A pronounced antianemic effect of water-soluble Na,Ca,Fe-polygalacturonate is demonstrated. The drug in solution is more effective than in the solid form; it promotes absorption of nutrient calcium and iron. During this treatment, consumed calcium does not impair iron absorption.
The antianemic activity of water-soluble polymetallocomplexes (PMCs) of pectin polysaccharides containingd-metal ions (Fe2+, Co2+, Cu2+) in various ratios was studied in experiments on rats. It is established that PMCs produce a significant stimulating action on the hemopoietic processes, which is manifested by increasing the hemoglobin level and the erythrocyte number and by accelerating the restoration of hematological indices after the model anemia caused by hemorrhage. The most pronounced effect on the hematological indices was observed for a PMC containing Fe2+, Co2+, and Cu2+ ions in a ratio close to 1:1:1.
