The Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy is one of the leading educational institutions in the military education system of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, founded originally in 1899 as a school of infantry cadets. It is engaged in the training of future officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The aim of the article is to empirically measure the possibilities of using virtual simulations to train engineering troops to work in the field. A set of test methods was used for diagnostics, as well as observation and formative experiment. Similar dynamics of the levels of activity and cognitive components of readiness for work in the field were revealed in the experimental group (EG) and control group (CG). In both groups, the significance indicators of the Wilcoxon test are at p=0.01 (T=211; T=198; T=201; T=209). Simulation training proved to be quite effective in stabilizing risk-taking and anxiety among engineering troops, which is confirmed by Wilcoxon tests at p=0.01 (T=178; T=169). No significant differences were found in the dynamics of the teamwork skills (T=196; T=181). Indicators of the ability to adhere to the norms of professional ethics did not change in both groups (T=299; T=309). Therefore, the positive psychological role of virtual simulators for the readiness to work in the field can be stated. The obtained results determine the foundation for optimizing the strategies and tactics of military training for work in the field, taking into account the capabilities of the modern information environment.
Poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) is a well-known pH-responsive polymer with under-explored temperature-responsive properties. This study investigated the temperature-responsive properties of PMAA-grafted brush coatings, synthesized via the SI-ATRP polymerization of sodium methacrylate (NaMAA) and methacrylic acid (MAA) on glass surfaces. Distinct water contact angles were observed for PMAA brush coatings fabricated from NaMAA (38 deg) and MAA (60 deg) solutions. The reduced wettability of PMAA brushes from MAA indicates a reduced exposure of the hydrophilic moieties acquired during synthesis, which is postulated to occur with a lower grafting density. PMAA brush coatings showed a lower critical solution temperature (LCST), characterized by changes in wettability and thickness; however, this transition was not observed after immersion in various pH buffer solutions. Although inhibited growth of cells cultured on PMAA brushes was previously reported, we observed that the increased hydrophobicity of PMAA coatings from MAA resulted in excellent biocompatibility, demonstrated by growth and viability of dermal fibroblast cultures, making them prospective for biomedical applications. However, the LCST transition of these coatings did not induce temperature-controlled changes in protein (BSA) adsorption and cell (fibroblast) morphology.
Relations between the topological charge l of the optical vortex and the topological strengths of the nematic defect generating it are discussed. A voltage-driven effect switching the optical vortex charge from 1l1 = 1 to 1l1 = 2 for a nematic cell assembled from substrates providing circular and linear planar alignment of the nematic director is reported. The switching of the optical vortex charge is evidenced by the transformations of two into four extinction brushes in the optical polarization texture and of the single-spiral into the double-spiral pattern in the Mach-Zehnder interferograms.
The purpose of the research. The author set himself the aim of researching and revealing the creation of the first Russian private military and security companies at the end of the 1990s, as a modern mercenarism phenomenon of previous generations. The research methodology is based on the general scientific principles of objectivity, systematicity and historicism. In the research there have been used general scientific methods: logical, analysis, synthesis, periodization and the others, as well as special methods of historical research: historical and genetic, historical and comparative, chronological. The scientific novelty of the obtained results consists in the comprehensive analysis of the creation process of the first private military and private security companies in the Russian Federation from the end of the 1990s to the beginning of the 2000s, their tasks, geography of activity, peculiarities of training and motivation of mercenaries. Conclusions. After analyzing the recent research and publications, it has been determined that the first among Russian private military and security companies at the end of the 1990s there were established "Orel-Antiterror", "RIK", "Ferax", Moran Security Group, "RSB-Groupp", Vega, "Slavyansky Corps" and "Wagner". Private military and security companies became a very promising and attractive business. In fact, they became a tool in the hands of pro-government Russian oligarchic groups to satisfy their business interests both domestically and abroad. The emergnce of such structures has significantly expanded the ability of the Russian Federation to project its influence through military means in different regions of the world, in particular in Ukraine since 2014 and since 2015 in Syria, using hybrid influence and methods that the state cannot officially use. Private military companies were controlled by the Russian special services and staffed mainly by ex-servicemen from various power bodies and who had combat experience. Training of mercenaries was carried out in training centres and on military training grounds. Open or covert support of mercenaries, in particular financial, was provided by the state. The motivational factor for mercenaries was financial mainly.
