Social responsibility-based practices have become crucial for the long-term growth of organizations. Empirical studies show that socially responsible human resource management (HRM) positively influences individual behavior; however, limited research investigates its role in mitigating negative employee attitudes and behaviors. Drawing on social exchange theory and self-determination theory, we investigate how and when socially responsible HRM affects knowledge sabotage among employees in the hospitality and tourism industry. We obtained 150 valid surveys from five-star hotel employees in Kyrgyzstan and 240 from hotel employees in T & uuml;rkiye and tested the hypotheses using PLS-SEM. The results show that socially responsible HRM reduces knowledge sabotage and increases workplace belongingness. Workplace belongingness is found to negatively affect knowledge sabotage. Our findings reveal that work belongingness mediates the influences of socially responsible human resource management on knowledge sabotage. More importantly, corporate ethical values strengthen the negative effect of socially responsible HRM on knowledge sabotage via work belongingness, thereby amplifying this impact further in the hospitality and tourism industry. This paper provides theoretical and practical implications for hospitality and tourism researchers and practitioners by demonstrating how socially responsible HRM reduces employee knowledge sabotage through psychological mechanisms and corporate values.
In this study, atomic size-dependent and first-order shear-deformable free vibration analysis of nanorings embedded in a fully elastic medium is performed. Although many continuous systems, such as nanobeams, nanorods, and nanoplates, have been modeled with nonlocal elasticity and the significance of shear deformations in their mechanical analyses has been investigated, nanoscaled rings have not been examined in this context. Therefore, the present study provides a novel contribution by integrating nonlocal elasticity, shear deformation, and elastic medium effects for nanorings. According to this, firstly, by combining the equilibrium equations of nanorings with the constitutive equations of nonlocal elasticity, shear force and bending moment are obtained. Then, the frequency equation is attained by solving a set of equations dependent on two infinite series. The nondimensional frequencies of in-plane free vibration of the nanoring structure are computed under different parameters. Numerical calculations are discussed in detail. Additionally, the mechanical behavior of shear-deformable nanorings is compared with nanorings without shear deformation effects. The present study provides a unified formulation that simultaneously accounts for atomic-scale effects, transverse shear deformation, and elastic foundation interaction. This integrated approach enables a more realistic prediction of vibration characteristics of nanoring-based nano-electro-mechanical systems.
The study aimed to explore the impact of dysfunctional customer behaviors on revenge intention and the moderating role of coping strategies among hospitality and tourism industry employees. The study used an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design. In the first phase, a quantitative data collection technique was used to survey 802 employees, and hypothesis testing was conducted. Quantitative data were analyzed using Model 2 of Hayes' PROCESS macro for SPSS. In the second phase, the qualitative research method was used, and 12 lower- and middle-level managers were interviewed for a more in-depth examination of the initial quantitative results. The findings show that disproportionate demands and illegitimate complaints directly affect revenge intention. Furthermore, seeking support moderates the relationship between verbal abuse and revenge intention. Implications of the findings and suggestions for future research are discussed.
The increasing demand for sustainable heating has increased interest in biomass pellets from agricultural residues. This study examines the combustion performance, emissions, and thermal degradation of various agricultural residue pellets compared to wood pellets. Combustion tests in a pellet stove revealed that woody residues, such as pine needle and olive pruning pellets, had higher efficiency, lower CO and NOx emissions, and more stable combustion than herbaceous residues such as grass and pepper stalk pellets. Olive pruning pellets reached the highest flue gas temperature (274 degrees C), while pepper stalk pellets recorded the lowest temperature (154 degrees C). CO emissions from herbaceous pellets (up to 6,318 mg Nm-3) were significantly higher than wood pellets (576 mg Nm-3). NOx emissions correlated with nitrogen content, peaking at 904 mg Nm-3 for grass pellets. Some agricultural pellets, such as pomegranate pruning pellets (15.13 GJ m-3), had energy densities surpassing wood pellets (13.60 GJ m-3). However, optimizing stove design is necessary for efficient agricultural pellet combustion.
This study investigated the antimicrobial efficacy of nisin, which has limited activity against Gram-negative bacteria, when enriched with pomegranate peel extract (PPE) against Salmonella Typhimurium in a frozen chicken meat model, as well as its effects on product quality. In the first stage, response surface methodology were used to optimize pomegranate peel extraction conditions, and the highest antimicrobial activity was obtained using a 10
