The objective was to analyze the presence of topics related to Physical Education (PE) in Radis magazine, from its first edition in 2002 to the end of 2024 (267 editions). Descriptive statistics were used, and texts that had four or more mentions of the keywords were read in their entirety, to identify the ideas contained in each text. Terms related to PE appeared in 58% of the issues. The term with the highest number of occurrences was "physical activity," followed by "sport" and "physical education." Thirteen articles were analyzed, and it was observed that information related to physical inactivity as a health risk factor, epidemiological information, inequalities in practice, and benefits of practice were the most frequent ideas. The reports had points in common, but also some differences, consistent with the recent trajectory of PE in the context of Public Health.
This essay examines the consolidation of Brazilian bodybuilding on the international stage by analyzing contemporary transformations in the production, governance, and visibility of the body. Drawing on the theoretical contributions of Michel Foucault and Nikolas Rose, the bodybuilder is understood as a subject who internalizes practices of bioasceticism, self-government, and responsibilization, converting the body into a technical, aesthetic, and continuously optimizable project. The analysis situates the bodybuilder's body at the intersection of biopolitics, technique, market dynamics, and digital culture, emphasizing how the mediatization of training and daily routines establishes regimes of continuous visibility mediated by digital platforms. It is argued that the possible emergence of a "Brazilian turn" in bodybuilding results from the convergence between a bodily aesthetic historically produced within the Brazilian context and the logic of digital fitness culture, which transforms discipline into content, engagement, and symbolic capital. In this process, Brazilian bodybuilding operates as a body laboratory for aesthetic and identity experimentation, in which the body functions as an ethical, political, and cultural artifact, revealing central tensions of contemporary subjectivity in a globalized world.
This article analyzes the implicit racism in the front pages of Spanish sports newspapers, based on the case of racism suffered by player Vinicius J & uacute;nior in a La Liga match in May 2023. Grounded in the Theory of Social Representations, the study investigates how the sports media contribute to the naturalization and minimization of racism in Spanish football. The research adopts a qualitative methodology, with literature review and visual analysis of the front pages of the newspapers SuperDeporte, Marca, and AS, considering discursive, typographic, and color elements. The results indicate that, even in the face of explicit manifestations of racism, part of the sports press shifts the focus away from the crime, downplays the insults, or blames the victim, reinforcing social representations that support the idea of racial harmony in football. It concludes that such media practices contribute to the maintenance of veiled and structural racism in the Spanish sporting context.
This study analyses an educational experience promoting physical activity with the Strava app, adopting the theoretical lens of feminist new materialisms. Through digital and in-person ethnography, we analysed the implementation of a 10-week cooperative challenge involving 113 11th-grade students. The results reveal that Strava acts as part of a digital-human assemblage in which metrics, bodies, and norms co-produce the educational experience reconfiguring practices, affects, and relationships. Ambivalent affective intensities (enjoyment, pressure, frustration) emerged, as well as creative uses. The study concludes that self-tracking technologies in PE are not neutral but material agents with pedagogical, ethical, and affective implications, which require their critical and situated integration into the subject.
