We studied the role of hydrogen peroxide in the response of tumor cells to treatment with ozonated culture medium. Changes of the level of hydrogen peroxide in tumor cells incubated in ozonated medium were detected by using fluorescence microscopy and genetically-encoded sensor HyPer2. Modifications of fluorescent properties of the sensor reflecting accumulation of hydrogen peroxide in the cell cytoplasm were detected within 70 min from the start of exposure. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide continued to increase until 375 min. The revealed changes support the involvement of hydrogen peroxide in the cell response to ozone treatment.
The aim of the investigation was to study the effect of isolated and combined action of ozone-oxygen mixture and doxorubicin on the viability and morphology of normal and malignant human hepatic cells. Material and Methods. The culture of normal (Chang liver) and malignant (SK-HEP-1) human liver cells were used in the study. Doxorubicin and ozone-oxygen gas mixture were introduced to the culture medium for cell growth. Viability was tested by reduction of MTT tetrazole salts. Morphological investigations were carried out 48 h after the replacement of the cultural medium using DMIL HC inverted microscope (Germany). Results. Doxorubicin possesses the highest cytotoxicity relative to both normal and malignant human hepatic cells. Ozone alone and in combination with doxorubicin also exerts a marked cytotoxic effect on the viability of the cells and results in irreversible consequences for the structure of the cell elements. The results obtained can be used for selection of ozone doses and ways of ozone introduction in various tumor localizations.
Article is written in sections of theoretical and practical oncology and devoted to recurrent and metastatic tumors. As the main predictive criterion for recurrent and metastatic tumors authors chose the speed of their growth. Efficiency of chemotherapeutic treatment is estimated in respect of its influence kinetics of growth of tumors. With application of morphometric techniques the structure of five different types of recurrent and metastatic tumors is investigated. Authors developed original model of tumoral growth. On the basis of model the computer program allowing to count kinetic parameters of growth of a tumor is created. The chemotherapy effectiveness ratio received by comparison of growth rates of tumors of the patients who were receiving and not receiving chemotherapy is offered. It is analyzed changes of effectiveness ratio of chemotherapy at various combinations of kinetic parameters.

Article is written in the section of theoretical oncology and devoted to a problem of kinetics of tumoral growth. In this article authors investigate influence of such parameters as mitotic activity of a tumor, cellular losses, time of doubling of a tumor for survival of patients with recurrent and metastatic tumors. 130 patients with malignant new growths of five main localizations are investigated: sarcomas of soft fabrics, colorectal cancer, skin melanomas, breast cancer, squamous cell cancer of the head and neck. On the basis of data of a morphometry of biopsiyny material by means of the computer program developed by us modeling of tumoral growth was carried out. The correlation analysis between kinetic parameters of growth and terms of survival of patients was carried out. Besides efficiency of chemotherapeutic treatment of patients with various structure of tumors was analyzed.
Photodynamic therapy is a promising method for the treatment of tumors with a broad potential of clinical and research applications. The possibility to combine the diagnostic and therapeutic options is of particular note that can significantly improve treatment efficiency. However, it is important to consider carefully the issues of service organization for the photodynamic therapy. Specialists’ inadequate education, incomplete service ensuring with medical and diagnostic equipment and non-compliance of treatment protocols can lead to a significant deterioration in the results and discredit the method.
The aim of the investigation is to evaluate the tolerance of patients with advanced gastric cancer to extended D2 lymphodissection and its effect on the postoperative period. Materials and methods. The background of the research is the clinical observation of 288 patients within the age of 33 to 77 with morphologically verified stomach cancer. The 1st group (n=141) underwent the surgical treatment with lymphodissection D1 or D1+7, and the 2nd group (n=147) the surgical treatment with lymphodissection D2. Conclusion. With relevant experience and appropriate accompanying therapy, extended lymphodissection is well tolerated and safe. Increase in time of surgical treatment, the amount of blood loss and lymphorrhea, a slight increase in the frequency of postoperative pancreatitis are not fatal and do not lead to an increase in severe complications, such as lack of anastomosis, intraabdominal abscess and peritonitis. D2 lymphodissection does not result in an increase of postoperative mortality. Such volumes of surgical treatment can be performed in a standard oncologic dispensary.
