Background: Inclusive education has become a global priority, emphasizing equitable learning access for all children regardless of ability or background. However, many schools, including Islamic elementary schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) in Indonesia, continue to face barriers stemming from limited teacher preparedness, unsupportive environments, and cultural resistance. These challenges highlight the need for leadership models that can transform inclusive policy into daily practice. Objective: This study aims to explore and develop a practical leadership model that strengthens inclusive school culture in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Indramayu, Indonesia. The model is positioned as a response to both global calls for inclusion and the local need to integrate inclusive values with Islamic educational principles. Method: Employing a qualitative multiple-case study combined with a design-based research (DBR) approach, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, classroom observations, and document analysis. Participants consisted of school principals, teachers, and parents, ensuring triangulation and comprehensive perspectives throughout all DBR cycles of analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, and refinement. Results:The study found that principals play a central role in demonstrating inclusive values through daily behavior, mentoring teachers, and encouraging collaboration with families and communities. Leadership practices such as participatory decision-making, adaptive policy enactment, and community engagement contributed significantly to the development of inclusive culture. Yet, practical challenges remained, including inadequate resources, limited training access, and varying levels of parental acceptance. Conclusion and Contribution: The research proposes an applicative leadership framework that merges participatory and adaptive leadership with Islamic moral grounding, providing a culturally relevant approach to inclusion. By linking the visionary dimension of transformational leadership with the contextual responsiveness of practical leadership, the framework offers a bridge between inclusive ideals and everyday educational realities in faith-based primary schools.

The study employed descriptive qualitative method, with data collection using interviews and questionnaires. The data gathered were subsequently subjected from nine leaders of boarding at Cirebon and five leaders of public schools at Cirebon, Indramayu, Kuningan, Majalengka, to qualitative descriptive analysis. The research conclusion is that principals act as leaders and managers, and their associated practices are comprised of various indicators, including inspiration-based situational (situational leader behaviour but relies on inspiration), collective non-structural, senior structured, and sacred-based managerial (managerial based on the sacred). The impact of this study contributes to scientific knowledge about integrating management and leadership roles in decision theories. However, the study is limited by its focus on a specific geographic region, which may affect the generalizability of the findings.

This study aims to examine the influence of classroom discipline and work environment on the performance of Madrasah Tsanawiyah teachers, while developing the conceptual Discipline–Environment Symbiosis Model (DESM) within the context of Islamic education. Employing a convergent mixed-methods design, quantitative data were collected from 210 teachers using standardized questionnaires and analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Qualitative data were obtained via in-depth interviews and thematically analyzed. Quantitative findings indicate that both classroom discipline and the work environment have a significant positive effect on teacher performance (p < 0.05), with classroom discipline having the most significant impact. Qualitative insights reveal that procedural consistency, collegial support, and alignment with Islamic values are key factors in enhancing performance. The integration of both data strands resulted in the DESM, which emphasizes the synergy between effective classroom management and a supportive work environment as prerequisites for successful teaching and learning. This model offers theoretical contributions to value-based educational management and practical implications for policymakers and school leaders in designing interventions to improve teacher performance. Future research is recommended to test the DESM across different educational levels and cultural contexts to broaden its external validity.

The Constitutional Court Decision No. 28/PUU-XI/2013 annulled Act No. 17 of 2012 on Cooperatives for contradicting the 1945 Constitution and reinstated Act No. 25 of 1992. This study compares the cooperative legal frameworks of Indonesia, the United States, Sweden, South Korea, and India to analyze their legal foundations, identify regulatory weaknesses, and propose reforms based on the Dignified Justice framework. Using a normative juridical method with qualitative analysis of laws and court rulings, this research is grounded in Hatta’s cooperative philosophy and Prasetyo’s theory of Dignified Justice as the grand theory, Sukardi’s framework as the middle-range theory, and Indonesia’s cooperative regulations as the applied theory. The findings indicate that cooperative laws across the five countries reflect principles of justice, solidarity, and social responsibility. Applying Dignified Justice highlights how legal definitions, governance structures, and enforcement mechanisms uphold or undermine member dignity and legal certainty. In Indonesia, Act No. 25 of 1992 still contains legal gaps in definitions, membership, capital, and sanctions, leading to uncertainty and institutional stagnation. Therefore, cooperative law reform grounded in Dignified Justice is essential to align with constitutional and Pancasila values, ensuring a more inclusive and dignified national development.
