The covalent nature of the bond between a reactive dye and the cellulose molecule has been proved by means of microbiological degradation of the dyed cellulose and identification of glucose in the hydrolysate of a dyed soluble degradation product.

The iron containing antibiotics Ferrimycin A1 and A2 have been isolated from culture fluids of a strain of Streptomyces griseoflavus. Their physical and chemical properties are described.
AbstractIsolation and properties of the ferrioxamines A, B, C, D1, D2, E and F, iron containing growth factors belonging to the group of the sideramines, are described.
A new group of iron-containing metabolites, with growth stimulating properties for a number of microorganisms, has been isolated from streptomycetes and namedferrioxamines. It is proposed to include them, together with some known substances, like ferrichrome, coprogen and the terregens factor, which either contain or bind iron, in a new class of growth factors, thesideramines.

In their work,R. Heim andR. G. Wasson have reported on the ‘Myco-Ethnology’ of hallucinogenic mushrooms in Mexico. Further attention was paid to the taxonomy of different species of these mushrooms belonging to the genera Psilocybe, Stropharia etc. Data on the elucidation and synthesis of the active principle, Psilocybin, a new indole derivate, are given.
