In a society in which physical appearance and image are of increasing concern and, at the same time, social networks take up more and more time in our lives, the phenomenon of the cult of the body arises, which is characterized by the search for bodily perfection and generates, among other things, an increase in physical activity. For this reason, the strategy developed by sports centers on social networks and, specifically, the ethical aspects that come into play are especially relevant. This research aims to delve into these issues by conducting in-depth interviews with community managers (CMs) from a sample of sports centers. The results show that they clearly differentiate between information and advertising, that they hardly resort to promoting external brands, and that their main goal is to build loyalty rather than generate direct income. Likewise, the CMs of Spanish sports centers have a fairly high knowledge and awareness of ethical and legal standards and are mainly concerned with banned content, the warning of advertising content or data protection and their own image, which is a positive evolution compared to previous similar work. It is concluded that it is necessary to establish mechanisms and processes that guarantee transparency in the advertising of this type of content.

This study aims to analyze how the novel Doomsday Book (1992), by Connie Willis, constructs a symbolic grammar of compassion in contexts of collapse, through the juxtaposition of two pandemics set in different time periods: the Black Death in the fourteenth century and a future epidemic in twenty-first-century Oxford. The research adopts an integrative and interdisciplinary methodology, combining contributions from history, medicine, anthropology, literature, and theology, among other fields.. This approach allows for a synthetic reading better suited to the semantic complexity of speculative fiction. As with any transversal reading, the study assumes a limitation: the difficulty of framing the novel within a single analytical category. Nevertheless, this openness enables a richer and deeper perspective on human responses to catastrophe. The article offers an original contribution by interpreting the novel’s diptych structure not merely as a formal parallelism, but as a mode of mediation between possible worlds. Among the main findings, compassion—embodied by characters facing extreme situations—emerges as a universal language and ethical principle of resistance in the face of suffering. Doomsday Book thus reveals itself as a narrative that transcends the science fiction genre to offer an ethical, aesthetic, and communicative reflection on meaning, care, and hope in times of crisis.

This study explores the impact of the science-radio binomial through ‘Haz (de) Ciencia’, an intervention project developed in the Badajoz Penitentiary Centre, in which inmates participated in the production of 20 popular science podcasts. From an educational-communicative approach, the initiative has favoured the media and scientific literacy of the participants, using the radio as a learning tool. This contribution, carried out behind bars and far from the sensationalism that can surround the life circumstances of these people, has allowed us to analyse the advantages, changes in perception, experiences and experiences they have had in relation to themselves and to research through the activity. In order to demonstrate whether the experience has been viable, a qualitative methodology has been used through the focus group technique. Among the most outstanding conclusions, a positive change towards science is evidenced, strengthening their media competence and at the same time, they recognise the potential of the radio medium to improve their communication skills, as well as to develop their self-esteem and their media and scientific literacy. These findings underline the importance of educommunication in the democratisation of knowledge and the construction of critical citizenship.
