The effect of theblack medick (Medicago lupulina L.) herbextraction cytotoxic activity of healthy donors and cancer patients’ lymphocytes was studied. It was established that the extraction of M. lupulina has a direct cytotoxic effect on tumor cells and activates the antitumor activity of natural killers by interleukin – 2up-regulation. Theextraction of M. lupulina has a direct cytotoxic effect on the line of K-562 human tumor cells in a concentration not lower than 5mg/ml; Increases the cytotoxicity of lymphocytes in healthy donors and oncological patients against K-562 tumor cells in a concentration of at least 1.0mg/ml by 18% and by 23% accordingly. At the same concentration, it causes a reliable increase of 12% in the level of interleukin-2 in healthy donors and of 17% in oncological patients without effect of on the level of interleukin-1. The mechanism of M. lupulina activation influence on the cellular link of antitumor immunity can be related to the ability of biologically active substances isolated from alfalfa hops to stimulate release of regular cytokines from lymphocytes, inter alia, IL-2.M. lupulina herb can be used to create effective and low-toxic preventive medicines containing flavonoids. Natural flavonoids have a more selective and mild effect.The effect of the M. lupulina extracton cytotoxic activity of healthy donors and cancer patients lymphocytes was studied. Introduction. The purpose of the review is to present new and summarized data on moprhology, ethnobotany, phytochemistry, and biological activity of the Houttuynia cordata Thunb. (Saururaceae), which is used in Asian folk medicine as a medical plant.Text. Houttuynia cordata Thunb. Of the genus Saururaceae – a plant native to southeast Asia that grows in moist soil. In northeast India, it’s used extensively in cooking. Actively used in folk medicine.Conclusion. The phytochemical analysis of the plant showed that composition of the plant includes ethereal oils, terpenoids, steroids, phenylpropanoids, phenolcarboxylic acids, glycosides, lignans/neolignans, flavonoids, phenanthrene derivatives, alkaloids, and other compounds. There is a review of content and distribution of the biomarker compounds as well as of study of extracts and various isolated compounds of wide range of biological activities including powerful antiviral properties (such as flavonoids) acting against a range of viruses (such as HSV-1, H1N1, and DENV) and such coronaviridaes as SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2. Bioavailability of the plant raw materials, lack of toxicity, wide range of biological activities, and therapeutic potential require further target study of the Houttuynia cordata to determine the prospect of using of the herb as modern medicinal plant raw material.
Introduction. Yellow wood anemone (Anemone ranunculoides L.) is a herbaceous perennial. This plant grows in the European parts of Russia, Ciscaucasia, Siberia, Central Europe and other regions. It has many different pharmacological activities: immunomodulatory, sedative, anti-inflammatory, antitoxic, diuretic, antibacterial, antioxidant, antitumor and antirheumatic activity. These various effects are due to their biologically active compounds, which include ephemeroids, protoanemonin, saponins, tannins, resins, ascorbic acid, ranunculin, oils lipids and triterpene glycosides. As to phenolic compounds, currently there is no sufficient information on flavonoids and hydroxycinnamic acids (HCAs) profiles in different species of genus Anemone. Because these groups of compounds are quite specific for yellow wood anemone, their detailed study seems to be relevant.Aim. The objective of this research is to identify and quantify flavonoids, HCAs, and their conjugates in Yellow wood anemone leaves, flowers and rhizomes with roots.Materials and methods. The identification was carried out by using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometric detection (UHPLC–DAD–ESI-MS) with quantification of individual compounds by external calibration method.Results and discussion. Among the 47 compounds, 30 flavonoids and 17 derivatives of HCAs were detected. Quercetin glycosides were found to be the major flavonoids in aerial parts whereas chalcone glycosides – in underground parts. The major HCA in rhizomes with roots was feruloyltartaric acid (1.18 mg/g) whereas chlorogenic acid was predominant in leaves and flowers (8.68 mg/g and 2.62 mg/g accordingly). The total content of phenolic compounds was estimated at 60 mg/g on a dry weight basis.Conclusion. As a result of the research a detailed profile of flavonoids and HCAs acids of anemon was described. The data obtained can serve to identify this species in the standardization of medicinal plant materials and taxonomic studies.
Objective: This review aims to present updated and generalized data on ethnobotany, phytochemistry, and biological activity of some species of the genus Asarum L. (Aristolochiaceae Juss.). These species have been used as medicinal plants of traditional medicine in Asia (China, Japan, and India), Europe, and North America for a long time. This study included the 6 most widely known representatives of the genus Asarum L.: A. europaeum L. (European species); A. heterotropoides F. Schmidt, A. himalaicum J.D. Hooker & Thomson ex Klotzsch and A. sieboldii Miq. (Asian species); A. canadense L. and A. caudatum Lindl. (American species). Materials and methods: Analysis of various literary sources of different years. Electronic scientific search systems (Pubmed, Springer, Wiley Online Library, Science Direct, Biodiversity library), electronic databases (Pubchem, Human Metabolome Database) and other Internet resources were used to search for the relevant literature and the necessary information. Results: The phytochemical analysis of these species shows the presence of essential oils, terpenoids, steroids, phenylpropanoids, phenolcarboxylic acids, phenanthrene derivatives, lignans/neolignans, flavonoids, alkaloids, and other compounds. Studies of extracts and individual isolated compounds demonstrate a wide range of biological activity. They also provide evidence of nephrotoxicity and carcinogenic effects of phenanthrene derivatives (aristolochic acid AAI and AAII). Conclusions: Further study of genus Asarum L. species is required to determine the prospects for their use as sources of modern medicines, because of the bioavailability of raw materials, the wide range of biological activity and the therapeutic potential.
We studied the effects of cathepsins produced by immunocompetent cells of intact mice, mice with B16 melanoma, mice with removed B16 melanoma, and mice with removed Ehrlich carcinoma on the growth of B16 melanoma. Incubation of B16 melanoma cells with cathepsins from immunocompetent cells of intact mice, mice with B16 melanoma, and mice with removed Ehrlich carcinoma did not affect tumor growth. Incubation of B16 melanoma cells with cathepsin from immunocompetent cells of mice with removed B16 melanoma was followed by complete loss of malignancy by these cells. Melanoma cells formed no tumor node within at least 1 year after transplantation, though exhibited high proliferative activity and formed pigmented nevi. The formation of a nevus by B16 melanoma cells is described for the first time. The existence of a mechanism regulating proliferation of malignant cells in the tumor-bearing host was hypothesized. Studies of this mechanism are expected to promote the development of new methods for the treatment of tumors.
In this study, we studied the changes in the binding of pea lectin to the lymphocytes of mice against the background of the growth of ovarian carcinoma CaO1 and Ehrlich ascites carcinoma. It was revealed that during tumor growth, the appearance in the peripheral blood of experimental animals of two populations of lymphocytes was observed. In the first population of lymphocytes, the level of binding to lectins does not differ from the level of binding of lectins to lymphocytes of animals without a tumor. In the second lymphocyte population, the lectin binding level is lower. It is suggested that this phenomenon is associated with the elimination of lymphocytes, which are able to have an antitumor effect. At the same time, the surface structure of lymphocytes, which are responsible for anti-infective immunity, does not change.
In the current work was inspected the impact of phytogenic lectins extracted from the Pisum sativum and Ricinus seeds at proliferative activity of peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy donors. Identified that phytogenic lectins Pisum sativum and Ricinus in small concentration (from 5 to 15 ?g/ml) possess the mitogenetic effect.
В настоящей работе изучалось влияние лектинов растительного происхождения на цитотоксическую активность мононуклеаров периферической крови (МНПК) здоровых доноров. Установлено, что лектин гороха вызывает статистически значимый цитотоксический эффект МНК по отношению к клеткам колоректального рака.
