In this work, a sensitive and selective voltammetric determination for Manidipine in pharmaceutical formulations and biological fluids have been studied based on the enhanced electrochemical response at surface nano-iron oxide modified screen-printed electrode, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were used to confirm the morphology, structure of the as-prepared nanospheres electrochemical characterizations different modified electrodes. The modified nano iron oxide modified printed electrode (FSPE) exhibits voltammetric with high sensitivity, stability, and its applicability over a wide range for the determination of MAN in 0.04 M universal buffer (pH = 4.00 ± 0.01), SWV method shows linearity over the concentration range 60–925 nM. LOD and LOQ are 8.5nM and 28.4 nM respectively. The statistical validation comparison with the reported technique was also performed for the determination of MAN in authentic and pharmaceutical formulations. Moreover, the modified nano-screen printing sensor showed fine selectivity, reproducibility, and stability, and it was successfully used for the simultaneous determination of MAN in the presence of ascorbic acid and uric acid in dentate urine samples with appropriate results.
ORGANIC pollutant substances have direct effect on humans and animals. Wastewater containing organic pollutant like phenol compound can contaminate ground water resource and thus lead to a serious ground water problem. This study presents the adsorption technique of (MWCNt) which is used as adsorbents for the removal of phenol compounds from synthetic contaminated water. Many parameters are studied like pH, agitation speed, contact time and adsorbent concentration to determine their influence on the removal of phenol and on adsorption rate. The concentration of phenol in water before and after treatment was determined (analyzed) using high performance liquid chromatography technique (HPLC). The kinetic studies for adsorption followed the pseudo-second order model. The adsorption isotherm fits with Langmuir isotherm. The optimum conditions using MWCNTs were contact time 120 min, pH 7, agitation speed 130 rpm and dose of adsorbent 0.3g. The removal percentage was 85.54%.

Experimental parameters that may affect the extraction process were examined and optimized; such as pH, ligand and triton concentrations, type of diluting solvent, extraction temperature and ionic strength. The calibration curves were linear upto 500 mu g L-1 for Fe3+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ and upto 200 pg L-1 for Co2+ The achieved detection limits were 1.5, 0.23, 0.71 and 0.35 pg L-1 for Feat, Co2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ respectively. The accuracy was established by analysis of certified reference materials (Seronorm whole blood L2 and ZCS ZC85006 Tomato). The proposed procedure was used for preconcentration of these metal ions in water, biological and food samples prior to their determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry.
A micro-cloud point extraction method was discussed for preconcentration and spectrophotometric quantification of U(VI). The method depends on complex formation between U(VI) and 2-(4-sulphophenyloazo)-1,8-dihydroxy-3,6-naphtalenedisulphonic acid (SPADNS) at pH 7.0 and subsequent extraction of the complex in a mixed surfactant medium (cethyltrimethyl ammonium bromide and Triton X-114). The separation was carried out in the presence of 1% Na2SO4 at room temperature. The calibration curve was linear up to 3000 µg L−1. The enrichment factor, detection limit and precision were 16.0, 1.05 µg L−1, and 2.3%, respectively. The method was employed for the determination of U(VI) in real samples with different matrices.
Developing a low-cost effective phosphate absorbent is crucial for the control of water eutrophication. Drinking-water treatment alum sludge (DWT-AS) produced at water treatment plants is an unavoidable by-product. DWT-AS can be used for the effective removal and recovery of phosphate from wastewater. Adsorption of phosphate from wastewater by DWT-AS has been studied. The influence of various factors, such as initial pH, initial phosphate concentration, contact time and adsorbent dose on the removal efficiency was also studied in batch equilibration technique. Solution pH significantly influenced the sorption. Each sample achieved the maximal removal of phosphate at pH 5.0. Results showed that the removal percentages increased as the weight of sorbent increased. The study of the effect of contact time indicated that the removal percentages increase with increasing contact time. By increasing initial concentration of phosphate, the removal efficiency was decreased. The Freundlich and Langmuir models were used to simulate the sorption equilibrium. From the experimental data, the results indicate that both models are clearly best fitting isotherms with correlation coefficients greater than expected. The objective of this study is to demonstrate that DWT-AS can be employed as a highly effective natural adsorbent for phosphorus removal from wastewater and aqueous solutions.
Two simple, selective and sensitive spectrophotometric methods are described for the determination of some aminoglycosides antibiotics: Streptomycin sulphate (STR), neomycin sulphate (NMS) and spectinomycin (SPC). The methods are based on the reaction of the studied drugs with either bromocresol green (BCG), bromocresol purple (BCP), to give yellow species. The coloured products are quantified spectrophotometrically at 430, 477, and 441, for STR, NMS, and SPC, using BCG, respectively, whereas on using BCP at 436, 440, and 466, respectively. The optimization of the different experimental conditions is described. No interferences from different additives and common degradation products were observed in the determination. The BCP method was better than the BCG method, because of its wider range of determination (0.4 12 μg mL vs. 0.6 18 μg/ mL on using BCP), higher molar absorptivity and Sandell sensitivity (8.26 x 10 L mol cm and 0.007 g cm vs. 5.62 × 10 L mol cm and 0.011 g cm), greater stability (24 and 18 days on using BCG and BCP, respectively) and better selectivity. . The stoichiometry of the formed ion-pairs was found to be 1: 1 for all complexes. The proposed methods have been applied successfully for the analysis of the studied drugs in pure forms and pharmaceutical formulations.

Fundus biomicroscopic examination revealed a glaucoma-like bilateral and asymmetric large optic cup. Neuroradiological examination revealed an expansive mass in the sella turcica that was compressing the optic tract.CONCLUSIONS:Optic nerve compression can lead to perimetric alterations and optic disc anomalies such as those seen in normal-tension glaucoma. Age under 50 years, visual loss, and neuroretinal rim pallor may lead to a suspicion of compressive neuropathy.
L'œdème maculaire est la cause la plus fréquente de baisse de l'acuité visuelle chez le diabétique. Le but de notre étude était de comparer les résultats anatomiques et fonctionnels des injections uniques d'acétonide de triamcinolone versus bevacizumab dans le traitement des œdèmes maculaires diabétiques. Trente patients ayant un œdème maculaire diabétique ont été traités par injection unique de 4 mg (0.1 cc) d'acétonide de triamcinolone ou par injection unique de 1,25 mg (0.05 cc) de bevacizumab. Tous ces patients ont bénéficié d'un examen ophtalmologique complet initial, à 1 semaine, 2 semaines, 1 mois, 2 mois et 3 mois post injection. Une OCT et une angiographie rétinienne à la fluorescéine ont été réalisées chez la plupart des patients avant injection et à 2 mois post injection. L'amélioration de l'acuité visuelle était significativement plus importante dans le groupe traité par de l'acétonide de triamcinolone à 2 mois et à 3 mois de l'injection. Cependant, ce groupe de patients a présenté une hypertonie oculaire dans 15 % des cas et une cataracte ou une précipitation d'une cataracte préexistante dans 20 % des cas. Aucune de ces complications n'a été notée dans le groupe traité au bevacizumab. Les résultats anatomiques à court terme de l'acétonide de triamcinolone semblent donc meilleurs que ceux du bevacizumab dans le traitement de l'œdème maculaire diabétique. Cependant, ses complications, dominées par la cataracte et l'hypertonie oculaire, restent fréquentes. Des études comparatives plus larges et à plus long terme sont nécessaires afin d'évaluer les résultats anatomiques et fonctionnels de ces traitements.
One hundred of non duplicate Streptococcus pneumoniae resistant to erythromycin collected from three teaching hospitals in Tunisia from January 1998 to December 2004 were investigated to evaluate determine their resistance level to different macrolides and the mechanisms involved. Most erythromycin resistant S. pneumoniae were isolated from respiratory tract (34%). Eighty-three percent showed constitutive MLSB phenotype with high MICs of macrolides and lincosamides (MIC90 > 256 mu g/ml), 12% M phenotype with moderately increased MICs of macrolides (MIC90: 12 mu g/ml) and low MICs of lincosamides (MIC90 = 0.75 mu g/ml) and 5% inducible MLSB with high MICs of macrolides (MIC90 > 256 mu g/ml) and moderately increased MICs of lincosamides (MIC90 = 8 mu g/ml). All strains were susceptible to quinupristundafopristin association and linezolid (MIC90 = 1 mu g/ml). Strains belonging to MLSB phenotype were PCR positive for the erm B gene (88%). Twelve percent categorized as M phenotype carried the mef A gene. The rates of associated resistance were 68% to penicillin G, 53% to tetracyclines, 61% to cotrimoxazole, 21% to chloramphenicol and 13% to ciprofloxacin. MLSB constitutive phenotype conferring cross resistance to macrolides, lincosamides and streptogramins B with high level of resistance was the most prevalent. Étudier les modifications posturales et de la statique rachidienne associées à la lombalgie chronique chez une population féminine ménopausée. Une appréciation clinique de la statique rachidienne sur le plan sagittal ; une évaluation posturale sur une plate-forme de force type Balance Master Neurocom® par le modified clinical test for the sensory interaction on balance (test CTSIB modifié) ; une évaluation des paramètres radiologiques rachidiens, pelviens ainsi que le profil sagittal selon la classification de Roussouly. La mesure clinique des courbures rachidiennes et les vitesses d’oscillation du centre de pression sur Balance Master®, n’objectivent aucune différence significative entre les deux groupes. Alors que la position du centre de pression dans l’axe antéropostérieur montre une différence significative entre les deux groupes (p = 0,02) avec une projection en arrière plus trouvée chez les lombalgiques chroniques. L’évaluation radiologique montre que chez les lombalgiques chroniques la gîte sagittale est significativement supérieure, la pente sacreé est significativement inférieure et le type 1 de lordose lombaire est plus fréquent. Chez les femmes ménopausées, la lombalgie chronique semble être associée à une faible pente sacrée, type 1 de lordose plus fréquent avec postériorisation du centre de gravité. Les membranes épirétiniennes (MER) ou épimaculaires sont une prolifération fibrogliale, se développant à la surface de la rétine. Le but de notre étude est d'établir l'intérêt de l'OCT dans la prise en charge chirurgicale des membranes épimaculaires idiopathiques. Notre étude a porté sur 18 yeux de 18 patients ayant une membrane épimaculaire idiopathique ou un syndrome de traction vitréomaculaire. Ces patients ont bénéficié en préopératoire d'un examen ophtalmologique complet et d'une OCT, à la recherche d'un syndrome de traction et ou d'un œdème maculaire associés à la membrane épimaculaire. Une OCT de contrôle a été réalisée à un mois postopératoire. L'âge de nos patients a varié de 56 à 71 ans avec une moyenne de 64 ans. L'OCT a permis de retrouver trois types de décollement postérieur du vitré associé à la MEM, il était complet dans 10 cas (1er groupe), partiel en forme de V dans 4 cas (2e groupe) et partiel temporal à la macula dans 4 cas (3e groupe). Un décollement maculaire était associé dans le premier et le deuxième groupe, avec ou sans œdème maculaire. Un œdème maculaire cystoïde important était objectivé dans le troisième groupe. L'amélioration fonctionnelle postopératoire a été significativement meilleure dans le premier et le deuxième groupe que dans le troisième groupe. L'OCT, grâce à une étude fine de l'interface vitréorétinienne, permet de faire la part entre syndrome de traction vitréomaculaire et membrane épimaculaire idiopathique. Elle aide ainsi à poser l'indication chirurgicale et à établir le pronostic postopératoire. Le traitement chirurgical des MEM idiopathique a bénéficié de l'aide de la tomographie par cohérence optique.
Conclusion Le syndrome de Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada est très rare chez l’enfant. Le pronostic dépend de la précocité du diagnostic et de la prise en charge thérapeutique. Ce traitement repose en premier lieu sur la corticothérapie.
AIM:Our purpose is to study the aetiologies of congenital cataracts, and to establish an approach to decision making of etiological diagnosis.METHODS:We included 85 children in a cross sectional study. The mean age was 4.5 years. These patients underwent a complete ophthalmologic and paediatric examination, and etiological investigation.RESULTS:An aetiology of congenital cataracts was found in 62.5% of cases. Hereditary was the most common cause, it constituted 42.3% of etiologies. Among these cases 77.7% were autosomal recessive. 16.4% of congenital cataracts were associated with general diseases or dysmorphology syndromes. Metabolic diseases and intrauterine infections were found in 7 % and 4.7% of cases respectively.CONCLUSION:Heredity remains the most common etiology of congenital cataracts.
