The curriculum applicability, content quality, language use, and integration with literacy-based learning of Indonesian language textbooks in primary schools were the main topics of this study, which employed library research methodologies. This study is classified as library research because it is grounded in the literature. Research that gathers information from multiple sources is known as library research. Books are only one type of literature that can be studied; other types include newspapers, periodicals, magazines, and documents. Finding different theories, laws, propositions, principles, opinions, ideas, and other sources that can be utilized to examine and resolve the issues under study is the main goal of library research. According to the findings, there are still serious flaws in some textbooks even though they fulfill curriculum requirements. These include a lack of interactive features, a lack of diversity in reading materials, and a poor integration of contextual and cultural factors. Incorporating project-based activities, personal reflection, visual mapping, and multi-genre readings that are relevant to students' life into textbooks is advised in order to promote active and creative learning. More stimulating, conversational, and cognitively developmentally appropriate language should also be employed. It is anticipated that these suggestions will provide authors and book producers with useful direction when they write instructional materials that are both educational and transforming.
Introduction: Stunting remains a major public health problem in low- and middle-income countries, including Indonesia, and is influenced by biological, environmental, and behavioral factors within the family context. Evidence examining the role of comprehensive family health task performance in relation to stunting severity is still limited. To examine the association between family health task performance and the degree of stunting among children aged 0–24 months attending a primary health care center. Research Methodology: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted among 120 families with stunted children in the catchment area of Bantimurung Primary Health Center, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Family health task performance was assessed using a validated questionnaire covering five domains: recognizing health problems, making health decisions, caring for sick family members, modifying the home environment, and utilizing health facilities. Stunting severity was determined using height-for-age z-scores. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman’s rank correlation. Results: Family health task performance was significantly and negatively correlated with stunting severity (ρ = −0.341; p < 0.05). Utilization of health facilities (ρ = −0.421; p < 0.01) and environmental modification (ρ = −0.356; p < 0.05) showed the strongest associations with reduced stunting severity. Low birth weight and non-exclusive breastfeeding were also significantly associated with more severe stunting. Conclusion: Better family health task performance, particularly in engaging primary health services and maintaining a healthy home environment, is associated with less severe stunting. Strengthening family-centered interventions in primary care is essential to reducing the severity of stunting in early childhood
Purpose – This study aims to identify educational values embedded in Buton folktales through an intertextuality approach and develop valid, practical, and effective oral literature learning resources for elementary school students. Methodology – This Research and Development (R&D) study adopted the ADDIE model involving 177 elementary school students from seven public schools in Baubau City, Indonesia. Data were collected through document analysis, observations, expert validation, questionnaires, and pre-test/post-test assessments. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically, while quantitative data were examined using descriptive statistics and a Paired Sample t-test. Findings – Six educational values were consistently identified: religiosity, honesty, responsibility, social responsibility, leadership, and cultural preservation. The developed learning resources achieved a very high validity score (4.77) and demonstrated excellent practicality, as indicated by teacher and student responses. Students' mean scores improved from 64.28 to 86.91, with an N-Gain of 0.63 (moderate) and a significant difference between pre-test and post-test results (p < 0.001), demonstrating the effectiveness of the learning resources. Contribution – This study extends intertextuality into culturally responsive elementary education. It provides an innovative oral literature resource that integrates local wisdom, character education, and cultural literacy while supporting the preservation of Indonesia's intangible cultural heritage.
Gynecologic malignancies-including cervical, endometrial, ovarian, vaginal, and vulvar cancers-represent a major and largely preventable source of mortality in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). In 2022, an estimated 1.47 million new cases and over 680,000 deaths were reported globally, with mortality disproportionately concentrated in resource-constrained settings. The survival gap between LMICs and high-income countries (HICs) remains profound, reflecting systemic policy and health system failures in prevention, early detection, and access to treatment. This narrative review synthesizes evidence from PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, and World Health Organization (WHO) databases, prioritizing literature published between January 2015 and December 2024, with a focus on epidemiology, health system constraints, and policy-relevant interventions. LMICs account for approximately 94% of global cervical cancer deaths, with the highest mortality observed in East Africa (age-standardized mortality rate 35.3 per 100,000). Persistent survival disparities are driven by late-stage diagnosis, limited screening coverage, inadequate radiotherapy infrastructure, workforce shortages, and restricted access to essential and novel therapies. However, evidence demonstrates that cost-effective and scalable interventions-including single-dose human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, screen-and-treat strategies, HPV self-sampling, task-shifting models, and international training partnerships-can substantially improve outcomes when embedded within national cancer control policies and supported by sustainable financing mechanisms. Reducing these inequities requires policy-driven, system-level reforms that prioritize prevention, strengthen service delivery, and expand equitable access to care, aligning national strategies with global frameworks such as the WHO 90-70-90 targets to achieve sustainable cancer control in LMICs.
