Household waste cooking oil is still often not utilized optimally, even though it has the potential to be reprocessed into value-added products while helping reduce environmental pollution. The repeated use of cooking oil and the improper disposal of used oil are still common in community life. This community service activity aimed to improve the skills of youth groups in processing waste cooking oil into soap and candles through practice-based training. The activity was conducted in Pojok Village, Mojoroto District, Kediri City, involving 11 participants aged approximately 20-24 years. The implementation methods included material presentation, demonstrations, direct practice sessions, and simple observational evaluation of participants’ skills during the product-making process. The results showed that 10 of 11 participants were able to independently follow the stages of soap and candle production as outlined in the provided procedures. The products obtained consisted of solid soap with a relatively homogeneous texture and candles that produced a stable flame. In addition, participants actively engaged in the training through discussions and question-and-answer sessions on household waste utilization. This activity indicates that practice-based training can improve participants' basic skills while encouraging the practical use of waste cooking oil within the community.
Pandansili Tourism Site in Ngampungan Village, Bareng District, Jombang Regency, is a bathing tourism destination developed by the village-owned enterprise and Tourism Awareness Group since 2019. The situational analysis indicates that the partner requires renewable-energy innovation to reduce operational costs, strengthen educational tourism, and improve management capacity. This community service program utilizes spring-water overflow through a picohydro power plant design using an axial turbine. The technical data refer to the ZD760-LM-(18-20) axial-flow turbine-generator with 220 V AC rated voltage, 2 kW rated power, 1-5 m operating head, 0.02-1.0 m3/s water-flow range, and continuous-duty operation. At a nominal head of 3 m with turbine efficiency of 0.65 and generator efficiency of 0.85, the discharge required to produce 2 kW is approximately 0.123 m3/s. The implementation method consists of partner coordination, discharge and head survey, SWOT analysis, intake-turbine-generator-control-panel design, operation-maintenance training, and energy-utilization evaluation. The SWOT analysis shows an IFE score of 5.56 and an EFE score of 5.01, placing Pandansili development in Quadrant I with an aggressive/offensive strategy. The energy output is directed to tourism-area lighting, renewable-energy educational information boards, simple sensor/monitoring loads, and demonstration loads. The program is expected to improve energy independence, add educational tourism value, and strengthen Pokdarwis competence in managing appropriate technology based on local potential.
Scrap enterprises in the informal sector often face managerial challenges, including unclear work procedures, inconsistent task execution, weak worker coordination, and differing understandings of job responsibilities, which may reduce employee performance. This study examines the influence of Social Responsibility, Teamwork, and Work System on Employee Performance in scrap enterprises in Karangtengah Village. Using a quantitative associative approach, data were collected from 53 employees through Likert-scale questionnaires and analysed using SmartPLS. The findings indicate that Social Responsibility and Teamwork have not significantly improved employee performance. In contrast, the Work System plays a crucial role in enhancing performance, suggesting that employees work more effectively when supported by clear task allocation, structured procedures, and consistent operational regulations. These results demonstrate that, within informal sector businesses, employee performance is more strongly determined by organised work systems than by social or relational factors. This study contributes to human resource management literature by emphasising the importance of structured work systems in informal business environments. Practically, scrap business owners should prioritise systematic work arrangements, clear responsibilities, and standardised operating procedures to improve employee performance.
Traditional ethnic foods increasingly circulate through digital platforms, yet critical scholarship on how platform logics restructure their cultural visibility remains scarce in Indonesian food studies. This article examines dumbeg, a steamed rice cake from Rembang, Central Java, as a discursive site where the four institutional logics of the platform society, datafication, commodification, selection, and programmability, intersect with five centuries of ritual, ceremonial, and oral discourse. Drawing on a TikTok corpus of 62 videos (14,243,440 views, collected March 2026), the analysis treats engagement metrics not as marketing performance but as traces of algorithmic curation. A 12.8-fold visibility asymmetry between dumbek (Tuban) and dumbeg (Rembang) cannot be explained by historical depth or cultural significance; it is a constitutive effect of algorithmic selection privileging content that aligns with TikTok's platform vernacular. Three discursive registers, commercial-promotional, identity-curiosity, and nostalgia-heritage, reorganise heritage knowledge into platform-legible formats, while the embodied, gendered ritual knowledge of predominantly female artisan producers is systematically absent across all three, an absence we theorise as a domain of unplatformizable epistemics. The article argues that what appears as a digital promotion gap is better understood as algorithmic recognition asymmetry, with implications for how heritage food scholarship conceptualises preservation in the platform era.
