FESC University (officially in Spanish: Fundación de Estudios Superiores Comfanorte, «Comfanorte Higher Studies Foundation») commonly known simply as FESC, is a private Colombian university with the legal form of foundation, with a high level of development and forged for the benefit of the formation of the people of Norte de Santander and the Colombian people, subject to inspection and monitoring by Law 1740 of 2014 and Law 30 of 1992 of the Ministry of Education of Colombia. Its headquarters are located in the city of Cúcuta, Norte de Santander and has a headquarters in the municipality of Ocaña. It was founded on 25 August 1993, but began its academic activities on 1 August 1995.Its main headquarters has a modern campus equipped with infrastructures for academic life, in addition to being the headquarters of various research groups. It also has multiple agreements, alliances and institutional networks with national higher education centres and universities. Just as it has several inter-institutional agreements with universities in Mexico, Argentina, Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, China, among other countries. Given its growth, the institution offers 8 undergraduate programs, 44 diploma programs, 2 specializations and 7 master's degrees, for a total of 61 academic programs.
The fundamental purpose of this project is to develop a model to analyze and understand the reasons behind academic dropout rates at the ITM School of Engineering. To achieve this, dashboards will be implemented to simplify decision-making at the institutional level. The process is structured in several phases, beginning with an exploratory analysis where statistically significant variables are identified. The dashboard is then constructed, where the results are presented in a precise and understandable manner using graphs, tables, and visualizations. The results of the exploratory analysis reveal variables such as age, stratum, level, seniority, PP, and origin, which are correlated with academic status. These findings are fundamental to understanding behavioral patterns and factors influencing student dropout rates. The next step involves implementing a machine learning model, where six key variables are used for its design and training. Seniority, age, and level are identified as crucial variables in predicting academic status. Model performance is anticipated to improve with the addition of more data, and exploration of new variables to enhance predictions is suggested. In conclusion, this project offers a comprehensive approach that combines statistical analysis and machine learning models to understand and prevent academic dropout.
Personal financial planning is important and crucial for maintaining control over income and expenses, creating an emergency fund, achieving financial goals, optimizing resources, reducing debt, encouraging investments, and improving financial literacy. This provides stability, security, and facilitates the achievement of short- and long-term financial goals. For this article, sources such as Google Scholar and Scielo were reviewed using a documentary design. This research discusses how to carry out successful personal financial planning, covering topics such as investing, which helps maintain the value of money against inflation and generate additional income, a tool for perseverance and increasing wealth. Savings, which allows for financial security and achieving goals. Financial management, which provides control over income and expenses and aids in strategic decisions. Debt management allows us to minimize costs and maintain a good credit score. All of these aspects are important for maintaining sound personal finances, free from errors that could be detrimental to one's income, and for maintaining a healthy financial life and preparing for emergencies. Results: The research also addresses financial security, which is achieved with a stable income, spending less than you earn, avoiding debt, and setting financial goals. Controlling your finances, supporting decisions, and measuring financial performance guides you toward the efficient use of resources, protecting your assets, and ensuring the economic viability to achieve your financial goals and live a more peaceful and financially secure life.
The lack of financial education and its importance for today's youth, as well as the consequences of over-indebtedness and the lack of financial education programs, are identified through bibliographic and documented research by several authors in Google Scholar, the journal Convicciones, Scielo, and economics journals. It is identified that few young people have the opportunity to pursue financial education. The worrying lack of financial culture leads to making inappropriate economic decisions and uncontrolled debt. However, we describe the importance of teaching young people to differentiate between needs and desires, controlling their emotions to avoid impulsive financial decisions. We believe that financial education should be integrated as an educational method in schools, teaching basic concepts such as income, expenses, savings, and investment, as well as promoting skills for making smart decisions throughout their financial lives. Schools and families play a very important role in educating students and children with extracurricular programs that provide our youth with knowledge and real-life skills in financial education. Good, comprehensive financial education addresses not only technical aspects but also emotional ones. This involves preparing young people to make informed and responsible financial decisions in the future. It also involves implementing a savings and investment model to foster a financial strategy, resulting in young people developing both professional and personal skills. Financial education is key to fostering this culture.
Leachate treatment is a crucial process for waste management, these highly polluting liquids contain humic acids, ammonia nitrogen, heavy metals and inorganic salts. Common treatment methods include clay sedimentation, reverse osmosis, natural evaporation and forced evaporation. To evaluate the most common methods of leachate treatment and develop an experimental forced evaporation system for the reduction of the volume of these wastes, improving the efficiency of the process using controlled thermal energy and real time monitoring systems. A review of the main leachate treatment methods, including reverse osmosis, clay sedimentation, natural evaporation and forced evaporation, is carried out. Then, an experimental prototype based on forced evaporation is designed and built, which has triangular glass and metal domes inclined at 45°, a flow regulation system with valves and a thermal generation system with 100 °C resistors. Data acquisition is managed by an ESP32 and K-type temperature sensors with Max6675 converters, sending real-time information to the ThingSpeak platform. Experimental tests were carried out with a flow rate of 0.22 ml/sec during 9 hours per day, monitoring solar radiation, temperature and relative humidity. It is determined that forced evaporation significantly increases the efficiency of the process, reducing the volume of leachate by 90%. The peak solar hour is identified between 12:00 and 13:00 hours, with a radiation of more than 900 W/m². The leachate in the reservoir reaches temperatures of 38 to 39 °C, while, in the main dome, phase change is ensured from the injection of thermal energy. Forced evaporation is an efficient alternative for leachate volume reduction, overcoming the limitations of natural evaporation in terms of climate dependence and space requirements. The design of the experimental prototype proved to be functional, facilitating flow regulation and controlled application of thermal energy.
