democratic institutions. It assumes that the congressman deliberately uses strategies of moral panic and conspiratorial rhetoric, enhanced by digital platforms, to mobilize political sentiment. For methodological purposes, this is a case study using Critical Discourse Analysis (Fairclough, 2001; 2003) applied to a selection of videos published by the congressman on TikTok. It is observed that Nikolas effectively articulates narratives of “culture war” to create a moral divide and demonize opponents. Thus, TikTok acts as a catalyst, amplifying emotional and viral messages that spread fear. It has been demonstrated that this rhetoric is not only virtual but also underpins practices that threaten the security of institutions, converting online mobilization into tangible risks to Brazilian democracy.
This article analyzes the literature in cyberspace, beginning with the transition from verbal hypertext to image-based hypertexts and QR stories. This qualitative study is based on a literature review and interpretive analysis of selected texts. Therefore, the first part of the development discusses image-based hypertexts as an evolution of verbal hypertexts, emphasizing the replacement of words with images and valuing interactive reading. The second section discusses the post-hypertextual experience and performative reading made possible by QR stories, which encode short but impactful narratives. This study considers the concepts of these theorists: Wolfgang Iser, who understands reading as a game and emphasizes the importance of challenging the reader with unconventional structures; George Landow, who analyzes the effects and characteristics of hypertextual structure; Henry Jenkins's concepts of media convergence; Lucia Santaella and her perspective on multisensory and cyberliterature; Katherine Hayles, who analyzes reading as a practice embedded in technological systems; and Ramon Tessmann, who defines cyberspace as an environment conducive to experimentation and the speed of digital technology. The study discusses the influence of cyberliterature in redefining the role of the reader, who becomes discoverer and co-author of the work. To demonstrate this, the interactivity and synthesis typical of QR stories are highlighted, which relate to the connective and rhizomatic logic of hypertext. Thus, it is argued that both texts establish a new dynamic of reading that combines language, technology, and body. Consequently, these texts expand the reach of literature and propose new forms of presence, authorship, and reading, challenging the standards of creative writing and consolidating digital literature as aesthetic-critical experimentation.
Affirmative action policies aim to address historical inequalities and promote the inclusion of socially marginalized groups, such as the Black population, through measures like university admission quotas. However, their adoption still raises controversies in the public sphere (Munanga, 2001; Silva, 2020). In this context, the present study seeks to investigate how actors form alliances to defend policy proposals related to racial quotas and to criticize alternative proposals, analyzing how this dynamic contributes to the polarization of the debate. The corpus consists of an interaction on Reddit concerning a real case of racial quotas at the University of S & atilde;o Paulo (USP) in 2024, collected on April 1, 2024. The study is grounded in theoretical frameworks on polylogal argumentative interactions (Aakhus & Lewi & nacute;ski, 2017; Mohammed, 2018) occurring in digital spaces (Azevedo, Gon & ccedil;alves-Segundo & Piris, 2021; Gon & ccedil;alves-Segundo, 2025b; Massanari, 2015), including argument construction (Gon & ccedil;alves-Segundo, 2024) and agreement establishment (Perelman & Olbrechts-Tyteca, 2005 [1958]; Gon & ccedil;alves-Segundo, 2025a) aimed at defending shared courses of action (Gon & ccedil;alves-Segundo, 2025a) within alliances formed among participants in the interaction (Bruxelles & Kerbrat-Orecchioni, 2004), under an integrative perspective of argumentation (Goncalves-Segundo, 2020, 2025a). The results indicate that alliances in favor of racial quotas are grounded in agreements based on justifications related to historical reparation and the fight against structural racism, whereas opposing alliances question their legitimacy and defend socioeconomic quotas as an alternative course of action.

This article aims to analyze an audiovisual campaign by the brand TRESemm & eacute; published on Instagram, focusing on the description and examination of linguistic and technodiscursive resources mobilized in the constitution of (techno)discourse objects in the video and their relationship with coherence and argumentativity in digital environments. The study adopts a qualitative and analytical-interpretative approach and is grounded in Textual Linguistics (Cavalcante et al., 2014; 2020; 2022; Marcuschi, 2007; 2008; Mondada, 2002), specifically addressing the notions of referentiation and coherence; in the Theory of Argumentation in Discourse (Amossy, 2011, 2020[2005]); and in Digital Discourse Analysis (Paveau, 2020; 2021), with emphasis on the notions of amplification, deslinearization, relationality, and composition. The corpus comprises a video published in two parts on the brand's profile, as well as five user comments on the post. The analysis shows that meaning is constructed through the articulation of language, image, and technical features of the platform, such as profile tagging and comment structure. Referents related to public figures are strategically recategorized to support evaluative contrasts that guide persuasion, even under the appearance of diversity. It is concluded that referentiation, coherence, and argumentativity are interdependent effects mediated by the conditions of digital circulation, and that the categories of Textual Linguistics, when articulated with technodiscursivity, prove effective for understanding contemporary communicative practices.
