The article outlines the origins and development history of American corporate archives,describes the basic information of four world famous corporate archives——AT&T,IBM,Ford Motor and Dow Chemical,and summarizes the characteristics of the development of American corporate archives and enlightenment to Chinese corporate archives: we should survive in competitions,pursuing higher status through contributions;develop the diverse and integrated functions;provide services for internal users,supplemented by services for external users;build a rich,diverse and distinctive archives collection system.
